Fractions
When finding a fraction, first we need to identify
what a whole is and what a part is.
To find a half of an object, we need to cut the whole
into two equal parts.
If the two parts are not equal then this is not a half.
Task 2: Find items of food or objects in your house and cut them in half.

When finding half of a number we share it equally by two (just
like when you was dividing).
To share the dots between two you just need to draw dots on
each group on the bar chart.
Example: Share the total number by two.
Just pretend you are sharing sweets with your adult, you do not
want them to have kore than you do you. Share them equally
and count how many you have. That number is ½ of the total.
Challenge – Can you think of your own even number
to find one half of.
How many things can you think of that
have been made by a person and therefore
are a human feature?
Look out of your window and see if you can
find any.

Fractions
When finding half of a number we share it equally by
two (just like when you was dividing).
We find a half two ways
First count how many objects there are altogether. Then you
need to know, ½ means 1 out of 2. So that means we can group
the objects into 2s. Then count how many groups there are.
There are 10 counters. There are 5 groups of 2.
So ½ of 10 = 5

Fractions.
When finding a half, sometimes it is not possible to share between 2.
If you cannot move the objects then I have a trick.
½ means 1 out of 2. So that means we can group the objects into 2s.
Example: There are 20 tennis balls altogether. What is half of 20?
Now we have groups of 2, lets count the groups.
There are 10 groups.
So ½ of 20 = 10
