It has been a great pleasure to lead Yi Guwahati Chapter. I am very happy to say that my journey has been very exhilarating and full of memorable experiences. I had the opportunity of interacting with

host of people from diverse fields and this was truly an enriching ex-perience. The chapter had a very active year with an array of activities and learning session planned throughout the year and with humility and pride I pass on my baton to the incoming Chair.

Guwahati Chapter worked on enhancing membership engagement by organizing several programmes and learning sessions throughout the year starting with the Bring a Buddy Campaign and Zumba Work-shop for member engagement.

In its endeavour to project Guwahati as a world class city Young Indians Guwahati Chapter in association with Confederation of Indian Industry supported by Guwahati Municipal Corporation organized the Clean Guwahati Contest 2015 amongst the 31 NGOs entrusted by the GMC to carry out cleanliness work in different wards of Guwahati. Through this Project we were able to be part of the National Volun-teering week this year with the theme “Swachh Bharat Abhiyaan” and reach to a huge population with a larger impact.

This year team Guwahati had the opportunity to host a session with Mr. Sam Cawthorn, Speaker, Author, Philanthropist and an expert in resilience and turnarounds from Australia with theme ‘’Bounce For-ward with Sam Cawthon’’

It was my privilege to be a part of various initiatives such as Global Entrepreneurship Week and organize the Road to Ideas Contest in the Chapter where the winner has been offered a seed capital of Rs. 1 lakh and free 1 year incubation space and start up support to start his venture.

Young Indians Guwahati Chapter opened 2 Yi Yuva Chaupals with Asian Institute of Management & Technology and Indian Institute of Information Technology Guwahati and engaged students in various Yuva and Learning activities.

On the learning front apart from having regular learning session we had interactive sessions with Ms. Bhairavi Jani, Director, SCA Group of Companies, Mr. Vishwas Mudagal, CEO & Co-Founder of GoodWorkLabs, Mrs. Rashmi Khosla, Chairperson Prerana, IASOWA, Mr. Shaurya Veer Himatsingka , National Vice Chair Young Indians & Deputy Managing Director India Carbon Limited and also conducted Industrial visit to DY365 production House and Learning Mission to SRD Nutrients.

On the International front It was my privilege to be a part of the G- 20 delegation to Australia this year. And Nationally as well Yi guwa-hati Chapter showed maximum number of participation in all National Summits held throughout the year .

I wish the incoming leadership to take forward the Yi forum to newer heights.

It is a pleasure and privilege to be a part of this Young progressive India. For me Yi is not just an organization where one can de-

vote one’s time and effort and work towards betterment of the society but instead I be-lieve that Yi has the potential to bring about impactful changes in the overall develop-ment of the nation.

I believe that the dream of a developed nation can only be delivered by the youth.Youth population is the strength and plays a vital role in the developmental process in any country. Keeping this in mind Yi Guwahati Chapter intends to create a platform for the youth where they can contribute towards re-alizing the dream of a developed nation.

We will carry out a series of initiatives aimed at encouraging and empowering young minds by awareness, advocacy and ac-tion. The chapter remains committed to the long-term goal of setting Yi as a benchmark for the youth community in the region.

The journey so far has been extremely satisfying with diverse experiences unique challenges and success and as Yi Guwahati Chapter moves forward there are many challenges to overcome and l reaffirm Yi’s commitment toward nation building and in-clusive development, promoting the attitude of “We Can, We Will’. I assure you as always we will be committed to work with passion, dedication and devotion.

Young Indians (Yi) is an integral part of the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII), a non-government, not-for-profit, industry led and industry managed organisation playing a proactive role in India’s de-velopment process. Yi was formed in the year 2002 with an objective of creating a platform for young

Indians to realise the dream of a developed nation. It has around 1800 direct members in 36 chapters in 25 states across India and engages around 10500 students through chaupals, under the brand ‘Yuva’. The Yi membership includes young progressive Indians between the age group of 21 & 40 and comprises entre-preneurs, professionals and achievers from different walks of life. “To become the Voice of Young Indians Globally” being the vision of Yi, it provides a platform for young Indians to participate in and contribute by becoming an integral part of the Indian growth story.

Yi’s work is divided primarily into three groups; “Youth Leadership”, “Nation Building” and “International Engagements”.

Under youth leadership, Yi works effectively for promoting leadership skills for its members through the learning programs and missions to companies of global excellence in India and abroad; the development and engagement of students through its 109 Chaupal platforms that has 10500 students; Yi’s regional and national summits on themes related to times and role of youth and its engagement with the governments at the state and national level gives an opportunity for the members to become effective leaders with a vi-sion into the future. Entrepreneurship and Innovation, as one vertical adds to Yi’s work under the vertical of youth leadership. Yi plays a significant role during the ‘Global Entrepreneurship Week’ as one of the main partners for India.

Under Nation Building, Yi engages its members under the board categories of education, environment, healthcare, employability, arts (sports & culture) and rural initiatives contributing positively to its surround-ing eco system and the nation. The depth of Yi’s work in nation building is vast and continues to get better by each passing years. Yi has built various brans across the country under this vertical like: The Coimbatore Vizha, Jaipur by Nite, Horn Not Ok Please, Environment Quiz, Young Indians Premier League, Project Komal and Clean Guwahati Project to name a few. The commitment of members to this vertical is quiet clearly vis-ible in the size of impact and the quantum of innovation that is brought out each year and in the sustenance of its activities and initiatives that add value.

Under “International Engagements”, Yi is one of the proud founders of the G20 Young Entrepreneurs’ Alliance which is a collective of leading entrepreneurially-minded organizations representing the G20 coun-tries who seek to promote youth entrepreneurship as a powerful driver of economic renewal, job creation, innovation and social and is one of the founders of the Commonwealth Asia Alliance of Young Entrepre-neurs (CAAYE) which is a network of young entrepreneurs from the Commonwealth Asia region and the organizations that support them. Yi has organized learning missions to many countries around the world to understand and learn from the best practices and cultures. It has also worked with the Planning Commis-sion of India in conducting consultation workshops across its chapters for accumulating a youth perspective to be included in the 12th Five Year Plan and with the Ministry of External Affairs, Government of India to facilitate missions of visiting delegations of young entrepreneurs to India from around the world. Yi has also hosted many incoming youth delegations from around the world in various parts of the country. With twelve years of glorious past and decades ahead that promise nothing short, Yi intends to become a larger move-ment of young people and promote the attitude of “We Can, We Will”.
