This past weekend was one of the most BRUTAL

• Sebastian Proedl of Bremen brutally kicked in the face by a

Kaiserslautern defender

- broken nose + broken jaw + concussion

- will not be back this season

• Benedikt Hoewedes suffered a broken jaw – 6-8 weeks out• Benedikt Hoewedes suffered a broken jaw – 6-8 weeks out

While some of these injuries were not caused

by malicious play by the opposing team.....

some of them clearly were....

intentional.

The 10 x 10 Rule

• Use video replays extensively to do post-game reviews by select panel of officials

• Panel will review injury replays -> Was the foul intentional or accidental?

• Charge a hefty penalty consisting of the following measures:

1. Suspended the guilty player with 10 match suspension

(across all levels of competition including internationals)

2. The team for whom the foul-committing player plays must pay

10 times the salary of the injured player to the injured player’s team

management –for as long as the player remains out of commission.

Players injured for life to receive remuneration equal to the projected

cumulative future career earnings for that player.

• Create an international players union to protect the rights of and help ensure the

health and well-being of all professional players around the world.

The 10 x 10 Rule • All high level leagues – Bundesliga, Premier League, La Liga, Serie A, Champions League,

South American leagues – should use video replays extensively in order to do post-game

reviews by an official panel of experienced officials

• The panel assigned to a match will review injury generating fouls or plays to determine to

what degree the foul committed was intentional or accidental beyond a reasonable doubt

• If it has been determined that the injurious foul/play was intentional beyond a

reasonable doubt, a penalty should be charged against the player and team responsible for

committing the foul consisting of the following measures:

1. The player who committed the injurious foul/play should be suspended from

playing at least 10 matches (across any and every league that the team

competes/plays in as well as international competitions).

This is why it is crucial for the domestic leagues, FIFA, UEFA agree to cooperate

in the enforcement of this rule.

2. The team for whom the foul-committing player plays must pay 10 times the

salary of the injured player to the injured team’s management – for as long as

the player remains out of commission. If a player is injured for life, the injured

player will receive the proceeds of a disability insurance policy equivalent to the

estimated/projected cumulative career earnings of the player.

RepercussionsIf leagues don’t act together to crack down now on “thugs” any of the following

will happen:

• the quality of play will decline dramatically (as good players drop like flies and

more lower quality players are left playing the game)

• lower level (poor) teams will climb the tables at the expense of the rich clubs.

•All teams will begin to take justice in their own hands and take out perpetrators

and/or inflict vengeful fouls to get even and/or inflict vengeful fouls to get even

• star players will make much less money because they will not be perceived as

worth the risk of higher compensation levels (as the possibly for injury remains

high)

• thug quality soccer can and will provoke and incite brutish behavior by hard

core fans

• thug quality soccer takes away from the beauty of the game and

will inspire young players to play more like animals than artisans

On behalf of the majority of soccer fans,

coaches, and skilled players -

ProSoccerTactics.com urges FIFA, UEFA, and

all domestic leagues to meet and agree on

a blanket policy that enforces clean play a blanket policy that enforces clean play

and punishes thugs and teams that

advocate brutish style of play. It is high

time to restore a sense of decency to the

game.

What do YOU think?

Do you agree that the game must be made

safer for players?

Or do you feel that because soccer is a

contact sport, brutal fouls and injuries will contact sport, brutal fouls and injuries will

always be a part of the game?

How would you suggest going about

making the game safer?
