Year 3 - Home Learning Activity Grid Please use the activity grid to engage your child with home learning. There are also a number of website suggestions on our school website, under ‘Home Learning’ to use alongside this grid. Please find additional materials to support this grid on the pages below: English Activities TASK 1 Non-fiction: Attached is a comprehension task about the rainforest. Read through the text and answer the questions about it. Challenge: Once you have completed the comprehension task, create a poster detailing all of your knowledge about the rainforest. Or, if you like, create a short video clip sharing some facts about the rainforest. Do send in a picture of your posters or video clips to: [email protected] TASK 2 Dictionary work: Create your own dictionary with definitions to the rainforest words attached. Select up to 10 words to write the definition on. To do this, you can use a dictionary that you have at home, or the following online dictionary: https://dictionary.cambridge.org/ Challenge: Using the template attached, create your own word search with the rainforest words within it for someone in your house to solve. TASK 3 Writing: Look at the rainforest scene attached below. Write an introduction to the scene. Remember to use sense description. Think about what you may be able to see, hear, smell and touch. Challenge: Complete your written piece by writing a story about the scene. Think about what adventures the animals may go on and what new characters may appear. Look at the attached sheet to work out how many kilometres there are between Manchester and the Amazon rainforest! Please use the activity grid to engage your child with home learning. There are also a number of website suggestions on our school

English Activities

TASK 1 Non-fiction: Attached is a comprehension task about the rainforest. Read through the text and answer the questions about it.
