LOCATION
• ZION NATIONAL PARK is
located in Southern Utah.
• Its coordinates are 37012’09”N
112059’16” W
HOW ZION WAS FORMED• Layers of sand, mud, and gravel washed down
• These layers grew to be 10,000 feet thick
• Minerals soaked into Zion’s layers
• These minerals helped Zion get its colors
• The stone shifted up to form mountains
• The new mountains caused rivers to erode the layers
• Deep canyons were formed by the running water
• These rivers are still eroding today
