January 14, 2019

Dear Coney Island Prep Families, Coney Island Prep celebrates its tenth anniversary this year. As we reflect on the past ten years, we feel overwhelmed with gratitude for the opportunity to serve you and your scholar. As you know best, your scholars have achieved so much. 100% of our first two classes graduated high school with at least 2 college acceptances. Our scholars in grades K-12 have seen dramatic achievement gains during their time with us, and outperform city and state averages. None of this is possible without your commitment and support. Looking ahead to the next ten years, we remain dedicated to preparing your scholars for the college and career of their choice. We are excited to announce that Coney Island Prep is seeking to grow our impact by increasing our total enrollment from the current 1,000 scholars we proudly serve to offer this same opportunity to more than 1,600 students. While this growth will occur incrementally, we hope to add additional seats in Kindergarten, first, sixth, and ninth grades beginning fall 2020. This expansion will allow us to dramatically diversify our offerings to your scholars, expand our resources in our high school, and retain and attract top talent for teaching and leadership positions, while maintaining our sense of community. We are excited for what this will mean for you, your scholar, other families in District 21, and us as an organization. We are grateful for your dedication and commitment to Coney Island Prep, and we truly value your voice. As we are in the beginning phases of this process, we would like to invite you to join us at our Family Council meetings next week (information below) to hear more about the growth plan and timeline. In the coming weeks, there will be additional opportunities to share your hopes about the future of Coney Island Prep. We look forward to our continued partnership as we embark upon this journey!
