He has worked wonders thisseason, master minding his team to their first cup-final. Expect him to be wearing shortscome rain or shine! An avid Sunderland fan, Scot is hoping the season ends on a high witha League-Cup win with Tigers, and survival from relegation for the Black Cats.

Coach: Callum Wetherall: Great commitment to the club, the coach has played acrucial part in the run to the final. Someone you can rely on, especially when it comes tolooking afer match balls and corner flags!

#3 Josh Westerling – Defender – Very reliable defender who can play anywherealong the back line. Josh has been at the club for two seasons. A West-Ham fan and keenon politics, Josh has been a great person to have at the club.

#4 Chris Kaye – Defender – A solid central defender who has saved Tigers on count-less occasions week in week out. Uses his reading of the game to his advantage and is avery good header of the ball, all be it with a unique technique.

#10 Toby Lawrence (c) – Midfielder – The talisman of this team. The top-scorerand skipper has not missed a Tigers game in two years. Always puts in 110% when playing.Today’s final will be his 50th appearance for the club in two seasons: a legend.

    TOBY LAWERENCE

I can safely say on behalf of thewhole team that over the last twoyears we have thoroughly enjoyedourselves when playing for Tigers;the mix of good quality footballand playing with your mates is asgood as it gets.

We started the season well withthe new additions to the squad, and there were high hopes for theseason ahead. However, as we didlast season, we dropped points in

games we should not have, and lostthe chance to win the title.

As for this cup run, I can honestlysay that I’ve never played with agroup of players who want to win somuch. The last two rounds we’ve

shown real character to beat twohigher ranked teams who thoughtthey’d walk over us.

Credit given to Elliot for makingus believe that we can win toughgames. As he said before the

quarter final against Prestwood‘We have never over achieved andreached our potential’ he went on

to say that this is our last chanceto prove ourselves and do some-thing good as a team, and nowhere we are in the final.

It’s great for Tigers to have twoteams in the final, and guaranteesthe club’s first silverware. But Idon’t think that changes anything, and both teams will be fully goingfor it. Winning the cup would bethe best send off  any of us couldhave asked for, so we’re going to

put 100% into the game, and I’dlike to think we’ll come out on top.

I’d like to give a massive shout-out to our chairman Ed, who hasorganised everything behind thescenes, and has been the heart

and soul of Tigers for the last fiveyears. He’s persevered throughthe hard times and is now beingrewarded with days like this. Allthe progress this club has made isdown to him, and he deserves allthe good things that come to him.

U18 captain Toby Lawrence has played every gamesince joining Tigers, making his 50th consecutive ap-

    pearance today!

    U17A

Tigers’ first team to grace Division 1. It has been a memorable season forthe side – their first together – as they have been extremely successful in allcompetitions. A top four finish in the league has been rightly over-lookedby a appearance in today’s Final. Quarter-finalists in the County Cup, have

also reached the semis of the Development Cup.

Manager: Gus Burton: Tigers’ top goalscorer to date, Burton opted to repay the clubin his role as manager this season. A reliable guy, who has the respect of his players. Burtonhas taken his footballing talent from the pitch to the dug-out in what has been an excep-tional season.

he goes to university next season.

#2 Finn Mason – Midfielder – Quality football player, who goes about his businesswith no fuss. A crucial part of the midfield and one of the hardest working players in the

    team.

#3 Liam Bradley – Defender – Has played every minute of every game. A technicallysound full-back who also likes to bomb forward. A key player and is very rarely beaten by his

    man.

    26 | HOWARD CUP FINAL

We had a tough start to the seasonwith very inconsistent performanc-es, however, I put this down to thetime it took us to know each otheras players, and not just mates.

An injury put me out for aroundtwo months which was obviouslyvery disappointing, but the boysdid well without me. Upon returnI am pleased to say we have onlylost one game. The key to this is

not only the bond within our team, but also the eff ort players haveput into progressing their personalability a lot further than expected. The addition of some players aferthe start of the season has had amomentous impact, with the likesof George Paynter helping to so-lidify the defence along with HarryLayton, and Tom Salter.

I think it is fair to say everyonewithin the team has contributedto our season and most notablyour recent run of form, from our

top goal-scorer Sam Bates, whohas recently been tied down withhis new girlfriend, to Tom Line in

goal; however, recently the boyshave been working well togetherand a lot harder as individuals withthe final fast approaching, and theprospect of another one to follow.

Of course we as a team know howtough a game the final will be withthe U18 side being in good formtoo, and fancying themselves asthe team to go on and win thetournament, but they have onlyseen a glimpse of what we are ca-

pable of, and the degree to whichwe have progressed as a team. Wecan only get beter.

Hopefully there will be a goodturnout and us boys will be able toimpress and lay down a foundationfor more silverware next season, that is if Sam Bates doesn’t com-mit all his time to his girlfriend. Asmy vice captain he has performedwell this year, but recently I amseeing signs of him having otherthings on his mind, however, Ifeel he may be a vital part to our

success as a team both today andin the future with his assist tallybeing off  the chart. Most notably

SAM KEENSam Keen captains the U17A side in today’s LeagueCup Final. The skipper admits it’ll be a tough task, but

    one his side can overcome...
