SWIMMING PROGRAM As the swimming program was cancelled last week due to the fire danger, the students will be making up the missed time with 1 extra hour of swimming each day this week. Thank you for your understanding in the matter.

TOUCH FOOTBALL On Friday 29 November, students in Stage 2 and 3 will be representing Woodberry Public School at the NRL League Touch Day to be held at Lakeside Sporting Complex, Raymond Terrace. We will meet at WPS at 8.00am to mark roll and organise transport. The event should be finished by 2.30pm. There will be a canteen available on the day. Please see permission notes for other information.

As we are approaching the end of 2019, there will

be NO more borrowing for the rest of the year! This gives us time to get our wonderful school

library in order for the start of 2020, so PLEASE RETURN ALL LIBRARY BOOKS TO THE

LIBRARY ASAP!!

CHECKMATE Woodberry’s year of chess came to a conclusion on Wednesday 6 November with our Rookie and Knight teams competing in the regional Primary Schools Final at Broadmeadow PCYC. Both teams of four players progressed to the final after coming 3rd in their respective Maitland Schools Tournaments. Before we discuss the regional final we should mention the Upper Hunter Primary Schools One Day Chess Tournament where our 3 best went to Singleton to face off against 21 other teams. The Woodberry Team of Ryan Jordaan, Luke Ryan and Josh Hardy came away with another 3rd place receiving medals and a trophy for their troubles. That brought the record to 3 tournaments and 3 third place finishes. Not bad for our first year of competition. This brings us to the regional final… Both teams finished in the middle of the pack. A very respectable performance by all. I’ll give the final words to some of our competitors. ON THE REGIONAL FINAL: Excited to be there! Got better throughout the day. (Mathew Fleming) Good challenge! There were some difficult players. (Luke Ryan) Stressful, fun, exciting, good players & challenging. (Daniel Omand) Loved it! Nice people. Good to meet the different people. (Jayden Cooper) Challenging. Making us think a lot. Slept well that night. (Ryan Jordaan)

ON THE YEAR OF CHESS: Great experience. Can’t wait to do it in High School. (Josh Hardy) Awesome! Funniest time at school. (Mathew Fleming) Learnt to lose with grace… sometimes. (Jaiden Cooper)

Our school canteen is open on

WEDNESDAY, THURSDAY & FRIDAYS!

The canteen will be open for the Christmas Concert on Wednesday 4 December, selling snacks & drinks between 5.15- 6.00pm.
