Believe it or not, more than anything else this belief has been the glue that
keeps you stuck in pain, burning, tingling, numbness, weakness and/or other symp-
toms. Every client I’ve every helped become pain free has come to me believing
their pain started with some type of injury that caused damage to a disc or some
other part of their anatomy. “I picked something up and heard a pop.” “I turned my
neck and the pain started.” “I took a big golf swing and hurt my back.” I picked up
my child... I was just walking... I sneezed... I bent over...
Sound familiar?
Then you do what you usually do to try to alleviate your pain, based on this
belief. You try to rest for a while. Maybe in a few days you feel a bit better but
when you become active again, the pain returns. Then it’s off to the chiropractor.
Then perhaps the MD. Physical Therapy. Perhaps some alternative attempts to get
out of pain. Acupuncture, massage, anything to stop the pain. But they haven’t
worked. Maybe you had an MRI, CT Scan or X-Ray. That usually shows some
structural abnormality. A bulging disc. A herniated disc. Stenosis. A torn rotator
cuff. Or, you’ve been diagnosed with fibromyalgia or tendonitis. Maybe they told

As I indicated earlier, almost all my clients who have helped rid themselves
of life restricting pain and have gotten their full physical life back came to me with
the limiting and false belief that their pain was caused by an injury.
Here’s what I told them and what I’m now telling you: Your brain is a
coincidence detector. It looks for what’s different in a situation and assigns mean-
ing to it. So if you pick up something heavy and all of a sudden you are in searing
pain, your brain will link the two and all of a sudden you have a new belief that I
believe I picked up something heavy and I injured myself and that is the cause of
my pain. Seems logical right?
Fortunately for you logic isn’t always true. There is a big difference between
a trigger and a cause. Yes it triggered the pain and no it doesn’t cause your pain.
Many studies by top medical doctors at prestigious hospitals and published in dis-
tinguished journals have proven that structural abnormalities such as bulging discs
and herniated discs rarely cause pain. These studies have accidentally proven
that most pain doesn’t have a physical cause because it originates in your
brain. That’s why changing the way you think and more specifically changing the
way you process your emotions will allow you to banish your pain. Since the fact
is that structure doesn’t cause pain, how can lifting something be the cause?

Physical therapy can be helpful to assist with recovery from a trauma such as
a broken bone or surgery. However, research shows that almost all chronic, recur-
rent and repetitive pain is actually caused by Diversion Pain Syndrome.

Have you ever believed that you hurt yourself and either your doctor told

You know what’s interesting about images from MRI, CT Scan and X-Rays?
Nobody has ever proven that the findings have anything to do with pain.
As a matter of fact, the studies prove that the structural abnormalities like
bulging discs, herniated discs, stenosis, tendonitis, rarely cause even the slightest
amount of pain.
Study after study shows 2 of every 3 people who HAVE NEVER HAD PAIN have bulging or
herniated discs.
Even more amazing is the study that tracked 109 people, every one had
CT Scans showing herniated discs. 1-3 years after a Linguistic Intervention
