CH 4 EXT Activity Lab Finding A line of Best Fit
You will need your TI84 calculator.
Today's Target
I Can......use graphing calculators to create a scatter plot and a line of best fit given a set of data....use a trend line on a graphing calculator to create and make predictions from a given set of data.

Interpret Scatter Plots and Trend LinesThe table shows the dosage of a particular medicine as related to a person's weight. Graph a scatter plot of the given data.
Technology Lab 4.5
Weight (lb) 90 100 110 125 140 155 170 180 200
Dosage (mg) 20 25 30 35 40 53 60 66 200
Suppose we want to predict the dosages for persons weighing 240 pounds and 146 pounds. The calculator can do this for us if we know how to tell it to use 240 or 146 for x.
75
To enter the data:Press S and select 1: Edit.
In L1, enter the first weight. Press e Continue entering all weights.
Use > to move to L2. Press e. Continue entering all dosages.
To view the scatter plot, press ̀ !. Select Plot 1.
Select On, the first plot type, and the plot mark +.
Press #. Select 9:ZoomStat. You should see a scatter plot on the data.
