Sustainable Bottled Water Factory, Offices and Environment MuseumRoland Wolroos-RitterFall 2011
Premise:The project evolved from extensive research on global fresh water supplies and the global bottled water industry. The project is a compilation of research and analysis of the future of the water bottle industry, and a design proposal for a sustainable bottled water factory in Downtown Los Angeles, that takes advantage of locally grown biofuels to not only produce biodegradable bottles, but also reduce and clean manufacturing water waste and other chemical pollutants being dumped into the LA River. The design proposal is a hybrid factory, office, and musuem that both physical and visual connections to create a better synergy with public and private building occupants.

One of my experimental graphic design projects became one of the primary selected art pieces for Facebook data centers globally. The final graphics are 25’ x 9’ wall mosaic for the multi-puropose room at the Forest City Data, along with the Prineville and Sweden data centers, featuring over 10,000 profile photos from both Facebook employees and members of the community that opt into a Facebook page. The pages were coordinated with PR and local media to further our involvement with the community and show appreciation to Facebook users.

New Roski School of Fine Art
STRUCTURE
Frank EscherSpring 2011
Premise:The New Roski School of Fine Art serves as a new beacon of art and culture for the USC campus, integrating a new Fisher Art Museum, as well as new unified facilities for the undergrad and graduate art school. Due to the density of the project, the architecture is conceived as a condensed solid that is voided from the interior, creating a rich, light-filled atrium space for students to interact. The project sought to connect the art and architecture school programs both horizontally and vertically through the programed courtyard and new classroom spaces.

Kimbell Art Museum AnalysisRennie Tang, 202bSpring 2009
Premise:This exercise allowed me to illustrate, critically analyze, structurally deconstruct, and unpack the concepts, plans, sectional qualities, systems, and organizational principles behind the Kimbell Art Museum in Fort Worth, Texas by Louis Kahn.
Hand DrawingJoe Sturges and Lee OlveraFall 2007
Premise:These drawings are using a variety of different media, including pen and ink, graphite, charcoal, and colored pencil. Many of the drawings are of on-campus buildings which we studied throughout the semester. There are additional drawings included from my study abroad throughout Spain and the rest of Europe.
USC Solar Decathalon 2013 Proposal - Plenum HouseGary PaigeFall 2011
Premise:My winning USC’s concept for a high-performance, net-zero-energy, solar home al-lowed our university to compete in the 2013 international competition and is motivated by research into porosity and flow. Conceived of as a spatial manifold that modulates the flow of natural phenomena such as sunlight, air, and rain in order to conserve and optimize energy usage, the Plenum House is conceived as a flexible, affordable, and energy-responsive alternative to the generic stucco boxes and McMansions that populate Los Angeles.
Barcelona Densification Strand : Catalytic Urbanism
Kim ColemanFall 2010
Premise:The development of the new densification strand in Poble Nou utilizes infill optimization and maximized density as driving forces for the creation of the project. By exploring new possibilities across all scales, the strand redevelopment impacts not only its immediate urban surroundings, but also creates new city connections, introduces new programmatic stimulators, and allows people to manipulate both the indoor and outdoor spaces according to their needs. While the project is flexible at a smaller scale, leaving much of the new urban space free to define its own programs, the new infill buildings are squeezed into small sites that were originally low-density, under utilized programs. The forms of the new buildings all peel out into the strand to open up views of the city surroundings.
