There are so many pieces to building the IRA foundation of knowledge that it takes a lot of nuts and bolts and “brain-power” to hold it all together. Just when you finally grasp it, they change the rules again! While it may take years to feel like you have a good confidence level and can answer almost any question thrown your way, the goal of these two days is to raise your com-fort level if you are a rookie and to reinforce your knowledge if you have a higher level of experience. You will also receive your favorite “tool” – the 275-page 2016-2017 Sunwest Training Corp’s IRA Training and Reference Manual which is not only full of easy-to-follow IRA information, but also lots of “Cheat Sheets” and “Quick Reference Tools” to get you through your day-to-day tasks of dealing with your IRA customers.
This intensive 2-day format will help you pull it all together by helping you learn the following:
1. Understanding the Top 20 Basic Terms of IRAs. 2. Next we will review the most commonly used forms to create
and complete IRA transactions. (Since this is not vendor-form-specific, please bring a copy of your bank’s IRA Appli-cation form, Contribution Form, Distribution Form and Rollo-ver Review or Rollover Certification Form as well as any other forms you may have questions on).
3. As the day goes on, you will pick up knowledge of the IRA plan types, Traditional, Roth and SEP.
4. As we go into the second day, we will nail down the use of the proper terminology of “Rollover” vs. “Transfer” when moving money from an employer plan to an IRA and from an IRA to an IRA. IRA to IRA Rollover rules had big changes effective 2015!!
5. Finally, as the project is completed, you will master the com-plicated areas of IRA Distributions to owners and beneficiar-ies and IRS reporting, resulting in a better picture of this complicated topic.
Whether you are looking to gain basic knowledge of IRAs, raise your comfort level or sharpen your skills with the most up-to-date rules and regulations, this two day format will cover everything!
The agenda for each day is as follows:
Day 1: IRA Basic Issues
IRA Terminology—Top 20 Terms
Explanation of IRA Forms (Not Forms Specific – please bring your own forms including Application, Contribution form, Distribution, Rollover Review or Certification and any other commonly used forms)
Beneficiary Designations including Primary and Contingent, Trusts and Estates
Qualifications, Contribution Limits and other regulations
for a: - Traditional IRA - Roth and Conversion Roth - SEP IRA’s contributions and IRS reporting
Day 2: IRA Intermediate/Advanced Issues
Health Savings Accounts
Qualified Plan Rollovers to a Traditional or Roth IRA
- Direct vs. Indirect
IRA to IRA Indirect Rollovers and Direct Transfers –
Once-per-12-month rule clarifications
Distributions - Before age 59 ½ - At age 70 ½ including mandatory notices - 9 Biggest Mistakes of IRA Beneficiary Payouts
- Overview and Explanation of IRS Reporting Requirements - Plus any updated changes to IRAs proposed and enacted for 2016/17
There will be a review at the end of each day’s class.
Each day can be attended independently, but for a more comprehensive learning experi-ence, both days are recommended. The same book will be used for both days.
Who Should Attend? New Account Representatives, Certificate of Deposit Personnel, Savings Counselors, Accountholder Service Representatives, Investment and Trust Personnel who are newly involved in the opening, selling, marketing, or administration of IRAs. Any officer/manager who "oversees" the IRA department and may be responsible for answering IRA accountholders questions or concerns but does not actually open IRA accounts. Experienced IRA Personnel who like a slower pace workshop to cover all the new changes in a comprehensive manner.
Seminar Instructor Patrice M. Konarik is president of Sunwest Training Corp. founded over 20 years ago

Vulnerabilities in Modern Web Applications October 6, 2016
12:30 - 2:30 p.m. Mountain Time
In banking today, we are leveraging more and more web application
systems to create internal efficiencies, deliver new products and
services to customers and expand our capabilities as an organization.
Web applications are convenient and flexible, but introduce new risks
which we saw with vulnerabilities like Heartbleed and Bashbug. This
discussion will provide tools and techniques to help evaluate the
security of your organization’s website. As many modern web
applications interact with a variety of third-party services, the
discussion will also explore how data moves through a web application
and, more importantly, how it leaves. Special attention will be paid to
the interaction of data with third-party services and the impact it has
on the security of the data the system is handling.
Highlights
The following topics will be addressed:
• How modern web applications work and common weak points are in
their security
• Interaction with third-party services
• Protective measures individuals can take to secure their online
presence

Workplace Violence October 12, 2016
12:30 - 2:30 p.m. Mountain Time
It’s essential that we train employees to recognize pre-incident
indicators and report them before an act of violence happens, but it is
also critical to have a plan in place to respond should the unthinkable
occur. This presentation examines recent cases of workplace violence
and includes testimonies from those who have survived. We will
analyze these cases to identify unheeded warnings and then identify
physical security measures and procedures that either were not in place or were ignored. Participants will have a clear understanding of
existing problems, how to recognize warning signs, prevention
techniques and how to respond in an active shooter situation.
Have you ever thought how you would react in a robbery? A violent
confrontation? An active shooter situation? This session will benefit
you not only in your work life, but your personal life as well.
Highlights
• Recent case studies
• Recognizing warning signs
• Handling domestic violence situations
• “Best Practice” methods for diffusion and prevention • Preventive physical security measures
• Active shooter response
• Types of workplace violence
• De-escalation techniques

Decoding Financial Statements & Tax Returns for Different Business Entities
October 17 & 24, 2016 12:30 - 2:30 p.m. Mountain Time
We will examine a small business and first look at financial results
using accrual method accounting with the firm as a C corporation. From there, we'll recast the numbers with cash accounting, then look
at financial results as a sole proprietorship, a partnership or limited
liability company (LLC), then as an S corporation.
Key analytical and conceptual issues covered include:
• What are the typical goals of business owners when they decide on
a legal entity structure?
• What is the "double tax" that is such a big negative for C
corporations?
• What are the advantages and disadvantages of the most common
legal structures?
• C corporations • Sole proprietorships
• Partnerships and LLCs
• S corporation
• What are key features of financial statements and tax returns of
these same structures?
• Steps in reconciling "ordinary income" on a pass-through
entity tax return to net income on the internal financial
statement.
• Overview of pass-through entities and the role of Schedule K-
1s.
• Advantages and disadvantages, from a taxation standpoint, of how owners take out cash and/or recognize income (loss).
• A methodology for bringing in either distributed or distributable
cash flow from a business into personal or global cash flow.

Interest Rate Risk: Operating in a “Normal” Rate Environment
October 19, 2016 12:30 - 2:30 p.m. Mountain Time
This was the question asked by the FDIC Field Office Supervisor who
asked our speaker, Greg Rains, to train 23 of his examiners recently in
Tampa, FL. This webinar presentation answers the question and then
explores the “real risks” banks face when they have significant levels of interest rate risk in their balance sheets. It will also separate the real
risks from the perceived risks, giving bankers some solid responses to
regulator inquiries about rate risk.
Regulators have been told they better not miss the next “big thing”.
This is because they missed the entire last “big thing”, the real estate
crisis. The next “big thing” just has to be rapidly rising rates. The
warnings began in 2008 when the Fed went to zero on the Fed Funds
target. While the perpetual focus remains on the potential for short
term rates to rise rapidly, many of the more important concerns have
faded.
Highlights
• Interest rate risk to a bank’s equity vale is more of a liquidity issue than a capital issue
• Field examiners don’t really understand true risk involved
• When Estimated Value of Equity (EVE) is out of policy it should
be treated like a “check engine” light
Speaker
Greg Rains is a Senior Vice President with CenterState Bank. His
primary responsibilities include working with community banks
throughout the country, consulting them on managing investment
portfolios and interest rate risk. Prior to joining CenterState, Greg
spent over 20 years with the former National Bank of Commerce and
Alabama National BanCorporation in Birmingham, Alabama. For the
past several years he has served as one of the lead instructors at a Bond
School he helped create during his time at Alabama National. He has
continued this educational outreach in his role at CenterState. Greg maintains several securities licenses and is a graduate of Auburn
University.
Audience
CEOs, CFOs & directors and ALCO.

Information Security Basics: Board of Directors Edition
October 20, 2016 12:30 - 2:30 p.m. Mountain Time
BODs are ultimately responsible for the security of customer information, proving expectations and direction to management. Their
responsibility includes approving financial investments into
cybersecurity and creating accountability for security operations.
Board members need to better understand cyber security so that they
can make good decisions, allocate the necessary resources and provide
the oversight regulators require.
Examiners are tired of seeing that “the board doesn’t get it” or “the
board just rubber stamps our information security program annually.”
This was highlighted in the 2015 Cybersecurity Assessment guidance
from the FFIEC, which was derived from over 500 special
assessments of financial institutions. This discussion will enable you to make a difference by addressing the board’s information security
awareness deficiencies and breaking down your Information Security
Program into bite-sized pieces for the board to digest. Board members
need clarity on CORE items as it relates to Information Security.
Highlights
• IT risk assessment
• Policies and procedures
• IT audit
• Continual education

New Business Accounts: The Interview, CIP, New CDD Rules & Authority
October 21, 2016 12:30 - 2:30 p.m. Mountain Time
Pairs with the CIP & CDD Final Rules webinar (available on-demand), Opening Accounts Online with the New CDD requirements webinar on 10/14 and Opening
Accounts for High Risk Customers with the New CDD Requirements webinar on 11/18.
It’s a big job to “know your customer” from identification,
documentation, questions and risk to scripting this into a fluid on-
boarding process. Because there are so many types of accounts and
ways to do business (including online), it can be challenging to
determine who is authorized to open, close and transact business. How
do we set up accounts and change them as the businesses change?
What happens when someone dies? Can you keep the same EIN if a
sole proprietorship incorporates? What if the LLC members are other
businesses? And the list goes on. Understanding designations, rules
and authority on all types of business accounts assures that you are
taking proper precautions and will help you avoid costly errors. New Customer Due Diligence (CDD) will change how you open and
document your legal entity customer. This webinar will address how
to complete beneficial ownership forms and script the business
account interview. You will receive a business documentation handout
to assist you in creating checklists plus sample situations that
demonstrate how to run your CIP. We will also review account
opening procedures for foreign financial institutions and entities and
the new W-8BENE.
Highlights
• Sole proprietorship accounts
• Partnership accounts • Corporations
• Limited liability companies
• Nonprofit organizations
• Exemptions for CDD
• Record retention
• Transactional questions
• Assigning risk
• Developing a script

RESPA Section 8 Violations – They’re Back October 24, 2016
9:30 - 11:30 a.m. Mountain Time
Section 8 of the Real Estate Settlement Procedures Act (RESPA)
prohibits unearned fees and kickbacks. Over the years the Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) issued hundreds of
enforcement actions involving Section 8.
In 2011 authority for enforcing RESPA transferred from HUD to the
Consumer Financial Protection Bureau (CFPB). During CFPB's reign
the volume of Section 8 actions has dropped. While enforcement
actions under the CFPB have been fewer in number, the dollar
amounts have been jaw dropping. The settlements of these actions
range from a few thousand dollars to many millions of dollars. Failure
to comply with Section 8 can lead to jail terms in addition to the
penalties.
Highlights
Attend this webinar to gain a better understanding of:
• What transactions are covered by RESPA's prohibition against unearned fees and kickbacks
• What actions are prohibited
• What constitutes a referral fee or an unearned fee or kickback
• What compensation is permissible
• What constitutes an affiliated business arrangement and the rules that apply to such arrangements
• How to properly handle broker arrangements

When a Loan Customer Dies: What are the Top 15 Issues?
October 27, 201612:30 - 2:30 p.m. Mountain Time
As lenders, we work hard to make good underwriting decisions
regarding a borrower’s repayment ability. In addition to analyzing a
consumer’s income or the cash flow of a business, it’s a common
practice to also take a security interest in collateral. Collateral types vary greatly and each has specific requirements to perfect a security
interest and mitigate risk. One risk factor that’s difficult to predict is
death. If the death involves a sole proprietor, partner, or a key corporate
officer, it may mean that a number of high balance loans are
outstanding and repayment is uncertain. Lenders would like to be
sensitive to the loan customer’s family or help the remaining business
owners, but the compliance clock doesn’t stop ticking. What happens
now, and what are the critical issues?
Highlights
• Is the “death” a triggering event for default? What language should
be in a commercial note?
• Are “Right to Cure Notices” required?
• How should lenders handle questions about the estate?
• What information can be shared and with whom?
• What do you need before releasing the information?
• Is there standard language that your loan agreements should have?
• What protections must be extended to family members if the
borrower was a service member on active duty? This includes a
brief overview of MLA impact on covered accounts and the
definition “dependents” at the time of death.• How should notices to co-borrowers, guarantors and co-signers be
given?
• What is the effect on the foreclosure process?
• What is the impact of the NEW CFPB mortgage servicing rules
published on August 5, 2016? These changes help ensure that
those who inherit or receive property have the same protections as
the original borrower.
• Are Home Equity Lines of Credit impacted?
• How can a financial institution protect its collateral?
• How does the financial institution handle issues of guarantors,
setoff and insurance?• What do the banking regulations and exam guidelines say?

Who owns the account? Who has access to the account? What happens with powers-of-attorney and authorized signers on an
account? Can the spouse of the sole proprietor continue to access the
account? What about that last tax refund check? Is the account still
insured? Can a check be written to a funeral home? What about the
checks coming in to pay funeral expenses? Attend this webinar to find
the answers to these questions and more.
Highlights
• Probate versus non-probate transfers
• When does the will govern and when does the signature card?
• What by-passes a will? PODs, IRAs, JTWROS? • Living trusts and successor trustees
• When do we know that a customer is deceased?

• What happens to powers of attorney, authorized signers, etc.?
• How are IRAs, HSAs and UTMAs affected?
• Do sole proprietorships cease at death?
• FDIC insurance issues

Fair Credit Reporting Act Compliance – Ten Critical Issues
Thursday, October 6, 2016
9:00 AM–11:00 AM Mountain Time
WYOMING BANKERS ASSOCIATION
Program Content:
According to a study conducted by the Federal Trade Commission (FTC), 26% of credit reports examined included at least one “potentially material” error in one or more of the three credit reports from Experian, TransUnion or Equifax. Some of these errors can negatively affect a consumer’s credit score by up to 100 points. The Fair Credit Reporting Act has been in effect since 1971, but
has been amended substantially over the years, most recently by significant changes in the FACT Act. Even though this regulation is an “oldie but goodie”, there are still many issues and violations have been cited. The CFPB tracks complaints, and the “credit reporting” complaint category has increased focus by all the regulators. In addition, increased identify theft, fraud, and cyber crime have a direct
relationship to the potential for inaccurate credit reports. There are numerous compliance challenges, ranging from what you can tell one joint applicant about the other applicant's credit, to when the FCRA portion should NOT be included with the adverse action form. What should your bank or credit union be doing to reduce the compliance risk of complaints and FCRA violations? Join us for a discussion of 10 issues that should be addressed in an effective FCRA compliance program. Covered Topics:
What are the key definitions in the Fair Credit Reporting Act for “person”, “consumer” “consumer report” and “consumer reporting agency”?
What are the permissible purposes for a consumer reporting agency to furnish a consumer report?
What requirements must be followed by the USERS of consumer reports? There is increased emphasis on evaluation of “consumer harm” by regulators. Is your financial institution responding appropriately to direct disputes from consumers? What about the response to disputes and e-Oscar* inquiries from the national credit reporting agencies? (* stands for Online Solution for Complete and Accurate Reporting)
What are the responsibilities to “furnish” accurate information?
Is there a restriction on sharing credit and debit card numbers on electronic receipts?
How should “negative” credit performance information be provided?
How should adverse action/FCRA notices be given?
Credit score disclosure notices – what’s required?
Use of medical information – what are the rules?
Exam procedures for FCRA – highlights and best practices.
Who Should Attend:
Customer service representatives, branch managers, lenders, loan
operations, credit administration, compliance personnel, collectors, and anyone who pulls credit reports, processes loan applications, or responds to questions about credit reports in the lending process Presenter:

IRAs: The Basics – Plan Types and Forms
Thursday, October 20, 2016
12:30 PM–2:30 PM Mountain Time
WYOMING BANKERS ASSOCIATION
Program Content: This is part of a four-part webinar series on IRAs. To view or purchase the entire series, see the series brochure. You finally received the promotion you've been dreaming about - IRA Coordinator! Now what do you do? Were you able to get even a little bit of training before the last Guru left the bank - or are you "on your own"? Because of their extreme complexity, IRAs are a very difficult product to learn "on the job." In short order, personnel begin to dislike this account because of the feeling of uncertainty that occurs when an accountholder asks unfamiliar questions. The goal of this basic webinar is to start at the beginning of "What is an IRA?" Who can have an IRA? How much can they contribute? All areas will be discussed thoroughly, with emphasis on the responsibility of the financial institution vs. the responsibility shifting to the accountholder. Covered Topics:
Review of top terminology of IRAs
Basic Forms Required To Open, Close, Move and Maintain IRAs (have your own forms - including application, contribution and distribution forms - available during the webinar)
Qualifications, Contribution Limits and Deadlines for: o Traditional IRA and Roth IRAs o Conversion Roth (IRS codes and reporting) o SEP IRAs
Who Should Attend: New Account Representatives, Certificate of Deposit Personnel, Savings Counselors, Accountholder Service Representatives, Investment and Trust Personnel who are NEWLY involved in the opening, selling, marketing, or administration of IRAs. Also, any officer/manager who oversees the IRA department and may be responsible for answering IRA accountholders' questions or concerns, but does not actually open IRA accounts. Plus, experienced IRA personnel who want a review of the basics and forms. Presenter: Patrice M. Konarik is president of Sunwest Training Corp. founded over 20 years ago and is located in the Texas Hill Country near San Antonio, Texas. With over 30 years experience in the financial industry, Patrice has focused her expertise on the retirement and new account areas and is currently providing live training and webinars on these subjects on a nationwide basis. TRID for Construction Loans Friday, October 21, 2016
9:00 AM–11:00 AM Mountain Time
WYOMING BANKERS ASSOCIATION
Program Content: The new Integrated Disclosure rules were effective on October 3, 2015. Many lenders are still scrambling to master the details of the new disclosures. Construction loans are causing problems because of a lack of binding clarification of the requirements.
Construction loans are significantly impacted by the TRID rules. Many construction loans were exempt from the old disclosure requirements; however, these loans are clearly covered by the new rules.
The CFPB provided few details regarding completion of the Loan Estimate and the Closing Disclosures for these loans. The regulation does not contain sample forms for construction loans. The Commentary only mentions construction loans a few times and those references provide little guidance for completing the forms.
Creditors continue to report problems producing construction loan disclosures using loan origination software (LOS) products. Apparently some LOS products cannot produce construction disclosures while others produce the disclosures for some construction loan options, but not for others.
While a proposed update to the regulation has been promised by the CFPB in late summer, there is no word on whether the proposal will include clarification on construction loans. This webinar includes informal guidance provided by the CFPB in its March 2016 webinar “Know Before You Owe Mortgage Disclosure Rule – Construction Lending”.
This program is designed to fill the void created by the lack of regulatory guidance for construction loans. It explains coverage and exemption rules. It provides section-by-section guidance on completing the Loan Estimate and the Closing Disclosure for the common construction loan options. It answers the many questions you have regarding the proper disclosure of construction loans.
Covered Topics:
When and why construction loans are covered by the new integrated disclosure rules
How to complete the loan estimate and closing disclosure for:
Construction only loans
Combined construction/permanent loans (both one-close and two-close); and
Permanent financing that replaces construction financing
How to properly estimate interest on a construction loan
The impact of a construction only loan versus a lot purchase/construction loan
When to disclose "Sales Price," "Estimated Value," or "Appraised Value"
How to determine the proper "Purpose" of the loan
How to properly describe the "Product"
The proper disclosure of projected payments
How to properly disclose inspection fees
How to disclose undisbursed construction funds
Completing the "Cash to Close”, “Optional Alternative Cash to Close" and "Cash to Close" in the Borrower's Summary of the Closing Disclosure
When the AP Table is needed and how to properly complete it
How to complete the "In 5 years" disclosure for short-term construction loans
When to include the "60 days prior to consummation" disclosure; and
Much more
Who Should Attend: Professionals seeking answers regarding the proper disclosure of construction loans. This program is designed for everyone involved in the origination of construction loans, those making decisions on construction loan products, compliance staff and auditors.

Marketing & Advertising Compliance,
including UDAAP Expectations Tuesday, October 25, 2016
9:00 AM–11:00 AM Mountain Time
WYOMING BANKERS ASSOCIATION
Program Content: If you read the first CFPB enforcement action carefully, it's clear what is being targeted: sales and marketing practices. Now is a great time to learn from others' mistakes, even if you're not a big bank subject to the
Bureau's oversight. With everything happening in the financial services industry, now more
than ever it's important that your advertising and marketing efforts are effective. Moreover, regulator and examiner attention to your advertising and marketing efforts is at an all-time high. Advertising is
being looked at in different ways than before. There are new standards to observe, especially when it comes to
UDAAP (Unfair, Deceptive, or Abusive Acts or Practices). This is a seismic shift in regulatory enforcement, where practices that were perfectly acceptable in years past are now problematic. In the rush to
attract new business and keep the clients you have, compliance requirements can easily be missed or ignored.
What can you say in advertisements? What must you say? What can you not say? Many sets of rules govern these questions, and more are on the way. How about your promotional efforts - contacting prospects
and customers to let them know what you have available? As the compliance environment becomes more complex, your
marketing department must stay on top of all the rules and regulations. This session can help.
Covered Topics:
What impact does the CFPB have on advertising and
marketing, even if you're not a big bank?
New Regulatory Focus: Increased attention to unfair,
deceptive, and abusive acts and practices (UDAAP). Plus - what may be considered abusive? How can you stay clear of trouble? Don't miss the forest for the trees.
Advertising rules under Reg. Z for both mortgage loans and open-end plans from the Credit CARD Act
UDAP standards from the FTC on mortgage loans
Consumer deposit products in Truth in Savings
Rules for consumer loan products in Regulation Z
Fair lending when marketing lending products
"Equal Housing Lender" statement and the logo - when must these be used?
Advertising over the Internet and social media - different standards?
Soliciting via the phone and e-mail: the Telemarketing Sales Rule (TSR), including caller ID requirements, Junk Fax, and CAN-SPAM
Privacy implications - sharing information under Privacy regulations and FCRA
Testimonials - FTC standards
Promotions - drawings, giveaways, bonuses, etc.
Tax implications, and what not to say when talking about tax breaks
And more.
Who Should Attend: Anyone involved in developing and marketing your institution's products and services, including the marketing department,
compliance officers, auditors, business managers, sales and service staff, and anyone else whose duties involve promotion.

Treliant Risk Advisors in Washington, DC. Through his working career, as well as through his experience as a banking attorney and officer, he
has provided a variety of regulatory compliance and financial
performance services to financial institutions and other clients throughout the country. He has written extensively regarding consumer and commercial
compliance, tax, audit, and financial institution legal issues, and is a frequent contributor to and currently serves on the Editorial Advisory Board for the ABA Bank Compliance magazine. He has spoken at
scores of banking, compliance, and state bar associations, and has conducted training sessions for financial institutions across the country.

IRAs: Beyond the Basics – Rollovers and Transfers
Thursday, October 27, 2016
9:00 AM–11:00 AM Mountain Time
WYOMING BANKERS ASSOCIATION
Program Content: This is part of a four-part webinar series on IRAs. To view or purchase the entire series, see the series brochure. Everyone knows you can only do one rollover per "IRA" in a 12-month period - right? But, what's the definition of an "IRA" - An IRA account? An IRA plan? An IRA plan type? The actual verbiage on this has always been a little gray and subject to interpretation. In a landslide, mind-blowing court case, the whole rollover world has been turned upside down. Big changes and clarifications regarding rollovers became effective January 2015. As you can see below, this is a jam-packed informational Webinar. Covered Topics:
Why is it important to QUALIFY the money coming into the financial institution?
What are the three questions that should be verified?
What is the IRS definition of an IRA for rollover qualification purposes?
What happens if an IRA accountholder exceeds the once-per-12-month rule?
What are the alternatives to moving money from IRA to IRA if not a “rollover”?
Which IRA Forms are used, and how is the movement reported to the IRS?
When does the financial institution have to verify transactions with the other institution?
What’s the difference between an IRA Transfer, an IRA Rollover and a Qualified Plan Rollover?
Moving money from a Traditional to a Roth or QP to a Roth – Conversion vs. Rollover?
What is a Recharacterization between plan types?
Most importantly… How do you correctly code the above transactions to the IRS?
Who Should Attend: A "must-attend" webinar for anyone even remotely involved in IRAs, including frontline, back office, call center, investment department, and trust department personnel. She has a BS In Management Science from New York's Binghamton University. Many state banking associations and other organizations use her as their main source for training on these complicated topics. Patrice's upbeat personality and former banking experience easily encourages interaction and questions during the training sessions.

Managing in the Middle Thursday, October 27, 2016
12:30 PM–2:30 PM Mountain Time
WYOMING BANKERS ASSOCIATION
Program Content: In 2012, there were 10.8 million middle managers working in the United States. It’s a reasonable assumption that more than a third of all managers in banking are “managing in the middle": reporting to top-level managers while managing others in some capacity. This practical, real-world webinar will help middle managers navigate their way through the maze that comes with the job.
"Managing in the Middle" gives supervisors and managers the skills they need to manage work and people. They can become stronger links in the management chain. Here are some thoughts to consider about middle managers:
They know how stuff really gets done.
They understand process and procedure, who does what, and critical deadlines.
They are in the best position to help motivate the staff. They are with them all day.
They have to work stuff out with cross-functional departments and teams.
They have the power to set the tone and encourage bounce-back when things go wrong.
They don’t have to defend the mission they have to lead getting the mission done.
They need to be trained, coached, and valued for what they contribute.
Tune in and what great middle managers do differently.
Covered Topics:
Plan, organize and manage in a more productive way
Sharpen essential skills in order to elevate personal effectiveness
Coach for maximum results and minimum demotivation</span>
Build positive relationships with your team, colleagues, and senior management
Develop credibility as a leader
Empower people through meaningful, ongoing performance appraisals
Handle disciplinary problems and managing conflict
