Our insurance productsPersonal insurance

Life insurance:

• ZM PRIZMA HIBRID is a type of life insurance with first real active asset management at the level of an individual policy. Investment strategy is based on the mathematical algorithm placing assets in the external fund DWS Garant 80 Dynamic and the portfolio called Sklad ZM Garant. When taking out insurance, the insured chooses the investment goal between 0 % and 100 % of the net premium paid and the insurance company takes care each month that the assets are adequately distributed between the two funds, using a special dynamic asset management system (mathematical algorithm). The product Risk life insurance (Riziko) which yields high coverage in the event of death and serious illness can be attached to the saving part of the life insurance product ZM PRIZMA Hibrid at a favourable price. Furthermore, you can choose between: personal genetic analysis (DNA) or preventive manager’s examination which are new on the Slovene insurance market.

• ZM PRIZMA CLASSIC LIFE INSURANCE – combines insurance and saving. The insurance product is intended for persons between 14 and 70 years of age. Each year, Zavarovalnica Maribor accrues the corresponding part of profit to the insurance and thus increases the value of policy and the sum insured.

• ZM PRIZMA UNIT-LINKED LIFE INSURANCE – combines life insurance and saving in investment funds. It is suitable for all those who require higher returns than those yielded by classic life insurance. Multiply your savings in different investment opportunities. You can select between domestic and foreign fund managers and the internal guaranteed-return fund of Zavarovalnica Maribor ZM ZAjAMČENI.

• ZM PRIZMA COMFORT PACKAGE – is intended for persons between 15 and 50 years of age who wish to take out insurance for the event of the usual risks and take care of the financial safety of their close relatives. In addition to high insurance sums, this insurance product also offers once-off compensations for hospitalisation and pain in the event of accident, preventive medical examination for managers after two years and payment of up to 6 subsequent monthly premiums for the case of unemployment.

• ZM PRIZMA SMART INVESTMENT is a lifelong unit-linked insurance product for adults aged between 40 and 80. Your assets can be multiplied in three pre-structured savings schemes or you can design your own savings scheme choosing from a selection of funds we offer.

• ZM PRIZMA SMART AUTUMN – is a lifelong insurance product for late middle-aged adults and retired persons between 50 and 80 who wish to take out life insurance for the event of death. When taking out this insurance, there is no medical questionnaire or medical examination so that insurance can also be taken out by persons already having medical problems. Two persons can be insured with a singe Smart autumn life insurance policy for the event of death;

• ZM PRIZMA RISK LIFE INSURANCE – is intended for persons who wish to ensure high sums insured while paying low premiums. This life insurance only covers the event of death, with a constant sum insured and does not include a saving component.

• ZM PRIZMA jUNIOR SCHOLARSHIP UNIT-LINKED INSURANCE – is a life insurance product linked to the, the aim of which is to ensure financial safety for a child as the beneficiary of the insurance policy.

• GOLDEN KEY LIFE INSURANCE – is a special life insurance product with special-purpose saving for the benefit of the child. The beneficiary for the case of death or endowment is a child who may not be older than 13 upon signing the policy.

• jOINT LIFE INSURANCE FOR TWO PERSONS – the advantage of this type of insurance is the possibility of taking out one insurance policy for two persons from 14 to 65 years of age.

• TERM LIFE INSURANCE WITH INTERVAL PAYMENTS – an insured person or a person taking out this type of insurance coverage can choose between various periods of coverage, paying out of the agreed portions of benefit and the number of interval payments.

• ANNUITY INSURANCE – within ZM PRIZMA classic life insurance, life insurance for a limited period of time with interval payments, and insurance for two persons, the beneficiary may select the option to receive the insurance money or part of it upon maturity or the event of loss also in the form of annuity:

– simple life annuity: for the persons who have no dependant close relatives at the moment when the annuity insurance policy is taken out;

– life annuity with guaranteed payment period: for the persons who have at least one dependant close relative at the moment when the annuity insurance policy is taken out;

– time-limited life annuity: for all those who wish to increase their monthly income for a certain period of time, either for financing the studies, repaying a loan, etc.

• PRIZMA FLExPENSION PLUS – is a once-off insurance product with guaranteed payment of net premium written and earned returns. The DWSFlexPension fund, which is managed by a reputable German company DWS Investments, offers high returns by investing in international stock and bond funds.

In co-operation with Nova KBM, ZM offers the following through bancassurance:

• LIFE INSURANCE FOR BORROWERS is an insurance product for the event of a borrower’s death involving a decreasing sum insured which is being reduced in the course of insurance, equalling zero at the expiry of insurance period. financial strength of ZMZavarovalnica Maribor is a member of the Nova KBM Financial Group and the Pozavarovalnica Sava Group of insurance companies. The latter connects and integrates the insurance activity while ZM and other members are looking for synergies in the banking group. The clients, who are in most cases the clients of the entire financial group, are offered a comprehensive range of financial services, based on thorough observation of spatial development. In 2005, joint efforts of ZM and NKBM came to fruition: both financial institutions offered a possibility of taking out insurance using the distribution channel tagged “bankassurance”, also in the sales network of Nova KBM.

Events that marked the year 2010 in ZM

… in the field of recruitment:

• The Supervisory Board of Zavarovalnica Maribor appointed Borut Celcer, MSc, previously the person authorised by the Management Board, new member of the Management Board of ZM;

• Lea jerič became Acting Director of the Kranj BU;

• Branko Tekmec is appointed Assistant Director of the Maribor BU;

• the employees elected new president and new members of the Workers’ Council of ZM; the new president of the Workers’ Council and thus member of the Supervisory Board of ZM (as employee representative) is Robert Ciglarič;

… in the area of communications and innovation:

• new product was offered to the policyholders, namely the life insurance product “ZM PRIZMA Komfort Paket” for persons between 15 and 50 years, with the following advantages: high payments, insurance, saving and investment at the same time; payment of up to six consecutive monthly premiums in the event of unemployment, etc.;

• comprehensive automobile insurance was completely updated and modernised (the new range of “MOj KASKO” products is now even better adjusted to the wishes and expectations of the insured);

• we introduced “selective writing” of agricultural insurance as a result of the situation on the reinsurance market, the technical result of agricultural insurance and the owners’ expectations of better performance;

• we solemnly opened the doors to our new Claims Handling Centre in Ljubljana (new business premises mean more comfortable working environment for our employees and business partners and enable clients to resolve their claims faster);

• our business premises in Štajerski avtodom in Maribor, intended for vehicle claim assessment, were also renovated and modernised;

• following the successful external audit of the three-year report, we received a full certificate for a Family-Friendly Company;

• as traditionally, we were the sponsors of Folkart in the scope of Lent Festival in Maribor;

• we signed the contract for the sponsorship of the Golden Fox (women alpine world ski cup competitions) in Maribor.

Historical Highlights of ZM

• 1833 – The beginnings of insurance operations in our area date back to the first half of the nineteenth century when the town of Maribor had its buildings insured against fire by an Austrian insurance institution.

• 1840 – Karl Denke in Karl Gerdes, the owners of a coffee substitute factory from Rače, started operating as insurance agents selling hail insurance. They represented Mariborska vzajemna zavarovalnica (Maribor Mutual Insurance company).

• The period before the First World War – Not less then seventeen insurance agencies opened their branch offices in Maribor. They were representing insurance companies from Vienna, Trieste, Graz and London. Most of them operated in Maribor also after the war, when even some more were added to the list.

• 1927 – In Maribor an insurance company “Ljudska samopomoč” (People’s Self-Aid) was established. Its objective was to help relatives cover the expenses of medical treatments or funeral services. Already in the first year of its existence the company had ten thousand insured persons, and less than six years after its foundation their number trebled.

• 1937 – The insurance company operated in the Maribor area and started a mutual loan society “Ljudska štednja”. Excellent business results led to the construction of a large building located opposite the railway station (today’s address is Paritzanska c. 47), which suffered bombing during the Second World War; its activities expanded by opening a branch office in Ljubljana.

• 1939 – The second Maribor insurance company was “Gospodarsko zavarovalna zadruga Drava”, which set up its own business premises at Ulica talcev 1, and opened a branch office in Ljubljana.

• April 1941 – Because of German occupation, the property of the “Ljudska samopomoč” insurance company was transferred to the Südmark insurance company in Graz, Austria.

• 1945 – On the ruins of pre-war insurance agencies and branch offices, two branch offices of “Državni zavarovalni zavod (DOZ)” (National Insurance institution) were established: DOZ – Maribor town, and DOZ – the surroundings of Maribor.

• 1962 – “Skupna zavarovalnica za okraj Maribor” (a joint insurance company for the Maribor district) was established due to the restructuring of “Državni zavarovalni zavod”; it was operating relatively independently even though it was supervised by “Zavarovalna skupnost Slovenije” (Slovenian Insurance Community). It was carrying out insurance operations in the territory of the then Maribor District.

• 1968 – The year of turbulent times all over the world. It was also the year that brought real independence for the insurance company in Maribor, which was entered into the register under the title “Zavarovalnica Maribor” (Maribor Insurance Company). Soon it established its business units also in Celje, Ljubljana, Postojna, Piran and Pula.

• The end of 1976 – in the seventies, there was a strong political pressure for mergers. This led to the integration of the two sole Slovenian insurance companies – “Zavarovalnica Sava” (Sava Insurance Company) and “Zavarovalnica Maribor” (Maribor Insurance Company) into a joint insurance company called “Zavarovalnica Triglav” (Triglav Insurance Company). On 1 january 1997 a regional office Maribor of the Triglav Insurance Company started to operate, but its operations were limited solely to the Podravje and Koroška regions.

• The end of 1990 – the wind of change started blowing in Slovenija and also in the biggest town on the Drava river. The regional office Maribor with two larger business units (Slovenj Gradec and Ptuj) separated from the Triglav Insurance Company and started operating under its previous name: Zavarovalnica Maribor (Maribor Insurance Company).

• 15 December 2000 – the Annual General Meetings of Insurance Companies Maribor and Tilia adopted the resolutions on merger. But on the grounds of the lawsuit filed by 17 minor shareholders of Tilia, the implementation of the entry of the new company into the Companies Register was suspended and later revoked at the Annual General Meetings of both companies in 2002.

• 2000-2005 – Considerable growth and provision of safety to customers.

• 2007 – ZM became a pilot company for the Slovenian model of the Family-Friendly Company certification in the Young Mothers/Families Friendly Employment development partnership.

• 2008 – Zavarovalnica Maribor was voted “Best Large Company in Maribor”, while Drago Cotar was voted “Best Maribor Manager” by the readers of the “Mariborčan” magazine. Zavarovalnica Maribor was the first insurance company in Slovenia to offer ECO automobile insurance – “Be ECO, drive less, pay less”.

• 2009 – Zavarovalnica Maribor was awarded a prize for reaching the finale in the competition Horus – socially responsible company, which is awarded by the Institute of socially responsible company and the Slovenian public relations association; moreover, ZM received a special award for innovation strategy granted by InCoMovement.

• 2010 – Supervisory Board of Zavarovalnica Maribor appointed Borut Celcer, MSc, previously the person authorised by the Management Board, new member of the Management Board of ZM.
