Die aansig van Steelpoort het in twee jaar geweldig verander. Myne en ontwikkelaars belê in die gebied. Nuwe besighede word gevestig, die paaie in die dorp is herstel en ’n algemene positiewe gevoel heers. Dieselfde veranderinge is in Burgersfort te bespeur.

Hoe raak dit Lydenburg? Wel, Lydenburg is die grootste dorp in die gebied en bied steeds die meeste besighede en dienste. Baie van Steelpoort en Burgersfort se mense verkies Lydenburg se matige klimaat en woon hier. Dit beteken hulle koop hulle kos, melk en brandstof hier.Die beplande ontwikkeling van die stuk grond tussen Ruiterstraat en die Visserye kan groot voordele inhou, deurdat mense hulle hier vestig en die koopkrag verbeter.Ons het baie probleme met infrastruktuur, onrus, die status van die ekonomie en elke ding, wat aar

geneig is om ons negatief te maak. Elke week maak ’n besigheid toe, maar daar maak nuwes oop. Ek droom van Namakwaland gisteraand. Van die plate blomme. Ek weet nie wat dit beteken dat ek soos ’n skapie wil huppel tussen die blommetjies nie. Maar ai dit bly ’n lekker droom. Die droom het my laat dink aan die Byeboerwa se lirieke: ‘Blom in die hare en bye wat pla.’ Die afgelope naweek het ek op RSG gehoor hoe die toeroperateurs die blommeland-vakansies adverteer. So ’n paar jaar gelede was ek en my ma in Namawakland. Daar was blomme, plate daarvan in Namakwaland. Gansog ies , Bokhor ink ies , Gousb lomme, Bokbaaivygies, Bababoutjies, Botterblom en Suurvye. Doemprofete het gewaarsku voor ons vertrek: “Julle sal niks blomme sien nie.” Maar hoorhierso, ek moes partykeer my oë knip om weer te kan fokus op die kleurpalette. So ver soos jou oë sien is dit geel, wit, pers, pienk en groen waar ’n maand gelede net barre aarde was. Op party plekke staan varkore tussen lang gras en luister wat die wit Sneeukoppies plat op die grond fluister. Dit is stil waar die mense staan en kyk want niemand hoef te sê dat dit mooi is nie, dit is net. As iemand wat my eie ding doen was dit ’n ondervinding om vir vyf dae saam met ’n toergroep vakansie te hou. En ek is heerlik verkeerd bewys op my vooropgestelde idees oor mense. Die mense op die bus, soos Laurika Rauch sing, raak vriende. Dit is gewis, elke mens het ’n storie. En soos mens rustig jouself oorgee aan die natuur sien jy die beauty in elkeen se storie. Terug in die stowwerige Mpumalanga het ek besef die 6 000km wat ons gery het was ’n voorreg. Behalwe dit het ons wyn geproe in Franschhoek, Stellenbosch, Vredendal en Groot Constantia. Ons is op langs die Weskus, Yzerfontein, Saldanha en middagete geniet by die Paterenoster Hotel. Deur die hele Namakwaland het ons gereis tot bo by Gharies en Springbok.Onder andere deur die Jonkershoekberge, Piketberge en die Pakhuisberge waar C. Louis Leipoldt begrawe lê. Ek sal graag my voete wil verskuif na Paarl of Franschhoek permanent. Die landskap is asembenewend. Kaapstad met sy een voet in die see en Tafelberg met sy wolkekombers is pragtig. Elke keer as ek die Weskaap deurreis sê ek daar is te min tyd. En hierdie keer was nie anders nie. Alles was wonderlik, soos A. G. Visser dig:

Hy het met ’n revolusionêre konsep vorendag gekom. Hulle verkoop ’n lewenstyl. En dit het gewerk. Vandag is 7 uit elke 10 avontuurfietse wat verkoop word, BMW GS 1200’s. Hulle het die hele pakket. Van die fiets, bybehore, bagasie, klere, valhems en elke ding. Jy koop jou fiets en R100 000 se bybehore saam en die hele boksemdaais word op een transaksie gefinansier. ’n Leefstyl.Kyk na die Suid Afrikaanse motorfietsmark. As jy teen 200 km/u wil jaag, koop ’n superfiets, maar bly op die teer. Al die DP fietse van 800 cc en groter kan 200 ry, maar wat is die punt? Jy toer. Jy wil plekke sien. Jy soek vars lug en jy wil jou kop skoon kry. Sonder stres. Meeste vervaardigers bied tans teen sowat R 110 000 uitstekende enkelsilinder DP fietse wat meer as 150 op die snelweg kan ry. In die gebruikte mark kan jy ’n goeie 650 koop vir tussen R 40 000 en R 80 000. Jy gaan wegkom met ’n valhelm, beskermende baadjie en stewels vir so R 15 000. Dit klink na baie, maar glo my, as jy versigtig is, is dit ’n belegging in jouself en jou gesondheid. En die fietse is betroubaar. 100 000 Km vir dié fietse is niks. Ry agterpaaie en bly weg van snelweë en mal motoriste af. As ek Kaap toe ry bly ek van die N1 af. Ry deur die pragtige Oos Vrystaat en deur Golden Gate. Of deur die Noordkaap. Drink koffie op Pofadder of oornag in Garies. Neem ’n paar lesse by talle ryskole, kry jou lisensie en ry versigtig. Bly uit die verkeer. THE guys over at TheAutomobilist.fr were able to source these shots of what seems to be a more hardcore version of the already hardcore Renault Clio RS. It is rumoured that this will be called the Clio RS 16.The first changes to be noticed are the flared wheel arches, imposing rear spoiler for additional downforce and redesigned side skirts. The front fenders have also been ventilated to provide extra cooling for the brakes.The Clio RS 16 is believed to maintain the turbocharged 1,6-litre four-cylinder engine but with an added 22 kW giving it a final power output of 186 kW. Torque output is unknown and seeing as this is a leak there are no performance figures available either.It is suggested that the Clio RS 16 will see its reveal at the Monaco GP, and based on the interest it receives, Renault will decide whether it wishes to produce it or not. It’s unclear at this point, however whether this is a replacement model for the current RS or just a limited special edition.carmag.co.za

THE N division by Hyundai has been in the works for quite some time with a couple of hints of its developments showing up here and there. This weekend however, we may be set to witness a production scale model in action at the Nürburgring 24 Hours. Its appearance at this event aims to provide technical data to benefit the new division.

BUGATTI CEO Wolfgang Dürheimer has hinted that the automaker will effectively delimit the new Chiron should that be what a customer wants.Speaking to Car and Driver, Dürheimer said that with the Chiron’s “handling mode” engaged, a top speed of 385 km/h is possible. In this mode, there’s “maximum downforce and easy handling. It reacts like a go-kart,” he said.But toggling to “top speed” mode raises the limit to the full-fat 420 km/h. Thing is, Dürheimer revealed that this speed governor can also be completely disabled,

The car that is set to participate was built by the German-based Hyundai dealership. 40% of what we will see on this performance based i30 will be new with most of the focus being on the turbocharged 2,0-litre engine. M O D I K WA s o c c e r teams participated again in the annual SAMSA (South African Mining Spor t s Assoc ia t ion) Soccer tournament that was held in Carletonville (Gauteng) from the 17th to 21st May 2016 and was hosted by Sebanye Gold Mine Kloof Operation. This year proved to be a better year for the team as it was the first time ever that the team advanced from group stage to knockout stage of this tournament. Modikwa lost by 1-0 to Sebanye Gold on quarter-finals and Sebanye Gold were ultimately the winners of the tournament. Modikwa was the only team that lost narrowly to Sebanye Gold, all other t e a m s w e r e b e a t e n heavily by the 2016 Champions (Against Sebanye Gold - Northam lost by 5 - 0, Royal Bafokeng lost by 10 – 0, Harmony lost by 3 – 1 in the final). Die ATKV-debatkompetisie het nog altyd by Hoërskool Lydenburg hoë prioriteit geniet. Vanjaar was geensins anders nie en onder leiding van me. Carina Venter en me. Vickey De Jager het die 14 leerders (twee junior en vier seniorspanne) op 6 en 7 Mei deelgeneem aan die Mpumalanga-KwaZulu-Natal uitdunne.Tydens hierdie kragmeting het vier van die ses spanne hul debatte gewen. Drie van hierdie vier spanne het deurgedring na die landswye semifinale kompetisie wat 4 Junie te Genl. Hertzog, Witbank plaasvind. Dié spanne sal gewis LHS se naam hoog hou en die
