An award-winning musical about passion and power

Photo: KirkTuck.com

September 30-November 1, 2015 ■ Topfer TheatreExperience passion and seduction in the all-new production of seven-time Tony®-winning musical Evita. Revered by her people as an advocate for the poor, Eva Perón climbed meteorically from the slums of Argentina to her role as beloved First Lady at the age of 27, and became one of the most powerful women in the world. Evita tells Eva’s story through some of the theatre’s most beautiful songs, including the unforgettable “Don’t Cry for Me Argentina.”

Music by Andrew Lloyd Webber

Lyrics by Tim Rice

Directed and Choreographed by Nick Demos

Musical Direction by Allen Robertson

A lively play about true connection

By Nina Raine

Starring Russell Harvard from the original New York cast and Lauren Lane (TV’s The Nanny, ZACH’s Vanya, Sonia, Masha and Spike)

Directed by Dave Steakley

January 27-February 28, 2016 ■ Topfer TheatreAs the only deaf member of his sharp-tongued British family, sweet-natured Billy has spent much of his life feeling out of place. But when he meets a young woman on the brink of deafness, he finds out what it means to belong for the first time. This provocative and touching play is as much about the tyranny of language, as it is about the challenge of not being able to hear it. ZACH’s production stars deaf, Austin actor Russell Harvard, who won a 2012 Theatre World Award for Outstanding Debut Performance, and garnered Drama League, Outer Critics Circle, and Lucille Lortell Award nominations for Outstanding Lead Actor for his role in Tribes.

Tribes contains adult language.

Holland Taylor as ANN. Photo: Platon

April 6-May 15, 2016 ■ Topfer TheatreTough as nails. Funny as hell. Ann brings our brassy blue Governor Ann Richards back to vivid life in a tour-de-force performance direct from Broadway. Emmy-winner and Tony-nominee Holland Taylor (Bosom Buddies, The Practice, Two and a Half Men) will reprise her role as Ann Richards in this inspiring and hilarious new play that brings you face to face with a complex, colorful, and captivating character bigger than the state from which she hailed. This Texas-sized story treats you to an up close and personal visit with one of the most unforgettable personalities in Texas politics. “I do not want my tombstone to read, ‘She kept a really clean house.’ I think I’d like them to remember me by saying, ‘She opened government to everyone’. ”

Directed by Abe Reybold

Starring Martin Burke

June 1-26, 2016 ■ Topfer TheatreIt’s the Swingin’ Sixties and the easily-confused Francis Henshall attempts to keep his two employers (local gangster Roscoe Crabbe and upper class criminal Stanley Stubbers) from meeting and learning of his dual-employment. This Tony® Award-winning comedy is a modern take on Goldoni’s classic play A Servant of Two Masters. It’s a laugh-out-loud satirical romp of slapstick and one-liners, with a live Beatles-era skiffle band that keeps the party rockin’!
