AUGUST
Thursday 6th
Curriculum Day
NO STUDENTS TODAY
Dear Parents and Carers,
This morning our leadership team started the task of planning the next 6 week phase of the remote learning
period. As you can imagine there is a lot to work through.
As you are aware, Tuesday August 4th is a pupil free day, which was called by the Premier yesterday. This is for
staff to finalise plans for the remote learning period.
Wednesday August 5th is the first day of remote learning. An email has been sent to parents with the onsite
attendance form attached. This form is only for this week (Wednesday and Friday). Thursday is still our school’s
planned curriculum day, therefore there will be no school work or student attendance on this day.
The same process applies as the last remote learning period around who is eligible for onsite attendance.
On-site supervision in rural and regional Victoria will be available to:
Children whose parents cannot work from home
Vulnerable children
Any child with a disability ONSITE ATTENDANCE TIMELINES:
As you are aware, staff are required to work from home. If supervision is necessary, staff are not compelled to be
at school and would need to volunteer to be onsite. Replacement teachers may have to sourced, if they are
willing to be onsite.
To assist us with staffing and planning, we need to determine attendance a week in advance. For this week only,
this is not an option, as we only have one day to prepare for remote learning.
Woady Kid of the Month
July
WYPS Ross Creek Campus was formed on the lands of the Wadawarrung people of the Kulin Nation. We pay our respects to their elders, past, present and emerging. We also acknowledge
the First Nations people throughout Victoria.
Codey W enters the classroom each day with his
infectious smile and positive attitude. He enjoys sharing
his stories and experiences with everyone and always
manages to make people laugh.
Codey tries hard with everything he does and always
wants to improve and challenge himself which makes
teaching him an absolute pleasure.
Codey has a wonderful group of friends who are always
laughing together and supporting each other. They
always come up for a chat during lunch times and on
occasions enjoy playing a bit of a joke on innocent
teachers like myself. I am excited to watch Codey
grow in his learning during his last years of primary
school and have complete belief that he will experience
many successes.
Congratulations Codey!

PERMISSION FOR ONSITE LEARNING
By 3:00 p.m. each Thursday, parents/cares or carers are to provide the completed onsite attendance
application form for required days/times the following week. If this is not possible, please make
contact with the Principal to discuss.
The application form can be emailed to [email protected] or left at the front office / sent
in to an onsite staff member
By close of business each Friday, the school will confirm arrangements with parents and carers.
The school will exercise discretion in circumstances where students attend the school in the absence of
forms being completed, or where forms are submitted late.
Supervision of students is available for when parents/carers are at work. If you finish work at a set time
during the school day, your child MUST be collected from school. The school needs to know your work
details the week prior, so that staffing can be arranged ahead of time. Your child/children will be sent to the
office or designated space for pick up at this time during the day, parents/cares are not permitted to go into
the classroom areas.
Final onsite attendance needs to be approved by the Principal, which is based on department policy, simply
submitting an onsite attendance form doesn’t guarantee permission.
If there is a case that a family doesn’t meet a reason for onsite attendance, the parent/carer will be
contacted by the school either via email or phone.
ONSITE LEARNING LOCATION
All approved students will be attending our Smythesdale Campus as it is our central campus and best
suits reduction of social transmissions. It will also support staff who have volunteered to be onsite with
more isolated work spaces / social distancing opportunities.
The onsite school day for eligible students will be from 8:50 - 3:30 pm. If a parent/carer doesn’t work full
time, they are required to pick their children up when they finish work each day from the campus
Our school bus services will run as normal for those students who access the bus
We are investigating if our before and after school care program can run from our Smythesdale campus.
Parents can also make contact with the shire to ask this question or put in a request.
Unfortunately we don’t have the staff that are willing to volunteer to open other campuses. The Government
have strict adult/student ratios and other guidelines that all schools need to adhere to.
ONSITE LEARNING PROGRAM
Supervised children will be working on their home learning activities as per the weekly program outlined by
their classroom teacher.
As onsite teachers are only supervising programs set by regular class teachers, they will be offering open
ended activities to occupy the students after set work is completed – no explicit teaching is expected from onsite volunteer staff.
The priority of onsite staff is to teach their homeroom class via the learning from home program and then
offer supervision to onsite students.
This week for Wednesday and Friday, students will be given some hard copies of work to complete (this was sent home yesterday). There will be no online learning this week for our
students or student feedback by teachers on their work.
It would be much appreciated if parents/carers could let their child’s classroom teacher know if
they require a hard copy pack, via Class Dojo, to ensure we have the work ready for next week.
LEARNING SPACES-INSIDE AND OUTSIDE
Class sizes will have a maximum of ten students in each space and they will be seated at tables adhering to
the physical distancing guidelines.
Supervised children will be required to follow social distancing guidelines and work and play 1.5m from each other.
Breaks and time outside will be staggered to limit contact between groups of students and adults.
Students will be dismissed from external classroom doors at staggered stages to support physical distancing
guidelines.
HYGIENE
Extra cleaning will take place by our cleaning contractors each day
Drinking fountains will be unavailable to support hygiene practices.
Children to bring their own drink bottles, lunch and snack as per usual. No hot lunches will be available.
Cleaning products will be available and children will regularly be encouraged to wash their hands and to
follow personal hygiene and social distancing practices.
If your child becomes unwell such as runny nose, fever etc. they will be placed in isolation and arrangements
MUST be made to collect your child as soon as possible.
Use of sports equipment and school materials may be limited to assist with the high hygiene expectations.

General Reminders Children should wear their full school uniform whilst at school.
Parents/carers to drop off children at the side gate entrance where they will be met by staff.
Parents/carers are not permitted in the teaching spaces. A skeleton staff will be working from school at our Smythesdale campus, to ensure students are supported to complete the remote learning tasks allocated by their class teacher. The department has communicated to schools that staff can volunteer to come into schools, which makes it nearly impossible for us to have all of our campus’s open during this time. Over the coming weeks, we will continue to communicate with our families via Facebook and Class Dojo, so that everyone feels supported and well informed. We understand this time will be different, so we will monitor how our students, staff and families are coping and make adjustments along the way. For those who are not able to access online learning, hard packs will be available for pick up from our Smythesdale campus every Friday, for the following week. There is also a place to drop off completed work for correction at our Smythesdale campus. Remember that we are here to assist you and will welcome any questions and queries that you have. We know we are going to need to be flexible and understanding of different family contexts. Finally, after our last remote learning period, we asked for feedback from our parents/carers and staff. Our plans moving forward this time, will be to make some changes in our control around this feedback. Please stayed tuned to your class teachers Dojo account for further updates. Please do not hesitate to contact me via phone or email if you have any queries or concerns, or if your situation changes. Corey Pohlner Principal Woady Yaloak Primary School
