Hello Year 3!
We are all missing you lots and hope you had a restful half term in the sunshine.
This week in English, we are looking at Mexican food. The teachers thought we should all have a go at making a Mexican recipe for you to see! Which one do you think looks most delicious? Which one would you most like to make?
If you fancy creating your own dish, there are lots of recipe ideas on the website below. We’d love to see a photo of any Mexican dishes you make!

This week, you are going to write an advert for your very own Mexican restaurant! In order to create an authentic advert, we need to research the different types of food and drink they might serve in a Mexican restaurant.
What do you already know about Mexican food? Have you tasted any before?
Monday – English
L.O. To research and record facts.
5
Your task is to research the different types of food in Mexico for your restaurant.
When we research, it is important to skim and scan for relevant information and then write the facts in our own words.
Have a look at the example below. What key information would you pick out?
Rather than feasting on cereals and toast, many
Mexican families start their days with very
different cuisine. Breakfast tacos made from corn
tortillas, beans, eggs and cheese are common.
Huevos rancheros -- fried eggs served on a corn
tortilla, covered in salsa and often topped with hot
sauce -- are a Mexican favourite. Flan is a popular
dessert in Mexico. Made from eggs, milk, sugar
and vanilla, flan is baked in an oven and served
hot. The sugar in the recipe is cooked into a
caramel consistency and used to top the
individual servings of flan.
This table can help you organise your notes!
