Woodburn Public School Shane’s Stuff NSWTF Stop Work Meeting Tomorrow Thursday 8 Dec There will be a minor disruption to school tomorrow morning (Thursday December 8) as NSWTF members meet to hear the proposed salaries agreement details and vote on future directions. The school will remain OPEN and there will be the provision of supervision for students who attend school during this time. Regular classes will commence following the industrial action. It is envisaged that regular routines will be back in place before 10:00am. Kindergarten Orientation will continue as planned. Students Hopefully this meeting allows for a quick and painless agreement on salaries without protracted and ongoing industrial action being required. Staffing News In recent days I have been able to (almost) finalise the staffing arrangements for our school as we commence 2017. There will be a few changes as we farewell Mrs Lyn Blake after 16 years. Lyn has done a magical job working in our admin staff and her presence will be greatly missed. Mrs Duncan has decided to enjoy a break from teaching to focus on family interests, Mr Bock leaves us to join the staff at Tregeagle PS and Miss Wood is venturing off to Goonellabah PS. I wish to publicly thank all these staff for all they have done to benefit our school, and most particularly, the students of our school. In losing the qualities and expertise of the above staff, it is an opportunity to welcome new faces into the school, as well as allowing some roles to be amalgamated into different structures. School Uniform ChangeSeveral families have asked about ordering the new navy shirts. Whilst your enthusiasm is appreciated, the shirts are yet to be onsite and will not be available until the new year. Please keep existing shirts as they remain current for the next three years.

The P&C intends providing one shirt to each existing student and once this has occurred, new shirts will be available to new families and then opened to existing students. This will hopefully allow for the smoothest possible roll out.

Kindy OrientationKindy O concludes tomorrow. A big thank you to all who have participated over the three weeks. We look forward to a positive start to school in the new year.

Christmas Spirit - Candy CanesWhilst our school enjoys the festive season it is important to emphasise that we have a number of students who should not/cannot eat sugary products. Sending Christmas Cards to school is great, but the inclusion of candy canes is causing some concerns, especially for students who have a sugar intolerance.

Please enjoy the lead up to Christmas, but staff request candy canes NOT be sent along to school as these are often eaten before the day commences and impact on both the behaviour and learning of numerous students. The support of parents in this area is appreciated.

Carols in the ParkThe Woodburn Public School Choir will be singing at Carols in the Park at Riverview Park, Woodburn Saturday 11 December 2016(this includes all children in KJ. 1/2J and 2/3R as well as senior choir). Our choir has been performing at this event for several years now and we have been working hard toward this performance all term. In order for us to perform and to be a success we will need as many of the children in the School Choir to attend. The children are to come dressed in red, green and white clothes. They can also wear anything Christmassy e.g. a Santa hat, tinsel or antlers. Carols in the park will begin at 7:00pm. Meet Miss Johnston at 7:15 pm near the performance area for a 7:30 pm start!
