    Worldwalk(Alteration)Level: 9thRange: 30 ydsComponents: V, S, M

Area of Effect: 20-ft diskCasting Time: 9Duration: 1 turn/levelSaving Throw: NoneAuthor: Unknown

By means of this powerful magic, the spell caster can open a portal toanother dimension or plane. The portal appears as a disk up to 10 feet in radius,on the far side of which is the other dimension or plane.

The worldwalkportal can be cast up to 30 yards away and can beoriented either vertically or horizontally. One side shows the opening into theother plane, while the other is a smooth, grey disk. A portal cannot be cast intoan area already occupied by something else, though it can be cast against a wall

or other hard surface. The portal can open either into a plane known and visited by the caster

or into a previously unknown plane. In the latter case, the caster needs somematerial object from that plane in order to affect the casting (the object is notconsumed in the process of casting). Worldwalkportals cannot be opened intorandom planes - the caster must visualize the destination or must have someobject from that plane.

Both connected planes are visible through the porta1 from the other sideand creatures can pass through easily from one side to the other. Nonlivingobjects cannot pass through the portal unless they are carried by a living being.Hostile environments cannot affect those on the other side of the portal (a portalopened into the Elemental Plane of Fire would not harm anyone on the PrimeMaterial Plane unless they stepped through the portal).

Up to 10 creatures can pass through the worldwalkportal per turn.Creatures that cannot fit through the portal cannot make the transfer unlessreduced in size by some means.

Once cast, the portal is in place for the duration of the spell or until it isdispelled either by the caster's will or a successful dispel magic spell. If acreature is in the portal when the portal is dispelled, the creature is immediatelysent to the Outlands. The status of the wizard who cast the spell does not affectthe portal.

There is a 70% chance, plus 1% per level of the spell caster, that theworldwalkconnects with the desired plane. If the portal does not reach itsintended target, it instead reaches one of the DM's choosing, including alternatePrime Material Planes, other worlds, and pocket dimensions. Once cast, the portallinks the two worlds and cannot be changed.

Notes: Rare spell from the Forgotten Realms setting. Known to be inElminster's Traveling Spellbook.
