Part 1: The ATV CD-ROM portion ofthe class must be done as a self-study unit at home.     Safe Sitter (Ages 11-13)The Safe Sitter program includes general information aboutbabysitting as a business, child care techniques, behaviormanagement, safety concerns, prevention techniques, first aidinformation, and procedures for rescue of an obstructed air-way. This curriculum is a competency-based, highly structured,interactive curriculum taught by Registered Nurses who aretrained Safe Sitter instructors from the Mayo Clinic Depart-ment of Emergency Medicine. The Mayo Clinic is an author-ized Safe Sitter training site. Class fee includes a Safe Sittermanual, Safe Sitter back pack, flashlight, and other hand-outs. Bring a sack lunch.     Snowmobile Safety (Ages 11-15)Learn the principles of safe snowmobiling. Class is taught byDNR Safety Instructors. Upon completion, each student will becertified to operate a snowmobile in Minnesota.     Middle School Sports are designed for maximumparticipation. Students with all levels of experienceare encouraged to attend. Students must pre-registerin order to participate. Tuition assistance is availableto qualifying students. Call Community Education at328-4053 for more information.

    Practices: 2:45-4:30 PM at home middle school un-less otherwise specified. No practices or games onnon-school days or earlyrelease days. A detailed schedule will be distributedto students by the coaches.

    How to Register

    Registration InformationRegistration begins upon receipt of this brochure. Space is limited and classes fill quickly; weencourage prompt registration. Additional times may be set up if classes fill; this determina-tion is usually made two weeks in advance. Please call our office if you have questions onopenings at 328-4000.

    ConfirmationCommunity Education does not send out confirmations. Please mark your calendars.You will only be notified if a class is changed or cancelled.

    Class Cancellation Policy Prior to Start DateClass cancellation must be made a minimum of one week prior to the class starting date for afull cash refund (unless otherwise noted in the description).

    If you cancel with less than a week notice, prior to the first class, you will be issued a Commu-nity Education credit on account, minus $5 processing fee and any costs incurred (including sup-plies, food, and salaries). In the event a Community Education class must be cancelled due toinclement weather or other unavoidable circumstances, every effort will be made to reschedule.However, there may be instances when it will not be possible to reschedule the class or make arestitution of funds.

    Class Withdrawal Policy After Start DateYou may withdraw from classes of three sessions or more after attending the first session. Youmust notify the Enrichment Office, 328-4000, of your intent to withdraw prior to the secondclass. You will be issued a prorated cash/credit refund minus a $5 processing fee and any costsincurred.

    TransportationParents are responsible for their student's transportation unless noted otherwise. When picking

    up your student from class, please be prompt, as additional supervision is not provided afterclass.

    ScholarshipsA limited number of scholarships are available for selected classes. Please call 328-4000 torequest additional information. Scholarships are funded in part by the following: 21st CenturyCommunity Learning Center Grant, Rochester Public School Foundation Chance Fund and theRochester Area Foundation Donor Advised Fund. We thank these organizations for their sup-port to the students in our community.

    Health ConcernsPlease indicate on the registration form if your student has any medical or health concerns. TheCommunity Education staff is not trained to administer any medication.

    Tax Credit/DeductionThe fee charged for some activities may be tax deductible. Please consult your tax advisor todetermine whether you qualify for an education tax credit or deduction.
