We hope that you all had a good Christmas break and we would like to wish everyone a very happy and prosperous New Year! We are excited by what 2018 will bring for Southern Timber as our office and yard development continues but also by opportunities that will unfold in the uncertain trading conditions that look set to continue from last year. The beginning of the year tends to be a time spent planning and designing for the months ahead. The below images should provide plenty of inspiration. These are from our customer, Sam Tabiner, who has combined a Parallel Chamfered Cedar Cladding, Coppered Oak Millboard composite decking and Enigma Namgrass to great effect on this recently completed new build.

Our Enhanced Grain Millboard collection is moulded from selected smooth timber that provides a stylish dignity, with hand colouring recreating the subtle nuances that only natural wood can give. The Weathered Oak collection is moulded from 100-year-old reclaimed oak timber, and hand-coloured with authentic tones. Providing an instant worn look, it retains its natural beauty for decades. Both boards are durable, offer an almost maintenance-free surface and have exceptional anti-slip properties.

Namgrass Artificial Grass is becoming more and more popular, from pet owners who suffer from muddy paw prints in their home, to those who want to enjoy their garden all year round, Namgrass artificial grass is the solution for them. It isn’t just for gardens either; it can be used in playgrounds, roof terraces, commercial properties and public spaces. Basically, anywhere that requires a beautiful and usable surface in all weather!

Southern Timber supplies cedar cladding machined from grade No. 2 Clear & Better Western Red Cedar with 15% No.4’s. The No.2 grade means that only minor imperfections are allowed, allowing 15% of grade 4’s keeps the cost down and adds a little more character to the product. Cedar boards are popular for their stability; they are sap and resin free with a high tannin content making them naturally insect and rot resistant. We keep a number of profiles in stock and can get others machined to special order like the Parallel Chamfered pictured here. We have had great feedback on the Actis Hybris product we introduced in December. Hybris is a reflective insulation product based on a honeycomb structure. Hybris is available in 1145mm wide panels and in a range of thicknesses from 50mm to 205mm. Its high thermal performance is provided by a special structure composed of a large number of low emissivity cavities, protected from dust and excessive air movement. Moreover, the low emissivity external films provide additional thermal resistance, when associated with air cavities. It is also very quick and easy to install with virtually no mess.

December also saw the launch of our new website, which now makes many of our products available to purchase on-line as well as being easier to navigate and with up to date information and advice.
