Your boss walks into your office at 11.00am with a pile of CVs. “We got a good response to the advertisement; sixty applications. Could you have a look at them today please?” You have three other important pieces of work to complete before you pick up your children from school, so you have three hours in which to review sixty CVs. That’s twenty CVs each hour, or three minutes for each CV. To get a taste of the employer’s experience, assess the five CVs, using Enterprise Rent-a-Car selection criteria. Spend no more than three minutes on each CV, write comments on selection grid, and annotate the CVs as you become progressively less interested in the task and less patient with the candidates and their paperwork. Which one of these five candidates would you invite to interview? Why?
