Creating actionable insights

Our methodology

Using highly-developed research and mapping skills, we gather intelligence and collate

information about the people, organisations and markets in which you compete for

talent.

This knowledge is translated into actionable insights that will transform your talent

acquisition and resourcing strategy and deliver sustainable organisational success.

Our unique approach will help you gain a deep understanding of the location,

motivations, perceptions, salaries and career decision making processes of ‘best-in-

class’ talent around the world.

We make the invisible, visible. Unlike recruitment companies, our focus is on

discovering high performers who aren’t visible in the marketplace, who don’t appear on

CV databases and who typically aren’t actively looking to move.

What we deliver

We are passionate about using

research to find innovative solutions

to complex resourcing issues. We

deliver results – first time-every time.

We think strategically to deliver

operational results that inform

business strategy.

We are helping clients to reduce the

Creating actionable insights

Bespoke Insight

We’re in this for the long term. We don’t just focus on filling your immediate openings.

Instead, we use the insight we gather for your long term benefit to create a sustainable

pipeline of high-performing people to meet your current and future opportunities. We

don’t have our own database - everything we do is bespoke.

Our retained fees are a straightforward reflection of the number of days our

researchers are focussed on your needs. It means we don’t charge placement fees

arbitrarily based on a percentage of salary and there are no hidden extras for project

management, scoping or reporting.

We know that one size doesn’t fit all. You can rest assured that we use the most

sophisticated, targeted and focused telephone and web-based research techniques

available to deliver the vital intelligence that your organisation needs.

We absolutely understand the need to mix flexibility with structure, process and

previous experience. That’s why our approach isn’t a ‘one-size-fits-all’ solution - it

allows us to design and tailor an individual solution that matches your requirements.

How We Work

Page 8: Write Research Company - Technology Practice

What makes us different

Why Write Research?

We think differently – we

think talent, we think

intelligence, and that leads to

recruitment, as and when

your business needs to

replace or grow.

We do not maintain a

candidate database for our

own purpose . Every

candidate identified on

your behalf is sourced

exclusively for your

organisation.

A genuine partnership where

you retain strategic and

management control of your

talent acquisition process –

delegating as much, or as

little, as you require.

Our focus is placed firmly

on ‘passive candidates to

help you build

relationships with talent

who want to work for you,

not those just looking for a

job.

Visible added value. We

deliver superior candidates,

market intelligence and

organisational insight for a

fraction of the expense of

traditional methods.

Our cost model is

transparent. Clients only

pay for the time invested by

our team. Multiple

placements can be made

from our work at no

additional cost.

CASE STUDIES

Building a cloud talent pipeline for a global technology solutions consultancy

Write Research Case Study

As a result of recent and expected major new client wins, our client anticipated an

immediate to short term (0-6 months) requirement for cloud talent, at all levels from

manager to director, across Western Europe and North America. We were engaged to

build, develop and manage talent pipelines of the strongest cloud talent in the market.

We identified over 300 cloud talent professionals and, aside from successfully filling eight

immediate vacancies, are actively managing relationships for our client with over 60 of

these individuals so that they are ready to move into the business as and when vacancies

arise. Not only have we built and developed these pipelines, but we have delivered

useable insight back to our client such as candidate perceptions of our client as both a

brand and a potential employer; as well as information regarding remuneration levels and

career motivations to aid our client in candidate attraction.

Ultimately, this has significantly reduced the time to hire for roles critical to business

strategy. In addition, the multiple hires made from one project, and the ability for future

hires, significantly reduced cost per hire in comparison to traditional recruitment

agencies.

Locating a Global Delivery Director for a global technology solutions and managed services

provider

Write Research Case Study

As part of a global expansion plan, our client engaged Write Research Company to carry

out a search for a new role within the business. The individual would be responsible for a

change and transformation consultancy team of 360 people and be part of the Executive

Leadership team. The successful candidate would be a high profile, high calibre candidate

with credibility and presence. They would be able to operate at the highest levels across

the organisation, with a deep understanding of delivery methodologies and with the

capability to turn around programmes with delivery issues.

We identified and engaged the successful candidate from a major business technology

provider, where he held a Senior Vice President role. The shortlist we presented was so

strong that our client made an additional appointment, a direct report to the global

delivery director. As all information we gather belongs to the client, additional hires are

made at no extra charge therefore significantly reducing cost to hire for senior roles.

This placement for a business critical role ensured business continuity as well as reducing

the cost to hire in comparison to traditional search agencies.

Talent search for an SVP - Sales, North America within the Technology Industry

Write Research Case Study

Our client, a British-based, global technology distributor had identified a poor performing

incumbent in a senior position and required a highly confidential search into the market

for a replacement, and to enable objective benchmarking against the current incumbent.

Targeting a mutually identified list of companies to search for candidates, we used a

combination of research methods including people intelligence, networks, client

intelligence and market intelligence. A long list was provided to the client of what good

looks like externally, along with accompanying career history, CVs and contact details of

target individuals for the role.

The information gathered provided the client with warm, engaged and pre-screened

candidates, which the client then approached. The client was able to benchmark the

current incumbent against the best, and to make confidential approaches to a potential

replacement. The results of the search allowed our client to reduce time to hire and

maintain competitive advantage in the North American market by hiring the best in class

senior sales talent.

Talent Search for a Global Technology Company moving into the Far East

Write Research Case Study

Our client, a technology company with over 30,000 employees, was growing into the Far East and

required a Talent Acquisition leader to oversee their Japan-based growth.

Following a detailed brief with stringent requirements, including the individual needing to be from

the technology sector, fluent in Japanese and English and living in Japan, our researchers identified

relevant individuals and engaged the best available talent meeting all the requirements of the client

via a blend of primary telephone and secondary desk research. Following our research, we

approached 99 individuals who we thought had the right potential for the role. From our approaches

we narrowed down the candidates to three CVs that were shortlisted and sent to the client.

The client asked to interview two of the individuals, with one being offered the role, who was in fact

from their direct competitor. We were also able to deliver to the client detailed team structures,

names and contact details of key individuals at the correct levels. Our client was then in a position

to hire more candidates for similar roles from the best available talent in the market, safeguarding

business continuity and beginning to build a talent pipeline for the Far East business.

Supporting leadership succession in a FTSE100 business process outsourcing company

Write Research Case Study

To support exponential growth, our client, a FTSE100 business process outsourcing business, was

seeking leadership talent across their group within finance, transformation, operations, programme

management and project delivery; typically at base salary levels of £100,000 to £200,000. The

business had relied on executive search providers to fill senior roles in the past however, they found

that vacancies were taking months to fill (if filled at all), that cost-per-hire was rising, and that

succession planning and talent pipelining for leadership positions was weak across the business.

Our client’s Chief Talent and Resourcing Director engaged Write Research to manage and deliver a

retained twelve month assignment to help the business identify, pipeline and hire senior talent

across five core roles: finance director, transformation director, programme director, partnership

director and operations director, all who would be deployed into senior positions as and when

vacancies arose.

Over a 12 month period, we identified 1200 senior individuals across the five role streams,

approached 600 people and attracted 220 CVs. Within a short period, we made ten very senior

hires across the role streams, at a combined base salary of around £1.52m. Based on a typical

head-hunt fee of 25%, these candidates would have cost our client £380k in total; 190% of the cost

of the entire project. Our client has since filled twelve senior vacancies from the work we have

delivered to date. As all the intelligence gathered belongs to the client, they can tap into the talent

pipeline any time to make additional hires at no extra cost.
