Jamie grew up in Manhattan Beach, Brooklyn. She graduated with a bachelor of fine arts degree from Syracuse University. After spending a year in London at St. Mary’s College of Art, she went on to her first job as art director at Grey Advertising in New York City, where she worked on a number of major accounts, including Jeep, Fruit of the Loom, and Mennen.
Jamie moved on to become the art director at Seagram’s, working on the Seagram’s Wine Coolers and the Tropicana Orange Juice accounts. From Seagram’s, she accepted the position of senior art director for Jose Cuervo, Johnnie Walker, and Dewar’s. Currently, Jamie is working at New York City College of Technology on special projects utilizing her graphic skills. Throughout her career, Jamie has won numerous awards for excellence in design.Jamie has put all of her experience and expertise to work for Brooklyn, including the design of Borough President Marty Markowitz’s campaign material; the redesign of the Brooklyn Borough Hall letterheads, business cards, and proclamations; the popular highway signs that welcome all to Brooklyn; the much-sought-after Brooklyn lapel pins and logos for special initiatives such as Camp Brooklyn. In short, Jamie’s creativity and talent have made a difference for all of Brooklyn. Her proudest achievement is the restoration and cataloging of the original historic portrait collection of the previous mayors of the proudly independent City of Brooklyn, which are on display in Borough Hall. All of the portraits are now accompanied with plaques, which provide information describing the painting, the painter, and other pertinent information. Jamie and her husband Marty dote on their 10-year-old son, Beep, an African Grey parrot.
