Internally weighted check valves are loaded to 1 PSI in the direction of flow to ensure positive closure and prevent leakage. Simple, rugged construction for use on both domestic

and fireline services. Famous Hersey lever valves allow full-flow with an

extremely low loss of head. All internal parts are accessible without moving the

device from the line.

DESCRIPTION

The Hersey No. 1 is designed for installation in pipelines to prevent water that is objectionable (but not injurious to health) from backflowing into a potable water system.

The assembly consists of two Hersey lever valves, two gate valves, and four test cocks. The lever valves are the same type and construction as those used in Hersey model DC.

Double Check Valve Assembly

DESCRIPTION

The Model 2 double check valve backflow prevention assembly consists of two independent spring loaded poppet-type check valve assemblies mounted in a common body. Two gate valves and four test cocks for field testing complete the basic features. The valve assemblies are of modular design and easily removed from the top of the device for in-line servicing.

APPLICATION

For use at cross-connections when the danger of backflow does not present a health-hazard. Model 2 may be installed in a horizontal or vertical position. Vertical installation is recommended ony when the flow of water is upward.

DESCRIPTION

The BEECO Reduced Pressure Backflow Preventer operates on the principle that water will not flow from a zone of lower pressure to one of higher pressure.

The device consists of two spring-loaded check valves and a spring loaded, diaphragm actuated, differential pressure relief valve located in the zone between the check valves.

This assembly was produced from around I948 to 1978. It must be removed from the line for repair. The assembly is flanged at both ends for removal. Since special repair tools are necessary, field repair is not recommended. On all springs, tension must be relieved for repair. The assembly has an external R.V. sensing line. Model " 6 and "6U" are virtually the same - "6U" has been examined by Underwriter's Laboratories.

DESCRIPTION

The Beeco Model 6C backflow preventer is an economi- cal, easily repaired in-line, reduced pressure device. Both check valves and the relief valve are spring loaded poppet type of modular design so that the complete assembly, including valve, spring and seat, can be removed and replaced using low cost replacement kits.

All parts are made from corrosion resistant materials. The compact design places the sensing diaphragm and passage within the unit housing to eliminate the danger of malfunction due to vandalism and mechanical damage.

The Model 6C features the Aergap principle which provides the highest level of protection against backsiphonage by creating an internal air gap whenever supply pressure is reduced to atmosphere or lower.

Air Gap Drain Funnel for installation with

MODEL 6CM (2-112", 3", 4", 6", 8" & 10")

DESCRIPTION: Easily installed air gap funnel to plumb discharge from relief valve vent of 6CM reduced pressure principle device. Should plumbed drainage system become clogged, backflow will spill out through the fixed air gap between funnel and 6CM unit. Two bolts allow simple field installation to the standard cast iron relief valve outlet as furnished with thedevice. The bottom of the air gap drain funnel is threadedtoalloweasy installation of drainage pipe. The device is constructed of cast iron and is designed in accordance with the National Plumbing code for Drain Funnel Air Gaps.

FUNCTION: Provides protection of the Model 6CM from contamination due to backflow in the drain line when installed between the relief valve outlet and the plumbing drainage system. When installed to a 6CM, the air gap drain funnel will prevent contamination from cross connection between the potable water supply and the fixture that handles thedraining of the waste.

DESCRIPTION

The Model 10 reduced pressure principle backflow preventer consists of a spring-loaded, diaphragm assisted main check valve and a spring-loaded second check valve. Located in the zone between the valves is a spring-loaded, diaphragm actuated, differential pressure relief valve. This unit differs from the rest of the Beeco line in that it's first valve is diaphragm assisted instead of a poppet check.

DESCRIPTION

The Model 12 reduced pressure principle backflow preventer was produced from 1960-1 975. It consists of two spring-loaded check valves and a spring-loaded, diaphragm actuated, differential pressure relief valve located in the zone between the two check valves.

This model is designed for use in small lines where flow requirements are moderate, with less than 125 PSI. Model 12 operates on the principle that water will not flow from low pressure to high pressure zones.

DESCRIPTION

The BEECO Model 14 Reduced Pressure Backflow Pre- venter operates on the principle that water will not flow from a zone of lower pressure to one of higher pressure. The device consists of two spring-loaded check valves and a spring loaded, diaphragm actuated, differential pressure relief valve located in the zone between the check valves. The pressure relief valve is located below the first check for maximum protection against backflow.

The relief valve opens whenever pressure upstream from the first check drops below 2 PSI greater than the pressure in the zone between the two checks. The relief valve remains open until a positive pressure differential of 2 PSI is re-established. If pressure upstream of the first check drops to atmosphere or lower, pressure in the zone between the two checks shall reduce to create an air gap greater than the diameter of the inlet pipe.

DIMENSIONS

This assembly was produced from around I968 to 1975. It must be removed from the line for repair.

DESCRIPTION

HERSEY Model DC Detector Check Valves consist of a main check valve with a reinforced elastomeric seat, operated by a weighted lever (available with optional trim kit and bypass meter). The Model DC prevents water from re-entering the potable water system, while detecting leaks in the fire sprinkler system or unauthorized use of sprinkler system water.

The optional bypass is comprised of a shutoff valve, swing check, and a Hersey Model MVR magnetic turbine meter, or a Hersey Model 4001500 IIS positive displacement meter. OPERATION

While the mainline valve is closed, any low flow will be directed through the bypass and measured by the bypass meter. Withpressure loss of 2.0 psi, the mainline valve opens, allowing unrestricted flow. The mainline valve and check on the bypass prevent loss of water from the system. Closing the inlet shutoff valve permits in-line servicing of the bypass meter while the mainline remains in service.

OPERATION

In normai operation, the independent spring loaded check valves remain closed until there is a demand for water. Low flow is routed through the bypass, and volume recorded on a Hersey positive displacement or turbine meter. Higher flows will cause both check valves in the mainline to open. With the mainline open, water flows through the bypass below capacity. If pressure increases downstream of the unit, the two check valves in the main unit and the double check valves in the bypass close to prevent backflow. If the second check is prevented from closing tightly, the first valve still protects from backflow.

APPLICATION DESCRIPTION

With the features of a detector check and a double check valve assembly, Model DDC II controls cross-connections that do not present a health hazard, while also detecting leakage or unauthorized water user in fire or sprinkler systems.

The mainline consists of two independent spring loaded poppet-type check valve assemblies mounted in a common body. Two gate valves and four test cocks for field testing complete the basic features. The valve assemblies are of modular design and easily removed from the top of the device for in-line servicing. The bypass consists of an approved double check valve assembly, shutoff valves, testcocks, and a meter with low flow accuracy.

The Hersey Beeco F-72 Double Check Backflow Pre- ventor was produced from I968 to 1975. It was designed for the control of cross-connections between potable water systems and supplies that are objectionable (but not hazardous to health). The device consists of two Hersey Beeco cam operated spring assisted check valves, four test cocks and two gate valves.

DESCRIPTION

The Model FDC double check valve backflow prevention assembly consists of two independent spring loaded poppet-type check valve assemblies mounted in a common body. Two isolation valves and four test cocks for field testing complete the basic features. The valve assemblies are of modular design and easily removed from the top of the device for in-line servicing.

For use at cross-connections when the danger of backflow does not present a health-hazard. Model FDC may be installed in a horizontal or vertical position. Vertical installation is recommended ony when the flow of water is upward.

OPERATION

In normai operation, the independent spring loaded check valves remain closed until there is a demand for water. Each of the two check valves in series is designed to open at 1 PSI pressure differential in th direction of flow. In the event pressure increases RPq downstream of the unit, tending to reverse direction Hersey flow, both check valves are closed to prevent backfl craneline

If the second check is prevented from closing tightly, the first valve still protects from backflow.

Hersey's Beeco Model FRP Reduced Pressure Backflow Preventer provides maximum protection against backflow due to backpressure and backsiphonage. Contami- nation of drinking water supplies is prevented by maintaining a zone of reduced pressure that is less than supply pressure.

DESCRIPTION

The Model HDC double check valve assembly is an eco- nomical , easily repaired in-line backflow device. It is designed for control of cross-connections between potable water systems and supplies that are objectionable (but not hazardous to health). The device consists of two independent spring loaded poppet-type check valve assemblies mounted in a common body. Two optional shut-off valves and four test cocks for field testing complete the basic features. The complete check valve assemblies include valve, spring and disc can be removed and replaced quickly using low cost replacement kits, without removing the device from the line.

DESCRIPTION

Model VC Double Check Valve Assembly is approved for use with pressure vacuum breakers for 3" & 4" services. The assembly includes 2 spring loaded check valves, 2 gate valves, and 4 test cocks. Provisions are made for installing a Pressure-Type Vacuum Breaker Head. If specified, an SMR No. P-714 Pressure-Type Head can be factory-installed.
