22

Page 23:   · Web viewdue to the sacrifices of thousands of fellow Nirmalites across the years. We remember with utmost gratitude all those great personalities who cared forand nurtured this

Blood donation is life donation. In order to promote an attitude of blood

donation among the students the Red Ribbon Club and NSS Unit of Nirmala

College has formulated a blood donation register. The register includes the name of

students who are willing to donate blood. To enlist the name of the newly admitted

students of the college the unit organized a blood group identification camp on

28th August 2014 and the blood groups of all 1st year boys were identified and

included in the blood donors list.

Every year our nation requires about 4 crore units of blood. But hardly 40

lakh units of blood are available. As blood cannot be manufactured, it comes only

from generous donors. So, as socially responsible citizens of the nation, it is our

duty to donate blood to the needy. The Red Ribbon Club and NSS Unit of Nirmala

College is keen in promoting a habit of blood donation among the volunteers as

well as other students. As part of generating a consciousness among the students in

this regard, the unit organized a blood donation camp in association with

Regional Blood Transfusion Centre, Aluva on 9th October 2014. Thirty Eight

students donated blood in the camp.

The donors were awarded certificates of appreciation in their respective

classes by the class teachers to appreciate them and to promote the spirit of blood

donation among other students.

The Red Ribbon Club and NSS unit organizes several blood donation camps

throughout the year to generate a serious approach towards blood donation. On

27th November the NSS unit organized a blood donation camp in association

with the HDFC Bank Ltd, Muvattupuzha. The students and the teachers of the

college supported the programme by donating blood.
