2. What is the process that changes a liquid to a gas?
3. What change of state happens in condensation?
4. How can you change a liquid back to a solid after the solid melts?
The Changing States of Matter
Matter can change states through different kinds of processes.
Solids such as ice become liquids through a process called
melting. Freezing liquids will change them back into their solid
form. When liquids are heated, they become gases through
evaporation. For example, water becomes steam when you boil
it. Warm air (gases) changes into a liquid on cold surfaces. This
process is called condensation. This is why you see drops of
water on the side of a cup after you take it out of the refrigerator.
