Editor's Note
Dear Members.
Season's Greetings!
It is a privilege to be in touch with all members through this edition again. One
more month and we will be half way down our financial year. It's time to check how
our business is doing so that we can do course correction now itself. Here are three
steps that will help make sure you're on target:
1) Know your current status
2) Make the necessary adjustments
3) Get uncomfortable with your numbers.
It's been nearly 100 days after implementation of the Goods and Services Tax, the
GST Council at its 22nd meeting last week finally came out with some encouraging
alterations and we are expecting more in future GST Council Meetings. The
decisions taken will certainly make life easier for small businesses and exporters.
AIEMA is continuing to give support to all it's members on the GST front with
special programmes and updations. Activities of AIEMA, ACMEE and CAAIIUC has
been highlighted in this issue. Your regular feedback and article contribution to
[email protected] is valuable to us and we expect them full heartedly.

Balloons in Room Teamwork Short Story
A group of employees was working in an Elevator company. It was a team of 30 employees. This was a young, energetic and dynamic team with keen enthusiasm and desire to learn and grow.
The team was called to play a game in a banquet hall. As they entered the hall, they found the hall decorated beautifully with colourful decorative papers and balloons all over the place. There was a huge box of balloons placed at the centre of the hall.
The Manager asked everyone to pick a balloon from the box and asked them to blow it. Every one happily picked a balloon and blew it. Then the Manager asked them to write their names on their balloon, carefully so that the balloons didn't blow up. All tried to write their names on the balloons, but not everyone was successful. A few balloons blew up due to pressure and they were given another chance to use another balloon.
Those who failed to mark their names even after the second chance were ruled out of the game. After the second chance, 25 employees were qualified for the next level. All theballoons were collected and then put into a room.
The Manager announced the employees to go to the room and pick the same balloon that had his name on it. Also, he told them that no balloon should blow up and warned them to be very careful!
All 25 employees reached the room, where the balloonscarrying their names were thrown here and there. They were searching for the respective balloons carrying their names. While they were in a rush to find the respective balloons, they tried not to burst the balloons. It was almost 15 minutes and no one was able to find the balloon carrying his own name. The team was told that the second level of the game was over.
Now it is the third and final level. They asked the employees to pick any balloon in the room and give it to the person named on the balloon. Within a couple of minutes all balloons reached the hands of the respective employee and everyone reached the hall.
The Manager announced; this is called real solutions to the problems. Everyone is frantically hunting for solutions to the problems without understanding the ideal ways.
Moral: Many times, sharing and helping others give you real solutions to all problems. Help out each other to ease things.

Greetings to each one of you and your family members. This year,2017 is a very challenging year, Indian economy has slowed down due implementation of RERA (real estate regulatory act), De monetisation and GST. Due to this the real estate industry is very cautious in its approach and on starting new projects and are focussed in completing the existing projects. This is only a temporary phenomenon and the market will bounce back shortly.
In this scenario, it is very much essential that we need to develop our capability and stand unique amongst others in elevator business to capture the lion share of the available market demand and become stronger ,where the economy bounce back .Fujitec Japan is considering India as a biggest market for elevator industry and has immense faith on us. They are extending all support to develop our capabilities, by adding new automated machinery, Salvagnini to manufacture higher volumes and had set up a controller manufacturing line. Today we are the only company having capability to indigenously manufacture elevators of speed 3 MPs. Very shortly, we will be gaining capability to manufacture elevators of further higher speeds. We are also exporting elevators in South Asian countries and our products are well accepted by them. Kyoto M product released this year is highly successful, congratulations to the entire team involved in this project.Special thanks to the Japanese team in India and Fujitec Japan for supporting us in our endeavours.
We have today various major builders with us, we must do brick walling and proactively work to meet their expectations and ensure these customers stay with permanently. We must also increase our customer base and ensure the same multiplies fast. We should not lose a single elevator on account any field related or employeerelated / shortcomings from any department.
While doing everything to delight our valued customers, we must bill and collect payment due to us in time.
With the slowdown of economy and huge investments going into the company, it is very much essential, we need to focus on enhancing the productivity, improving the quality, cutting down the cost through process improvement, and cutting down the unnecessary expenditure in all functions of ourcompany. We have lot of scope in improving every activity, let us focus on it for achieving healthy topline and improvedbottom line of the company.
We have developed a very strong organisation to meet all challenges in front of us. I amfully confident that with all our expertise and commitments we will be in a positon to breakeven shortly.
Elevators and escalators are installed in commercial and residential buildings, and find extensive use in IT parks, hotels, restaurants, and retail outlets. Steady growth of the construction industry coupled with the development of high-quality public transport systems in India is responsible for this market's impressive growth rate of more than 15% during the forecast period.
Rapid urbanization and high disposable income of the populace in this region is a critical driver that is expected to spur market growth during the forecast period. Due to rapid urbanization, the annual disposable income of the country is increasing. This increase in disposable income is expected to augment the buying power of customers in this region, which in turn will result in the increased spending on infrastructure development during the next five years.
Product-based segmentation of the elevator and escalator market in India
Lean in Nutshell ElevatorsEscalators
The market research analysts have estimated the escalators segment to show the highest market growth rate during the forecast period. High growth rate of this segment can be attributed to the development of high-quality infrastructure projects in the country. As infrastructure projects employ more escalators than elevators, analysts predict the escalators segment to show a higher adoption rate than the elevators segment.

The test of Swami Vivekanand SWAMI VIVEKANAND'S inspiring personality has been well known in India and abroad from decades to come. This unknown monk of India suddenly rose to fame at the Parliament of Religions held in Chicago (America) in 1893, representing Hinduism. His vast knowledge of Eastern and Western culture as well as his deep spiritual insight, brilliant conversation skills, empathy and colorful personality made a mark on the hearts of many. People who ever happen to see or hear Swami Vivekanand even once still cherish his memory after a lapse of more than half a century.
Before leaving for abroad for the first time to preach Hinduism, Vivekanand's mother wanted to know whether he is all perfect for this mission or not, she invited him for dinner. Vivekanand enjoyed the food that had the additional flavor of his mother's special love and affection. After the delicious dinner, Vivekanand's mother offered Vivekanand a dish of fruits and a knife. Vivekanand cut the fruit, ate it and after that his mother said, "Son, can you please give me the knife, I need it." Vivekanand immediately responded by giving the knife.
Vivekanand's mother calmly said, "Son, you have passed my test and I heartily bless you for going abroad." Vivekanand surprisingly asked, Mother, how did you test me? I did not understand.
Mother replied, Son, when I asked for the knife, I saw how you handed it to me, you gave the knife by holding its sharp edge and kept the wooden handle of knife towards me. This way, I would not get hurt when I take it and this means you took care of me. And this was your test in which you passed.
The person who thinks of others welfare rather than thinking about self has got the right of preaching the world and you have got that right. You have all my blessings.
This was the most important mark he left in the hearts of many he met in his lifetime - to think of others before thinking for self.
Moral: There are some qualities which draw the difference between a common man & an uncommon man. To think about the welfare of everyone falls under an extraordinary quality. The true noble person is the one who thinks of others' happiness even if it is in little matters to our day to day life. The one who thinks of himself alone is considered selfish & will not be valued by theworld in the long run. It is the law of nature that as the bigger hearted & noble you are, the more you will keep receiving & as the narrower minded you become, the less you will receive. - Ponraj

The oil and gas sector needs to diversify if it wants to prosper
Oil and gas companies need to start planning for a low-carbon future and embrace the opportunities it presents
One does not have to look far to see signs that the oil and gas industry has a bumpy road ahead. Demand might stay high for decades, but given the dizzying pace of technological change, who would bet on that?
Take the recent pledges by India, France, Britain, and China to phase out petrol and diesel vehicles. Or the plummeting costs of grid-scale solar power, rapidly becoming cheaper than fossil-fuelled electricity.
These developments should cause oil and gas companies to think very carefully about their next move. Big investments in natural gas globally, made on the
assumption that gas is a bridge to a clean energy future, may fall flat because renewables are developing so swiftly.
The fact of the matter is that oil and gas companies need to start planning for a low-carbon future and embrace the opportunities it presents. One approach is to diversify their products and embrace renewable energy, one of four strategies that CSIRO has identified in its industry-led Oil and Gas Roadmap that outlines some of the future directions the industry might take.
With 40% of companies involved in the exploration and production of petroleum likely to move away from oil and gas in 2017, solar photovoltaics and energy storage offer alternative avenues in which oil and gas companies can invest.Renewables can be integrated into operations to reduce both the cost and the carbon
intensity of operations. In the longer term, these technologies could help energy companies to develop more sophisticated offerings. For instance, hybrid solar and gas microgrids could be sold to developing nations, allowing them to leapfrog from energy poverty into clean, cheap distributed energy for all, effectively skipping expensive, centralised electricity grid infrastructure.
Gas-powered ships
Two more strategic opportunities focus on expanding the potential of the least carbon-intensive fossil fuel: natural gas.
For example, global demand for liquefied natural gas (LNG) for transport is expected to grow fourfold to 100 million tonnes a year by 2030, a prime target being maritime shipping. Meeting this LNG demand could open up a valuable market for Australia.
Another opportunity lies in the creation of higher-value products. Natural gas can be converted to many refined products that can fetch higher margins in the market, including diesel and other chemicals such as methanol and dimethyl ether.
More investment is needed to make conversion technology economically competitive, but it would be a wise investment, especially in light of Australia’s lack of domestic strategic fuel reserves.
Hydrogen fuel is another possibility for Australian resource companies. It can be produced from gas, but in the future hydrogen fuel could also be manufactured by solar-powered electrolysis of water. Both would be good options, given Australia’s abundance of gas and sunlight.
Investments will be needed to improve the production and transport economics of hydrogen,
including the development of efficient technologies that can convert hydrogen carriers (like ammonia) to hydrogen at the point of use.
Our roadmap also suggests other ways for companies to get involved in the energy transition, by becoming more efficient, less wasteful, and more productive.
Advanced environmental solutions point to ways to improve water quality and reuse, reduce or eliminate greenhouse gas emissions (including sequestering carbon dioxide, controlling fugitive emissions, and finding alternatives to flaring), and finding the best ways to decommission assets like wells and offshore platforms after their useful life is over.
The industry needs to be much more efficient in exploring and producing oil and gas so that the life of existing assets can be lengthened, often using less environmentally damaging approaches such as waterless fracturing and reservoir rejuvenation using microbes. Robots and artificial intelligence could also help to improve efficiency and safety.
The oil and gas sector has an important role to play in the future of the energy sector, but that role is changing. Companies need to be proactive to remain relevant. If they pursue some of the opportunities outlined here, they will help ensure they stay viable into the future.

Causes, symptoms & Prevention The mosquito-borne viral disease dengue has become one of the worst nightmares of the country. Also called 'breakbone fever' or 'dandy fever', it is caused by a family of viruses and is transmitted via aedes mosquitoes. Dengue begins suddenly, with more benign symptoms at first but which may get severe with time. The symptoms of the disease show in three to seven, and sometimes fifteen, days. They include fever, headache, joint and muscle pain, swollen lymph nodes and rashes. Recovery from dengue does not take over a week unless the condition gets severe. Mostly asymptomatic, if the condition gets critical, dengue can be life-threatening.
The fever of dengue can attack anyone but those with weaker immunity are more prone to the disease getting severe when they are attacked. As it is caused by any of the five serotypes of the aedes aegypti, also called the yellow fever mosquito, dengue can happen multiple times to the same person. However, the person acquires immunity to the particular viral serotype which has already attacked him.
A more severe form of dengue is dengue hemorrhagic fever. The symptoms of dengue hemorrhagic fever include headache, rashes and fever besides bleeding in the body (haemorrhage), formation of red splotches on the skin, black coloured stool, bleeding in gums or nose and a weakened immunity. Dengue hemorrhagic fever is life threatening and can lead to dengue shock syndrome, which is as severe and fatal.
Causes
Dengue is caused by the bite of one of the many types of mosquitoes in the genus Aedes Aegypti, which has white stripes on their bodies and legs. It is caused when the mosquito has previously bitten a person who was infected. The pathway which is followed in case of the incidence of dengue is 'infected person to mosquito to another person'.
The spread of the dengue virus cannot happen directly from one person to another. It is not contagious and cannot spread through direct human contact. It needs an aedes mosquito for the virus to be transferred.
Symptoms
The incubation period of dengue, that is, the time it takes for symptoms to show after the bite of a mosquito carrying virus, can be anywhere between three and fifteen days. The symptoms may show in parts as they begin with more benign symptoms such as headache, chills, fever, pain in eyes, loss of appetite and backache. Pain in joints also occurs in the first hours of the occurrence of dengue. One can experience fever of up to 104 degree Fahrenheit, low heart rate along with
hypotension, that is low blood pressure. Besides t he s e , t he re c ou l d b e r e d d e n i n g o f e y e s , development of pink rashes on the face which may disappear and inflammation in lymph nodes and groin.
The above symptoms appear in the first phase of dengue, which ideally last for up to four days. The second phase will begin with a drop in body temperature and sweating. But before this, you may experience that your body temperature has come down to normal and you would feel relatively better, but this will not last for more than a day and would lead you to the second phase of dengue symptoms. The third phase may see a rapid rise in temperature again, with rashes developing all over your body but your face.
Doctors say that more than half people infected with the virus remain asymptomatic, that is, they do not show any symptoms. If you are suspecting dengue, you can be on a lookout for the following signs, however they may or may not show: - High fever - Intense sweating - Pain in joints - Nausea and vomiting - Loss in appetite - Drop in blood pressure - Skin rash - Swelling in hands and soles of feet If the situation worsens, there can be a drop in the level of blood platelets, blood plasma leakage or the blood pressure can drop down to a critically low point which may lead a circulatory collapse (shock).
Prevention
As the dengue virus is mostly active during daylight hours, particularly early morning and late afternoon, special precautions should be taken during these times of the day. Tropical and sub-tropical areas are more prone to the disease, hence travelling from and to these regions should be avoided.
The following precautions can be adhered to in order to prevent the incidence of dengue:
Ensure improved water storage / Ensure proper waste disposal / Strictly avoid water stagnancy
Use mosquito repellents containing 10 per cent DEET but ensure that you read the warning label on them carefully
Avoid dark colored clothing as mosquitoes are attracted to darker shades / Wear light colored, full-sleeved clothes
Opt for natural mosquito repellents like marigold and lemon grass
Also, in 2016, World Health Organization has approved a vaccination for dengue, Sanofi Pasteur's Dengvaxia (CYD-TDV). It can be administered to people in the age group of 9 - 45 years in three doses in areas where the incidence of dengue is endemic. You can read more about it

Besides t h e s e , t h e re c o u l d b e r e d d e n i n g o f e y e s , development of pink rashes on the face which may disappear and inflammation in lymph nodes and groin.
