    Brief Description

    Step 1: Selection of site and monitoring it on themap with the help of ARC GIS.

    Selection of site is based on the fact that, waterand sediment quality will be altered when small

    streams are added to the river or at any pointsource ofcontamination.

    Two sites have been selected for samplingpurpose, namely:

    Sujanpur Bridge (Jaisinghpur) Stream is added and it iseven a point source ofcontamination

    Bhaleth small stream is being added to the main rivercourse

    Brief Description

    Step 4: Metal analysis of sedimentsamples(Sequential extraction and Atomicabsorption spectroscopy).

    Sequential Extraction:

    It is an analytical process that chemically leaches metalsout of soil, sediment and sludge samples. The purpose ofsequential extraction is to mimic the release of the selectivemetals into solution under various environmental conditions.

    Sequential extraction procedure has beenextensively studied in the analysis of trace metals includingCd, Co, Cr, Cu, Fe, Mn, Ni, Pb and Zn in both river sedimentsand marine sediments.
