Basic Information Regarding the Sacraments

Holy Eucharist We truly believe in the Body and Blood of Christ that was broken and shed for us! We ask that you be in good standings with the Lord as you join us for every Mass for Holy Eucharist. All are Welcome to

His table!! “Jesus said to them, ‘I tell you the truth, unless you eat the flesh of the Son of Man and drink His blood, you have no life in you. Whoever eats my flesh and drinks my blood has eternal life … For my flesh is real food and my blood is real drink. Whoever eats my flesh and drinks my blood

remains in me, and I in him … so the one who feeds on me will live because of me.’”

“Therefore the Lord will give them up, until the time when she who is

to give birth has borne.” ~Micah 5:2is

Christmas 2012 may be even greater than the amazing Christmases of the past. This Christmas may be the

Christmas of Christmases. To prepare for the greatest Christmas, we need all the help we can get. Before

Christ’s Christmas coming, we need Elijah to turn the hearts of fathers to their children and of children to

their fathers (Mal 3:24). We also need to hear the prophetic message of John the Baptizer and be immersed

in his baptism of repentance (Lk 3:3). Most of all, we need Mary, the ultimate expert on Christmas.

As the mother of God and the Immaculate Conception, Mary is the expert on the

meaning of conception. (This is exceptionally important today when so many ba-

bies are killed shortly after conception through abortion.) As the pregnant Lady

of Guadalupe, Mary is also the expert on pregnancy. As the mother who gave

birth to Jesus in the stable, she is the expert on birth. As the virgin spouse of the

Holy Spirit, she will minister to us the Holy Spirit of Christmas when she visits us

this Christmas (see Lk 1:39-41).

“Mary” Christmas! May we love Jesus as Mary does. When we do, we will have

the Christmas of Christmases.

Knock! Knock!

(Whose there?)

Mary

(Mary Who?)

Mary Christmas

That’s my gift to you. A bad joke so that the jokes you are going to get from those Christmas bon bon cracker things

won’t seem quite so bad.

The classic nativity scene was of course amongst the cards but the three kings seemed to be the card of choice amongst

the cards with a religious orientation. This ingenious card managed to capture both.

The scenery shots were also a popular choice, of course the scenery was always snow covered houses and other scenes

foreign to my Christmas experience.

Of course there were the Santa cards. This is a particularly jolly Santa dancing and playing his flute with birds fluttering

about.

Then there’s the icon kind of cards the Christmas tree and the wreath. But these one’s are my favorite's. “Season’s

Greetings”. Don’t you just love it when someone sends you a card that says, “Hi, its summer”. And here’s another that

says hi its summer. Wait a sec these caroler’s all have winter clothes on. A confused season’s greetings.

The other thing that this card reminds us of at Christmas is the singing of Christmas songs. While I have heard lots of

Christmas songs sung this year there is one that I haven’t heard. Well there are probably lots but for the purposes of this

sermon we’ll say one. And that song is the twelve days of Christmas.

At first glance this song doesn’t seem to have much to do with Christianity but this was intentional. From 1558 to 1829

Roman Catholic’s in England were not able to practice their faith openly so they had to find other ways to pass on their

beliefs. The song “The Twelve Days of Christmas” is one example of how they did it.

The last time through the song we sing: “On the twelfth day of Christmas my true love gave to me...” Can anyone guess

who the true love might be. God.... God is our one true and perfect love.

What was the Twelfth gift from the true love? “Twelve drummers drumming”. The twelve drummers drumming were

the twelve points of the Apostles’ Creed. I won’t read it but it is a statement of the Christian faith. It tells us about who

the Father is...who Jesus is and who the Holy Spirit is.

What was the Eleventh gift from the true love? Eleven pipers piping. The “eleven pipers piping” were the eleven

‘faithful’ disciples. I love this Bible over here. It has pictures. You have the eleven disciples all looking nice and trust-

worthy and then you have Judas looking all weedy and evil. Classic.

See next week for the rest of it...

Please pray...for the ill of our Parish, and the

petitions written in our Book of Intentions.

every purpose under Heaven.”

“Alleluia! Christ our Savior is born. Praise You, Jesus! We give our lives to You. Alleluia!

The "Cards of the Deck" is a social club that we are

forming right now by

taken person’s informa-

tion so we can plan a

date for this group to

meet. Anyone who

is 50 years old or

older is welcome to

join us. We play bingo,

cards, games, and enjoy

each others’ company.

Our plan for this group

is to meet with our first

meeting as a business

meeting followed by bingo and then cards.

Then the second meeting we celebrate the birthdays

of our members during that month and then play

cards and socialize. Then the third meeting we have

a potluck where all the members bring a dish. After

the potluck we play cards and socialize. The fourth

meeting will be a Mass and offer any prayers and

t h e n p l a y g a m e s .

When there are five weeks in a month the Mass and

prayers are scheduled for that day rather than the

fourth Thursday. If you are seeking companionship

and want to meet new people, Please email the Par-

ish Office if you would like to be added to the list

and be informed of all the dates and when this Min-

istry will start.

Christmas Prayer Almighty God,

born a tiny baby

in Bethlehem,

you trusted

Mary and Joseph

to make you a safe and

loving home.

May we likewise trust in you

for every good thing.

You embraced our humanity in order

to give us a share of your divine life.

May we now acknowledge you as our

Creator and accept the gift of

your life within us.

In Jesus, you gave us hope

of a life without end.

May we give you praise, glory,

and thanksgiving in this Christmas

season and throughout the New Year.

Amen

We gather to understand our life and where God is calling us! Am I meant to be

a part of St. Maximilian Kolbe? Will this help me in my life, how can I share

about my faith with others?, family? Then this group will help you answer many

of those questions! If your unhappy with the parish you are with or unsure where

God wants you in His plan, please call or email us and allow us to help you.

Christmas Prayer

for the Safety of Our Military

Almighty and eternal God,

those who take refuge in you will be

glad and forever will shout for joy.

Please protect our military as they

discharge their duties.

Protect them with the shield of your

Strength and keep them safe

From all evil and harm.

May the power of your love enable

Them to return home in safety,

That with all who love them,

They may ever praise you

For your loving care.

We ask this through Christ Our Lord.

Amen
