Worship ServicesNovember 19, 2017

8:30 and 11 a.m.6:30 p.m.

The King’s Brass Tim Zimmerman, director

As stewards of God’s resources, we try not to print an excess of bulletins. We invite you to bring this bulletin with you when you return for the evening service.

Flowers The sanctuary flowers are given today to the glory of God from

the wedding of Brittany King and Evan Whisnant.

WelcomeTo Our Guests,We especially welcome you today! More information about our church is available on ourwebsite at firstpresaugusta.org. You can also visit our welcome desk in the Welcome Center, located directly behind the sanctuary.

Spiritual CareIf you would like to speak to someone about what it means to know Jesus Christ or you have any spiritual need or question, please use one of the prayer cards in the pew rack to contact one of our pastors. Our church elders are also available to speak with you. An elder and his wife will be standing next to the pastor following the service to talk or pray with you.

Children’s Check-inWe are committed to the highest level of protection possible for the children placed in ourcare on Sundays and at all church events. For this reason, we require parents of newbornsthrough fifth grade children to check in their children before they go to the nursery, SundaySchool, Catechism, Children’s Church or any other children’s activity. Kiosks are available inthe Narthex and in the Children’s Lobby. The process is quick and easy, and volunteers areavailable to assist you.

Children’s WorshipWe offer a specially designed program for children in pre-K through fourth grade during themorning services. Leaders will escort children from the sanctuary to their classrooms duringthe hymn of preparation. Parents are welcome to accompany them to observe where to pickthem up after the service. Children in pre-K through second grade remain in their classroomsuntil they are picked up by a parent.

Nursery Nurseries are provided for infants and toddlers during the worship services and SundaySchool. We provide a Mother/Infant Room (room 160) located in the Ebenezer Buildingbehind the sanctuary, and the Geneva Room is designated as a cry room for parents withfussy children. Both rooms are equipped with live video feed of the worship services. Ushersare available to direct you.

Additional Seating Please see ushers for additional overflow seating.

We are very glad to have you worshiping our gracious God with us today.

†The Call to Worship .........................................................................from Hosea 6:1-3Come, let us return to the Lord. He will revive us; he will restore us, that we may live in his presence.

Let us acknowledge the Lord; let us press on to know him.

As surely as the sun rises, he will appear;

He will come to us like the winter rains, like the spring rains that water the earth.

The Lord be with you.And with your spirit.Let us worship God!

I dare not lift my guilty eyes, I hide my lips in trembling shame. And in the darkness of my soul, I shrink from your rekindling flame.

Kyrie eleison, have mercy!

In equal measure of your love, you promise mercy,Tender compassion to the one who seeks your face.A broken heart, a fainting soul, a contrite spirit,Together cry for your forgiveness and your grace.

Against you only have I sinned, my deeds are evil in your sight;Of your forgiveness let me sing, and in my singing take delight.

Kyrie eleison, have mercy!

(Sung by all)Jesus loves me, this I know,For the Bible tells me so.Little ones to him belong; They are weak but he is strong.

Jesus loves me, he who died,Heaven’s gates to open wide.He will wash away my sin;Let his little child come in.

Yes, Jesus loves me! Yes, Jesus loves me!Yes, Jesus loves me!The Bible tells me so.

†The Pastoral Prayer and The Lord’s PrayerOur Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread, and forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory forever. Amen.

The Assurance of Pardoning Grace ........................................................Isaiah 55:6, 7Seek the Lord while he may be found; call on him while he is near.Let the wicked forsake his way and the evil man his thoughts.Let him turn to the Lord, and he will have mercy on him, and to our God, for he will freely pardon.

Gracious Lord, you are compassionate and gracious, slow to anger, and abounding in steadfast love and faithfulness. We do not want to disobey you or dishonor you. Therefore, we ask you to deliver us from tolerating the things that you hate; forgive us for being proud, for being dishonest, and for pursuing or permitting harm to others. We repent of our scheming hearts that devise wicked plans. It is so easy for us to pursue evil and give in to temptation. When pressed, we easily misrepresent the truth. We create disunity in our church, homes and community because we are self-seeking and arrogant. Our hearts are so easily deceived. We pray that you would grant us repentance leading to a knowledge of the truth; in your mercy, forgive our wickedness, rebellion, and sin. In the name of Jesus we pray, Amen. from Exodus 34, Proverbs 6, 2 Timothy 2

*‡The PeaceThe peace of the Lord be with you always.

And also with you.

Chancel Choir

Love divine, all loves excelling, joy of heaven, to earth come down.Fix in us thy humble dwelling, all thy faithful mercies crown!Jesus, thou art all compassion, pure, unbounded love thou art;Visit us with thy salvation, enter every trembling heart.

Breathe, O breathe thy loving Spirit into every troubled breast:Let us all in thee inherit, let us find thy promised rest.Take away the love of sinning, Alpha and Omega be;End of faith, as its beginning, set our hearts at liberty.

Come, Almighty to deliver, let us all thy life receive;Suddenly return and never, nevermore thy temples leave.Thee we would be always blessing, serve thee as thy hosts above,Pray and praise thee without ceasing, glory in thy perfect love.

Finish, then, thy new creation, pure and spotless let us be;Let us see thy great salvation, perfectly restored in thee.Changed from glory into glory, till in heaven we take our place;Till we cast our crowns before thee, lost in wonder, love, and praise!
