Upcoming Events
Did you know that the Corona-Norco Family YMCA is helping children and families
weather the economic storm? Every day we work side-by-side with our neighbors to make sure that everyone, regardless of age, income or background, has the opportunity
to learn, grow and thrive. The Y now operates eight program sites with a continuum of care for children in the Corona-Norco and Jurupa Valley Unified School Districts ages 18
months to high school. We are always looking for support from our community. If you would like more information of how you can help, please contact Lorena Gomez (951)
736-1415 or [email protected] The Corona-Norco Family YMCA is a 501(c) (3) charitable organization classified by the Internal Revenue Service.
Thank you for your continued support of YOUR YMCA!

Main Y Calvert - To continue our summer themed activities this upcoming week we will
be focusing on the Circus. The children will be learning about the Circus though
book viewing, and craft making. To begin the week the children will be finger
painting what they imagine the Circus is like. Another, activity our children will be
working on is a ring tossing game; this activity will be a group activity because we will be playing it
once everyone makes their own ring to toss out of a paper plate and other mediums of their choice.
Children will also have the option of making yummy pretend cotton candy and popcorn too. The
children will definitely have fun learning about the colorful and fun that goes on at the Circus; through
painting, cotton balls, markers, puffy paint, pomp poems and lots of colorful stickers and foam
shapes. Children will be exposed to the kinds of animals and games that go on at the circus through
music, puzzles, and story time during our circle time. To conclude our week we will be painting a
circus tent that will be part of our bulletin board to put on display all of the week’s work. Thank you
Home Depot for supporting the YMCA. Calvert and the YMCA are so excited to begin enjoying the
remodel soccer field. Looking forward to an amazing week with the children and families.
State Preschool - The staff, parents and the children from Main “Y” would love to thank Home Depot
for fixing our soccer field. This has been a generous act of service that has improved our cam-
pus. This coming week our state full day will be exploring with our teddy bears. We will be having a
teddy bear picnic on Friday, so the children can share their lunch with their teddy bears. We cannot
wait for fun adventure.
School Age - The summer is coming to a close but if has been a lot of fun. I would like to thank the
families and students who attended this year’s camp. A big thanks Home Depot for making our Soccer
Field beautiful and awesome, along with the other YMCA Sites who attended and made the grand
opening event a success. In the school age classroom we will be ending our Summer Camp with a
“Fiesta and Water Day activity’s through the week.

loved her and we will all miss her. We wish her luck in her future endeavors. Last
week our theme was "What do you do on summer vacation." The children made
their own lemonade. They squeezed the lemons add the water, and
added sweetener to it. It was very good. The children also blew bubbles through a
straw.
Harada THEME: ANTI BULLYING
YMCA Birthdays
Last week we worked with activities about the ocean, the kids and staff
enjoyed and had a lot of fun. We all know how difficult could be when any child or some one is suffering from bullying, at school, child care,
community center, etc.
This week, the children and staff will discuss this topic to help each other and learn how to
prevent bullying and how not to be involved and keep away from children that harm others. We will be talking all week about how important is to follow parents positive guidance and learn
how to respect friends and adults, take responsibility to act safely, develop positive peer relationships, intervene to stop unsafe behavior and learn personal safety skills. The children will make a chart to draw and outline a full body person and write unkind, rude, and
disrespectful statements, then we will discuss the meaning of the drawing to identify positive or negative comments ,then after the children realize and comprehend the scenario, they will
change negative comments to a positive comments. Also they will make NO Bullying signs, and
Friday we will have share day.
