. o` e St. Peter Roman Catholic Church Mission Statement
Our mission is to proclaim the Kingdom of God by living the Gospel
of Jesus Christ through Word, Sacrament, and Service as taught by
the Roman Catholic Church. St. Peter Parish is a community of
dedicated Catholics centered on the Eucharist, which is the source
and the summit of all that we do and hope to become. Approved August 19, 2014
PARISH SACRAMENTS
SACRAMENT OF THE MOST HOLY EUCHARIST
As a parish, the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass is central to who we are and what we do.
Regular Mass Times are listed on the front of the
bulletin. Please contact the office for special Mass times during Lent and Holy Days of Obligation. To
receive formation for First Holy Communion,
contact the Parish Office, 896-9408.
SACRAMENT OF CONFESSION Essential to the Christian Life, the Sacrament of Confession is where we come into
contact with Christ who wishes to heal and bless us.
Regular Confession is an integral part of practicing
our Faith and experiencing the peace and joy of a
personal relationship with Jesus. 30 minutes before
every Mass, the Sacrament of Confession is offered. If you need to receive the Sacrament of Confession
for the first time, contact the Parish Office, 896-
9408.
SACRAMENT OF BAPTISM Through the waters of Baptism, the new Christian enters the Church and is given Eternal
Life. To have your infant baptized, please contact
the Parish Office at least 2-4 months prior to the baby’s due date so that there is enough time to
complete preparation for the Sacrament.
Parents should be registered, participating members of the Parish Family.
Proposed Sponsors (Godparents) should be
attending Mass regularly. Both parents and sponsors receive a Baptismal Packet which must be
completed and received before attendance at a
Baptismal instruction class is scheduled. A Baptismal date is determined after all Church
requirements are satisfied.
If you are a parent or an adult seeking the Sacrament of Baptism, please contact the Parish
Office, 896-9408.
SACRAMENT OF MARRIAGE In the beginning, God created mankind
as one, male and female. Christ elevated this union to the level of a Sacrament, an image of His own love
for His Bride, The Church. Our Parish Family is
made up of many beautiful marriages who enrich the Church and the world. Couples discerning the
vocation of Holy Matrimony should contact the
Parish Office to begin the journey of preparing for their new life together no later than 6-9 months prior
to the desired wedding date.
SACRAMENT OF ANOINTING OF THE SICK AND FUNERAL/BURIAL
ARRANGEMENTS The Church and her Sacraments
accompany us at every moment of our life. When
we are very sick or nearing the end of this life, we receive the healing of Christ through Anointing of
the Sick. Please contact the Parish Office, 896-9408,
to make an appointment. Also, contact the church office before
you contact anyone else in making funeral
arrangements. We are here to guide you through that most difficult time.

SAINT PETER ROMAN CATHOLIC CHURCH
SOLEMNITY OF CORPUS CHRISTI
THE MOST HOLY BODY AND BLOOD OF CHRIST JUNE 23, 2019
HOLY FATHER’S PRAYER INTENTION FOR JUNE
The Mode of Life of Priests
That priests, through the modesty and humility of
their lives, commit themselves actively to a
solidarity with those who are most poor.
FATHER LEDOUX’S PRAYER INTENTIONS FOR JUNE
WORSHIP: May the summer months NOT be an occasion for taking a vacation from the practice and study of our Faith but a time of deeper committed prayer and reflection upon the truths of our Catholic Faith. FAITH FORMATION: As our parish youth will make their First Confessions and First Holy Communion this month, may they be inspired by our example, and especially their parent’s commitment, to regular Confession and devout reception of Jesus in Holy Communion at Sunday Mass. EVANGELIZATION: In this month dedicated to the Sacred Heart of Jesus (feast day June 28th), may all the families of our parish trustingly open their hearts to Jesus who said: "Truly I say to you, ask and you will receive, seek and you will find, knock and it will be opened to you." May they be moved in faith to honor an image of the Sacred Heart within their homes. SOCIAL JUSTICE: May the unemployed of our parish receive support and find the work they need to live in dignity and support their families. BUILDINGS AND FACILITIES: As each of us prays about our own personal commitment to our Combined Capital Campaign for St. Peter and the Diocese, we ask direction of the Holy Spirit so that in all we do it may Glorify God and lift up one another.
HOUSEKEEPER NEEDED
St. Peter Parish is in need of a part-time housekeeper for
the priests’ residences and the parish office. Anyone
interested is asked to submit their name, contact number
and previous work experience to the parish office. The
deadline for applying is Wednesday, June 26th at 12:00 noon.
EUCHARISTIC PROCESSION ON THE SOLEMNITY OF CORUPUS CHRISTI
[The Most Holy Body and Blood of Christ] Sunday, June 23rd following 5:30pm Mass
This Sunday, June 23rd following the 5:30pm Mass, an outdoor Eucharistic Procession will take place (weather permitting). We will walk with Jesus into the streets proclaiming Him as Lord of our hearts and our community.
Come and bring what is on your heart and mind to the feet of Jesus as prayers are offered for our families, our community, our Church, and our world.
* PARISH SODALITIES CARRY BANNER IN PROCESSION. *
BE A PART OF THIS PROCLAMATION OF FAITH!
The procession with the Blessed Sacrament celebrates the
sacrament, signifies God’s presence in our world and in our
lives, and reminds us of our common pilgrimage to Heaven. It
is a prayerful and edifying act of the entire Church, a public
witness of the veneration toward the Most Holy Eucharist to
honor our Lord and to demonstrate our faith while walking in
the strong tradition of procession.
"Devotion to the Sacred Heart should bring us to a life of intimate union with Jesus who, we know, is truly present and living in the Eucharist. The two devotions — to the Sacred Heart and to the Eucharist — are closely connected. They call upon one another and, we may even say, they require one another.”

DIVINE MERCY MESSAGE “JESUS, I TRUST IN YOU”
St. Faustina: “May 27, 1937… Corpus Christi… When the procession from Borek came to our house, carrying Him who was to be reposed in our chapel, I heard a voice coming from the Host: ‘Here is My repose.’ During Benediction, Jesus gave me to know
that soon a solemn moment would take place on this very spot. ‘I am pleased to rest in your heart and nothing will stop Me from granting you graces.’ This greatness of God floods my soul, and I drown in Him, I lose myself in Him, I am melting away in Him…” (Diary 1133 & 1136)
PRO-LIFE REFLECTIONS
When the child grew older, she took him to Pharaoh’s daughter and he became her son. She named him Moses. ~ Ex 2:10
REFLECTION: Many couples are eager to adopt children but are unable to do so, either because of burdensome laws, or because the children have been killed by abortion. The pro-life movement promotes adoption; the pro-abortion movement does everything it can to discourage it.
PRAYER: Lord, look with love on all those who seek to adopt a child. Bless them for their generous desire to give a child a loving home.

ANIMA CHRISTI
Soul of Christ, sanctify me. Body of Christ, save me.
Blood of Christ, inebriate me. Water from the side of Christ, wash me.
Passion of Christ, strengthen me. O good Jesus, hear me.
Within your wounds conceal me. Do not permit me to be parted from you.
From the evil foe protect me. At the hour of my death call me.
And bid me come to you, to praise you with all your saints
for ever and ever. Amen.
PARISH PATRONAL FEAST OF SAINTS PETER AND PAUL
Saturday, June 29th
On June 29th the Church celebrates the feast day of Sts. Peter & Paul. As early as the year 258, there is evidence of an already lengthy tradition of celebrating the solemnities of both Saint Peter and Saint Paul on the same day. Together, the two saints are the founders of the See of Rome, through their preaching, ministry and martyrdom there.
WHY CELEBRATE OUR PATRON SAINTS? Celebrating our patron saints, whether our parish patron or our personal patrons, reminds us of the important roles they play in our lives. They serve as inspirations and examples for us as we try to live good lives and they act as intercessors on our behalf before the Throne of God. Our patron saints not only teach us that we should lead holy lives, they show us how.
PRAYER TO SAINTS PETER AND PAUL Father in heaven,
the light of your revelation brought Peter and Paul
the gift of faith in Jesus your Son.
Through their prayers may we always give thanks for your life
given us in Christ Jesus, and for having been enriched by Him
in all knowledge and love.
Through our Lord Jesus Christ, your Son,
who lives and reigns with you in the unity of the Holy Spirit,
one God, for ever and ever. Amen.

WHAT TO EXPECT: QUO VADIS DAYS – Tradition tells us that St. Peter put this question to Jesus (“Domine quo vadis?” Latin for “Where are you going?”) as Peter was making his way out of Rome to escape persecution. Jesus responded, “I’m going back to Rome to be crucified again in your place.” Peter turned around and remained in the city until he was martyred for his faith in Christ. These days will give us time to reflect on that question in our own lives: “Where am I going?” We will explore that question through prayer, fraternity, recreation, and talks on discernment.

RELIGIOUS FREEDOM WEEK June 22nd – 28th
In the face of our country’s challenges, and challenges within the Church herself, Catholics find strength in the hope of Jesus Christ. We
want to share that hope with everyone. Religious freedom gives us the space to carry out the mission that Jesus has entrusted to the Church. Religious freedom means that Catholics, and all people of goodwill, are free to seek the truth and to live in accordance with that truth, and so to strengthen our common life as a nation. Beginning June 22nd, the Feast of Saints Thomas More and John Fisher, the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops celebrates Religious Freedom Week. In the midst of our current challenges, join us as we seek the kingdom and find Strength in Hope. Learn more at www.usccb.org/ReligiousFreedomWeek

POST ABORTION HEALING:
PROJECT RACHEL Project Rachel is an abortion recovery program for those suffering the negative effects of an abortion experience. It is an individual (nine step process) and offers an opportunity through loving, caring, and understanding outreach to move toward healing and reconciliation. Individual appointments can be made by calling Trista Littell at (337)261-5598. All calls are confidential.
RACHEL’S VINEYARD RETREAT A Rachel's Vineyard weekend retreat is an opportunity for any man, woman, couple, grandparent, sibling, or anyone who struggles with the emotional or spiritual pain of abortion. This weekend retreat provides participants the opportunity and space to enter the grieving process, identify effects the abortion has had and release deep feelings of anger, shame, and guilt that frequently accompany an abortion experience. This unique retreat process is designed specifically to help retreatants experience the gentleness, mercy and compassion of Jesus as they walk the journey from pain to forgiveness.
Participants re-connect on a spiritual level with the children who have been aborted and give them honor and dignity through many special exercises as well as in a memorial service. Those who journey through their grief allow God to transform their experience into one that brings hope, liberation and peace.
When: October 4-6, 2019 (Respect Life Weekend) Time: Friday, 6:00 p.m. - Sunday, 3:00 p.m.
For more information about the retreat weekend and/or to register contact: Trista @ 337.261.5598. Pre-registration required. All inquiries are confidential.
RED BIRD MINISTRIES: LOVING THROUGH LOSS The death of a child is never easy and grief is experienced differently by everyone. Red Bird Ministries is a Catholic grief support ministry that focuses on couples who have experienced the loss of a child of any age by loving them through their loss. Core team members of Red Bird Ministries are parents of loss and know all too well what it is to live through such a horrific experience. Our goal is to help couples living this nightmare to not just survive their loss, but to love them through it by sharing our own experiences and healings, in hopes of helping them to survive and thrive in their marriages and in life. Please contact Kelly Breaux at (337) 223-2019 or at [email protected] for more information. Visit our website at www.redbird.love.

PARISH FINANCIAL STEWARDSHIP
In gratitude for our many gifts from God, parishioners and visitors made a joyful offertory to the Lord.
JUNE 16, 2019
OFFERING TOTAL $6,115.79
Building & Maintenance $143.00
St. Vincent de Paul $62.00
On-Line Giving (6/10-6/16) $771.00
A STEWARDSHIP MOMENT THE SOLEMNITY OF THE MOST HOLY BODY AND BLOOD OF CHRIST From the rich Eucharistic themes to be drawn from today’s second reading, one stewardship theme stands out: The Eucharist is Christ’s gift to us. Good stewards are grateful for this gift and realize that no matter their station in life, they are welcome to come to the table and receive the body and blood of Christ. If Jesus could break bread with his betrayer, Judas, his denier, Peter, and the other ten who deserted him, then he will welcome us. Do we truly appreciate what a tremendous gift it is to approach the Lord’s table? Do we realize that the Holy Spirit means to transform us by the gift of Christ’s body and blood?

PRAYER FOR OUR TROOPS
Almighty and eternal God, those who take refuge in You will be glad and forever will shout for joy. Protect these soldiers as they discharge their duties. Protect them with the shield of Your strength and keep them safe from all evil and harm. May the power of Your love enable them to return home in safety, that with all who love them, they may ever praise You for Your loving care. We ask this through Christ our Lord. Amen.

“The Heart of Jesus is the ultimate symbol of God’s mercy; but it is not an imaginary symbol, it is a real symbol, which represents the center, the source from which salvation for all humanity gushed forth.” ~Pope Francis
