Hope’s Heroes —Events that Make a DifferenceMine is Uglier than Yours! UnitedHealth Networks (UHN) Ugly Sweater Contest Gets Rave Reviews The inaugural UHN Ugly Sweater Contest was a huge success! UHN regional leaders were brave enough to share their worst seasonal fashion gaffs – each took a picture sporting their ugliest holiday sweater and encouraged coworkers to cast their vote online. The contest ran Nov. 26 through Dec. 14, and each vote equaled a donation to UHCCF. Thank you to all of the UHN regional leaders for being such good sports. Congratulations to Vice President of Provider Services, UHN West, Kristina Barri, and the West Region for raising the most money… and earning bragging rights for the year! Overall, the program raised more than $16,500 for UHCCF grants.

Top: DescriptionMiddle: DescriptionBelow: Description

Since 2007, UHCCF has awarded 18,858 grants, valued at more than

$45.5 million to children and families nationwide.

Last year was an incredible year. It primed us well for even more

success in 2019. UHCCF is launching several new programs and

events including many new marathons and walks, a partnership with

Topgolf, a thoughtful Planned Giving Program, and adding many

new options to the Delivering Grins program. These opportunities

tie together well with the popular golf classics and Hope Rides

biking events.

More dollars raised last year meant we were able to help more

children than ever before. It pushed us closer to hitting our overall

goal of awarding the 20,000th grant in 2020. To date, we are only

1,450 grants away! We have no doubt that we will reach and surpass

that milestone very soon. Thank you for your continued support of

the UHCCF grant program, which is truly makes a huge difference

in the lives of so many!

Visit our website to apply for a medical grant, participate at one of

our events, volunteer, create your own program to support UHCCF,

or find more information.

Sincerely,

Matt Peterson

UHCCF President

A Minute with MattDear Friends,

Now that we are almost mid-way through the year, I cannot help but reflect on some of the recent accomplishments of the UnitedHealthcare Children’s Foundation (UHCCF). Here are some highlights:

• So far in 2017, we have awarded 870 grants worth $1.5M! Since 2007, UHCCF has awarded 13,627 grants totaling over $36.9M.

• Our fourth book in the award winning Oliver & Hope™ series, released in February, combines messages of kindness and generosity with creative storytelling. These books raise funds that help families pay for children’s medical costs. “Oliver & Hope’s Good Deeds Day” can be purchased at uhccf.org/shop.

• Fundraisers so far this year include century rides, golf events and wine tastings. Be sure to check out the events calendar at uhccf.org/events/events-calendar/ to see if there is an event coming to your area.

And, as always, I’m excited to introduce you to four UHCCF grant recipients in this issue.

If you have suggestions, comments or ideas that you would like to share with us, please visit uhccf.org/contact-us.

Sincerely,Matt PetersonUHCCF President
