FREEDOM

COMMUNION

OBJECT LESSON

THE RAMBUTAN (HAIRY LYCHEE)

The rambutan looks UGLY… just like us when we were not yet saved.

Let us all together open the rambutan, remove the ugly covering.

Through Jesus Christ, our old ugly sin-bounded self is forever removed!

We now see the white, blemish-free and sweet fruit. And because we are saved, we are like this white, blemish-free and sweet rambutan. And we can never have that sinful nature again, God removed it for good through JESUS!

2ND SUNDAY: AUGUST 8, 2010

LESSON OVERVIEW

LESSON GOAL: I will realize that I must take care of my freedom. LESSON OVERVIEW: Children will know that True Christianity boldly

proclaims that everything is by grace and nothing is of works. The world will always try to tell children to do things to gain the favor and blessings of God. The world will always try to lead children to believe that they should do great works and efforts by themselves to earn their freedom. God’s grace is made available to everyone! Freedom is as its fullest when the children have Jesus Christ in their lives. Jesus is the way, the truth and the life. Children must be empowered not to let anybody steal their freedom.

MEMORY VERSE

GALATIANS 5:1

“Christ has made us really free. So, stay free! Do not let yourselves be made slaves again”

GAME

ARE YOU READY TO PLAY

DR. QUACK-QUACK???

Choose a Dr.Quack-Quack before starting the game through the boat is sinking.

After choosing, let Dr.Quack2 hide while the kids form in a circle and tie themselves in a knot.

Call Dr.Quack2, yell “Dr.Quack2 come and help us”

After Dr.Quack unties the knot and returns everyone in a circle, he will break the circular chain and capture the kids. Whoever He will capture will bee the next Dr. Quack2.

SYNTHESIS

God is not playing games with us:If GOD says we are free… WE ARE

REALLY FREE!!! Unlike Dr.Quack-Quack, He frees you then

captures you! God is not like that! He MEANS what he says because He loves

you and me! And that will never change! And the complete expression of GOD’S

LOVE for us is WHEN HE SENT HIS SON JESUS CHRIST to die for us!

LESSON 1

WE ARE TALKING ABOUT BEING FREE LAST WEEK…

WHAT IS A SLAVE?

Characteristics of a Slave: Reacts to problems. Lacks hope or faith that

anything will change. Accepts their current situation

and level of living. Allows situations to control

them. Allows others to tell them who

they are and what they can do.

Obeys in action – but heart is not in it.

Lacks vision. Think about themselves and

their needs – selfish. Live in bondage.

Is this the picture of freedom in Christ?

LESSON 1: JESUS MADE ME FREE

Jesus paid in full!!! Jesus died so that you and I can be free!!

FREE FROM WHAT?

Freedom from sickness and diseaseFreedom from povertyFreedom from deathFreedom from rejectionFreedom from lack

This freedom does not expire. This freedom speaks of forever! But you have to take care of it!!!

OBJECT LESSON: CAGE

Just like the butterfly, birds and bees… let us live freely!

Do you know that no two finger prints are alike! You are the only person on the face of this planet that has a finger print like yours! You are a unique individual. The Bible says, "For (God) created my inmost being; (he) knit me together in my mother's womb. I praise (him) because I am fearfully and wonderfully made; (his) works are wonderful..."

LESSON 2

LESSON 2: PRAYING GUARDS MY FREEDOM

When can think of many ways to protect ourselves from the harm that this world brings.

EXAMPLE:

RAINCOAT

THE MOST POWERFUL WAY TO GUARD YOUR FREEDOM IS BY PRAYING.

PRAYING ushers us inside the heart of God where there is true comfort

PRAYING silences noise of the world

Luke 18:1 Then Jesus told his disciples a parable to show them that they should always pray and not give up.

ARE YOU READY FOR A BIBLE STORY?

THE POWER OF PRAYER AND PRAISE

Featuring the art of Henry MartinStory based on Acts 16

Adapted by Charles Kirkpatrick

One time, Paul and Silas went on a mission trip to Philippi.

As they traveled the countryside, they were met by a slave girl who had a spirit by which she could predict the future. She made a lot of money for her owners by fortune telling.

She followed Paul and Silas shouting, “These men are the servants of the most high God and are telling the way to be saved!”

She kept this up for many days until finally Paul become so troubled by it that he turned around and said to the spirit, “In the name of Jesus Christ, I command you to come out of her!”

At that very moment thespirit left her.

When the owners of the girl realized that their hope of making money was gone, they seized Paul and Silas

and took them to face the authorities.

They went before the magistrates and said, "The whole city is in an uproar because of these Jews! They are teaching things that are against Roman customs."

The crowd joined in the attack against Paul and Silasand the city officials ordered them to be stripped,

beaten, and thrown into prison.

The Jailer was commanded to make sure that they did not escape, so he clamped their feet in stocks.

After making sure that Pauland Silas could not escape, the jailer sat down to rest.

About midnight, Paul and Silas began to pray and sing. Suddenly, there was a great earthquake and the prison doors

opened.

He took out his swordand was about to killhimself when he heardPaul shout, “Don’t harmyourself! We are all here!”

The jailer woke up to see the doors wide open and he was terrified because he thought that all the prisoners had escaped.

Trembling with fear, the jailer called for the lights and ran to the dungeon and fell down before Paul and Silas.

“Sirs, what must I doto be saved?” he asked.

"Believe on the Lord Jesus and you will be saved, along with your entire household, “ they answered. Then they shared

the Word of the Lord with all who lived in his household.

Then the jailer and all in his household were baptized.

The jailer was filledwith great joy becausehe had come to believe in God – he and his whole family!

The next morning the city officials sent the police to tell the jailer to release Paul and Silas. So the jailer told them, "You are free to leave. Go in peace."

Today, people are still asking the question,“are prayers and singing praises powerful???”

The answer is a resounding YES!

“PRAYING AND SINGING PRAISES HELPS US STAY FREE!”
