Now is a great time to make the switch to eGiving – you can sign up from your computer, smartphone or tablet, and set up a recurring donation or make a one-time gift. Recurring gifts help sustain our parish as we continue to confront the challenges and turmoil sparked by COVID-19, and as we work to reopen more of our programs, services, and ministries for our church families and for those in need throughout the community. Sign up today by visiting faith.direct/FL738.
Thank you for your continued support of our parish family. God Bless You, Fr. Dan

Communion Hymn - In Christ Alone (Getty and Townend)
1.
In Christ alone my hope is found, He is my light, my strength, my song This Cornerstone, this solid ground firm through the fiercest drought and storm. What heights of love, what depths of peace when fears are stilled, when strivings
cease my Comforter, my all in all here in the love of Christ I stand. 2.
In Christ alone! - who took on flesh, fullness of God in helpless babe. This gift of love and righteousness, scorned by the ones He came to save
Till on that cross as Jesus died, the wrath of God was satisfied For every sin on Him was laid here in the death of Christ I live.
Closing Hymn - Jesus Christ Is Risen Today

08 APRIL 4, 2021 EASTER SUNDAY
On behalf of Friars Richard, Germain, Joe, Steven, Fr. Jose, Fr. Ray, Deacons Mark, Lee, Bruce, Antonio, Sister Mary Joan, the staff and myself, I would like to wish each and everyone a Blessed and Happy Easter. May God bless all during these 50 days of Easter joy!
People love a good story. It doesn't matter where you're from, what your background or history is, we love a good story. Today is the best story! The bad guy is defeated and his minions are put on notice.
I love today's first Reading taken from the Acts of the Apostles. Peter relates the facts as he remembers them to his congregation. It reminds me of the old Jack Webb series, “Dragnet”, when he would say, "Just the facts!" Peter as a witness to Christ's suffering, death and resurrection can and does speak with authority and determination on what he knows to be true. Threats and mistreatment, even death, does not deter him. This is especially important when we consider that Peter denied Christ three times as Christ was being set up for trial. Yet, that witness overpowers the moment of denial to the moment of triumph when Peter sees the Risen Lord.
What I especially like about Peter is his ability to be flexible and open to Jesus.
Many times, Peter adapts an opinion or expresses a thought that is contrary to the one of Jesus, yet Peter hangs in there. His tenacity is rewarded by the Lord who chooses Peter to lead His Church.
I have often wondered what Peter must have thought that first Easter. Did he and the others who took flight when the going got rough expect a tongue-lashing? Did Peter expect to be singled out for his denial? Frankly, we don't know.
Personally, if I had been in Peter's place, if I betrayed and denied my best friend, I would have probably thought that I would be off the list. In our day and time when so many give up on others because of a viewpoint or an opinion, maybe Easter is a perfect opportunity to give that a second thought.
The rising of Christ from the dead is the continuing promise of new life and new hope. May all of us truly be Easter People.
My brothers and sisters, while we have time, let us do good. Fr. Dan.

RESPECT LIFE
The Catholic Church proclaims that human life is a precious gift from God; that each person who receives this gift has responsibilites toward God, self, and others; and that society, through its laws and social institutions, must protect and nurture human life at every stage of its existence.
These beliefs flow from ordinary reason and from our faith's constant witness that "life must be protected with the utmost care from the moment of conception” a teaching that has been a constant part of the Christian message since the apostolic age.
SOCIAL TEACHING
We continue our exploration of the major themes of Catholic Social Teaching outlined in, "Sharing Catholic Social Teaching: Challenges and Directions", USCCB.
"The Dignity of Work and the Rights of Workers"
"In a marketplace where too often the quarterly bottom line takes precedence over the rights of workers, we believe that the economy must serve people, not the other way around. Work is more than a way to make a living; it is a form of continuing participation in God's creation."
Challenge Question: Do I recognize the dignity of ALL work? During this pandemic, some of us are able to safely work from home, while others in the healthcare profession and the service industries, continue to place their own lives at risk, for our benefit, because this IS their work. How might I honor those who are truly, participating "in God's creation" during these difficult times?
