Why do jobs leave Michigan?

• Goods (like automobiles) are being produced elsewhere.

•These goods are selling well in the United States and worldwide.

• Avoid rules about work, set by unions• Avoid taxes and rules about work and

pollution, set by the government• Want people around the world to buy cars

– Don’t want to ship cars around the world– And want people to have jobs so they can buy

cars– So move factories closer to these new markets
