Drink driving strikes again.

A mother of four young children has died after a hit and run involving a suspected drunk

driver.

Primary school teacher Amanda Jones, 34, was struck by a black BMW M2 convertible on

Hill Lane yesterday around 6pm on her way home from work. The driver is believed to have

been drinking at The Kings Oak pub just before the accident.

Bartender Mark Porter said the unidentified man had downed seven pints of bitter. He

added: “I was leaving work and saw the BMW fly out of the car park as the woman was

crossing the road. She didn’t stand a chance. He drove off without even stopping to see if

she was OK.”

Amanda, whose four children are under five, was rushed to Southampton General Hospital

suffering with severe head injuries. She was pronounced dead four hours later with her

husband Mike by her side.

Detective Sgt Jim Handley the police officer head of the case has said “This car hit Mrs

Jones with such for that it must have been damaged.” The driver is believed to be aged 18-

20 with short dark hair, wearing a distinctive yellow and pink spotted baseball cap.

Anyone with information is asked to come forward and call 0800 123 456.

Press Release by Happiness of PR

Revlon are launching a new range of ‘hypoallergenic eye shadows.’ The products will be

released in the middle of May 2011. They are designed to help eczema suffers to wear

fabulous make-up products that they may have previously felt could irritate their skin. These

hypoallergenic eye shadows will aid people that experience sensitive or dry eyelids, allergies

or eczema.

Canadian actress Rachel McAdams will be the face of Revlon’s new line, and will help

promote the launch party by sharing her struggle with eczema and the her embarrassment it

caused her. She said: “Beauty doesn’t always have to be painful, with these eye shadows

you can look your best without harming your skin.”

The unique selling point of these eye shadows is that the ingredients used are natural, and

the entire product is non-offensive, allowing the eye shadows not to irritate eyelids. It is

unlike most eye products on the market where the odour, consistency and ingredients

overall can be strong, leading to sensitive and aggravated skin for the wearer.

The launch party will take place at 3pm on the 14th May 2011 at the Devere venue in

London.

YouTube beauty gurus and bloggers will be invited to the launch party, they will then be

asked to test the products and review them. The process will be able to increase promotion

of the eye shadow range, and raise awareness of the advantages of utilizing these products

instead of other branded make-up.

Sabrina Salvatierra’s Biography

Sabrina Salvatierra born and raised in Bournemouth began her beauty blogging career at

the age of 17. With fashion and beauty as a hobby, she began reviewing products sent by

PR companies asking for opinions and feedback, as well as studying Public Relations and

Communications at Southampton Solent University.

Sabrina had always been fascinated with the communications side of PR, and wanted to

work for a well-established cosmetics company. At just the tender age of 23 an opportunity

occurred at Revlon, Sabrina’s favourite drugstore make-up brand. She began working as a

PR consultant, as well as working as a blogger for their website. She also briefly helped out

with contacting beauty bloggers and Youtube gurus to help raise awareness of new products

launched by Revlon, which was convenient as she had previously made many contacts

through her blogging years.

Her job then transferred to events management, where she helped organise a variety of

large events, where Revlon would invite the chic celebrity faces of the company: Jessica

Alba, Jessica Biel and Halle Berry to promote new products such as the ‘Customeyes’

mascara and the ‘Colorburst’ lipglosses.

Sabrina will continue working in events management, planning launch parties, as well as

charitable events, allowing her to grow within the company in addition to widening her

contacts and succeeding at her career.

Rachel McAdams will be the face of the

fabulous new eye shadow range launched

by Revlon cosmetics. The new range will

be launched in the middle of May 2011,

being sold at both drugstores Boots and

Superdrug, as well as online stores, and

internationally.

The products are unique from any other

eyes shadows on the market; they cater

for people with sensitive and eyelids prone

to skin conditions. The eye shadows’

unique selling point is that they are hypo-

allergenic meaning they are suitable for

everyone.

Rachel McAdams is a known eczema

sufferer, who has always been open about

her struggle with the skin condition. She

will be helping Revlon promote and raise

awareness of the range, by talking to the

press about her suffer with eczema, and

her lack of confidence she had with

wearing make-up. Rachel will also be

shown in adverts and billboards,

displaying the eye shadows and the

tagline: “Beauty doesn’t always have to be

painful, with these eye shadows you can

look your best without harming your skin.”

Revlon decided to create the range, as

they currently sell hypo-allergenic

foundations, and received great reviews

and raved about products. Their new aim

is to widen their market, and make it

easier and more accessible for customers

who suffer from mild skin conditions to be

able to have the confidence and ability to

use Revlon’s products.

Make-up that is suitable for skin condition

sufferers is hard to find on the market. The

dermatologists offer products, however

they can be overpriced. Revlon have

taken that into consideration, now

providing make-up that is suitable for

everyone and that is reasonably priced for

a high-end drugstore brand.

The collection will consist of 20 different

eye shadows, ranging from neutral colours

to brights. Look out for the collection and

Web log

“Bournemouth, the town filled with oldies” A statement that most of my university friends

seem to stand by.

If you were to be following the stereotypical view of Bournemouth or even the county Dorset,

then you would probably imagine it to be the idyllic location to bag yourself a granny, or

replace a dodgy arthritically affected hip joint.

Is this true? As a local Bournemouth citizen I can say no. There may have been a time

where this was partially true, but come on now get with the times. Bournemouth is constantly

attracting youthful, ambitious people in search of new careers or paths of education.

Bournemouth is now filled with a large amount of international students, which is all down to

the increase of English language schools over the past 10 – 20 years. This has allowed

many families to earn extra income through renting out rooms for around £120 a week

during the summer, including my parents.

Having many language schools around has now transformed Bournemouth from being one

of the most racist towns in the Dorset, to one of the most multicultural towns within the south

of the UK. In my opinion it has saved Bournemouth from being just a town filled of chavy

youths, teenagers are now meeting people from around the world and finally learning about

culture, geography and history, moving them away from some of their ignorant and childish

views.

When visiting London I can easily state that it is a city that is constantly alive, with

multicultural people rushing around, tourists visiting museums and locals going to work and

school. I love London; it is a completely different lifestyle from living in a town, so many

opportunities, such an independent city, with everything available. When visiting I love the

experience, however when I get back to Dorset, I just cannot help but feel relieved. Being

able to walk through the streets without being pushed and pulled around, it is just so much

Page 13: Written Communication Portfolio

Sabrina Salvatierra/Q79777040/CAC026

more relaxed and laid back living in Dorset. That is without doubt the reason why I heart

Bournemouth, and the reason why people feel the need to move or go for holidays in

Bournemouth. It is now the tranquil town that has began to lure copious amounts of people,

changing it for the better.

When I think of Bournemouth or Poole I visualise beautiful beaches, expensive houses,

hundreds of tourists and youthful teens. Walking through the beach on a summer’s day, you

can witness a variety of people, locals walking their dogs, tourists sunbathing, and students

having bbqs.

The pier is constantly surrounded by joyful teenagers; it has also attracted surfers to the

area who have certainly strengthened the local economy, by staying in hotels or

experiencing the lively nightlife in the town centre in the wee hours.

If you take something from this blog, it will be: do not just go by the stereotype, go look at the

new and improved Bournemouth. Relax, take a walk on the beach and have a bbq, it will

definitely brighten your day up!
