Preparing your garage door

Before you begin:• Disable locks.

• Remove any ropes connected to garage door.

• Complete the following test to make sure yourgarage door is balanced and is not sticking orbinding:

1. Lift the door about halfway as shown. Releasethe door. If balanced, it should stay in placesupported entirely by its springs.

2. Raise and lower the door to see if there is anybinding or sticking.

If your door binds, sticks, or is out of balance, calla trained door systems technician.

To prevent possible SERIOUSINJURYOR DEATH:

• ALWAYScall a trained door systems technician ifgaragedoor binds, sticks, or is out of balance.Anunbalanced garagedoor may not reversewhenrequired.

• NEVERtry to loosen, move or adjust garagedoor, doorsprings, cables, pulleys, brackets or their hardware,allof which are under EXTREMEtension.

• DisableALL locks and remove ALL ropes connected togaragedoor BEFOREinstalling and operating garagedoor opener to avoid entanglement.

To prevent damage to garagedoor and opener:• ALWAYSdisable locks before installing and operating

the opener.

• ONLYoperate garagedoor opener at 120V, 60 Hztoavoid malfunction and damage.

Planning

Identify the type and height of your garage door.Survey your garage area to see if any of theconditions below apply to your installation. Additionalmaterials may be required. You may find it helpful torefer back to this page and the accompanyingillustrations as you proceed with the installation ofyour opener.

Depending on your requirements, there are severalinstallation steps which may call for materials orhardware not included in the carton.

• Installation Step 1 - Look at the wall or ceilingabove the garage door. The header bracket mustbe securely fastened to structural supports.

• Installation Step 5 - Do you have a finished ceilingin your garage? If so, a support bracket andadditional fastening hardware may be required.

• Installation Step 10 - Depending upon garageconstruction, extension brackets or wood blocksmay be needed to install sensors.

• Installation Step 10-Alternate floor mounting ofthe safety reversing sensor wilt require hardwarenot provided.

Do you have an access door in addition to thegarage door? If not, Model 53702 Emergency KeyRelease is required. See Accessories page.

Look at the garage door where it meets the floor.Any gap between the floor and the bottom of thedoor must not exceed 1/4". Otherwise, the safetyreversal system may not work properly. SeeAdjustment Step 3. Floor or door should berepaired.

SECTIONAL DOOR INSTALLATIONS

Do you have a steel, aluminum, fiberglass or glasspanel door? If so, horizontal and vertical reinforce-ment is required (Installation Step 11).

The opener should be installed above the center ofthe door. If there is a torsion spring or centerbearing plate in the way of the header bracket, itmay be installed within 4 feet to the left or right ofthe door center. See Installation Steps 1 and 11.

• If your door is more than 7 feet high, see railextension kits listed on Accessories page.

• Generally, a one-piece door does not requirereinforcement. If your door is lightweight, refer tothe information relating to sectional doors inInstallation Step 11.

• Depending on your door's construction, you mayneed additional mounting hardware for the doorbracket (Step 11).

Without a properly working safety reversal system,persons (particularly small children) could beSERIOUSLYINJUREDor KILLEDby a closing garagedoor.

• The gap between the bottom of the garage door andthe floor MUST NOTexceedI14". Otherwise, the safetyreversal system may not work properly.

Your garage door opener is packaged in two cartonswhich contains the motor unit and the parts illustratedbelow. Note that accessories will depend on themodel purchased. If anything is missing, carefullycheck the packing material. Parts may be stuck in the

ASSEMBLY STEP 1

Assemble the Rail & Install the Trolley

To avoid installation difficulties, do not run thegarage door opener until instructed to do so.

The front rail has a cut out "window" at the door end(see illustration). The hole above this window islarger on the top of the rail than on the bottom. Asmaller hole 3-1/2" away is close to the rail edge.Rotate the back rail so it has a similar hole close tothe opposite edge, about 4-3/4" from the far end. A3-piece rail uses two back rails.

1. Remove the straight door arm and clevis pinpackaged inside the front rail and set aside forInstallation Step 12.

2. Align the rail sections on a fiat surface exactly asshown and slide the tapered ends into the largerones. Tabs along the side will lock into place.

. Place the motor unit on packing material to protectthe cover, and rest the back end of the rail on top.For convenience, put a support under the frontend of the rail.

As a temporary trolley stop, clamp a locking pliersonto the rail, 8" from the center of the idler pulleyhole, as shown.

5. Check to be sure there are 4 black plastic wearpads inside the inner trolley. If they became looseduring shipping, check all packing material. Snapthem back into position as shown.

6. Connect the inner and outer trolleys as shown.

7. Slide the trolley assembly along the rail from theback end to the locke(: pliers.

ASSEMBLY STEP 2

Fasten the Rail to the Motor Unit

• Insert a 1/4"-20xl-3/4 bolt into the cover protectionbolt hole on the back end of the rail as shown.Tighten securely with a 1/4"-20 lock nut.

• Remove the two screws from the top of the motorunit.

• Attach spreaders to the U bracket by snappingthem into place.

• Place the U bracket, flat side down, on the motorunit and align the bracket holes with the screwholes. Fasten with the previously removed screws.

• Align the rail assembly with the top of the motorunit. Slide the rail end onto the U-bracket, all theway to the stops that protrude on the top and sidesof the bracket.

Install the Idler Pulley

• Lay the chain/cable beside the rail, as shown.Grasp the end with the cable loop and passapproximately 12" of cable through the window.Allow it to hang until Assembly Step 5.

• Remove the tape from the idler pulley. The insidecenter should be pre-greased. If dry, regrease toensure proper operation.

• Place the idler pulley into the window as shown.

• Insert the idler bolt from the top through the railand pulley. Tighten with a 3/8" lock washer and nutunderneath the rail until the lock washer iscompressed.

• Rotate the pulley to be sure it spins freely.

• Insert a 1/4"-20xl-3/4 bolt into the trolley stop holein the front of the rail as shown. Tighten securelywith a 1/4"-20 lock nut.

ASSEMBLY STEP 4

Install the Chain/Cableand Attach the Sprocket Cover

1. Pull the cable around the idler pulley and towardthe trolley.

2. Connect the cable loop to the retaining slot on thetrolley, as shown:

• From below, push pins of master link bar upthrough cable loop and trolley slot.

• Push master link cap over pins and past pinnotches.

• Slide clip-on spring over cap and onto pinnotches until both pins are securely locked inplace.

3. With the trolley against the pliers, dispense theremainder of the cable/chain along the rail towardthe motor unit and around the sprocket. Thesprocket teeth must engage the chain.

4. Check to make sure the chain is not twisted, thenconnect it to the threaded shaft with theremaining master link.

5. Thread the inner nut and lock washer onto the thetrolley shaft.

6. Insert the trolley threaded shaft through the holein the trolley. Be sure the chain is not twisted.

7. Loosely thread the outer nut onto the trolley shaft.

To avoid possible serious injury to fingers from movinggaragedoor opener:• ALWAYSkeep hand clear of sprocket while operating

opener• Securelyattach sprocket cover BEFOREoperating.

8. Remove the locking pliers.

9. Align the tabs on the sprocket cover with the slotsin the mounting plate. Squeeze cover and inserttabs in slots.

Tighten the Chain

• Spin the inner nut and lock washer down thethreaded shaft, away from the trolley.

• To tighten the chain, turn outer nut in the directionshown (Figure 1).

• When the chain is approximately 1/2" above thebase of the rail at its midpoint, re-tighten the innernut to secure the adjustment.

Sprocket noise can result if chain is too loose.

When installation is complete, you may notice somechain droop with the door closed. This is normal. Ifthe chain returns to the position shown in Figure 2when the door is open, do not re-adjust the chain.

NOTE: During future maintenance, ALWAYS pull theemergency release handle to disconnect trolleybefore adjusting chain.

NOTE: You may notice loosening of chain afterAdjustment Step 3 (Test the Safety ReversalSystem). Check for proper tension and readjustchain if necessar_ Then repeat Adjustment Step 3.

You have now finished assembling your garagedoor opener. Please read the following warningsbefore proceeding to the installation section:

INSTALLATION

IMPORTANT INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS

To reduce the risk of severe injury or death:1. READAND FOLLOWALL INSTALLATIONWARNINGS

AND INSTRUCTIONS.

2. Install garage door opener only on properly balancedand lubricated garage door. An improperly balanceddoor may not reversewhen required and could result insevere injury or death.

3. All repairs to cables, spring assembliesand otherhardware MUST be made by a trained door systemstechnician before installing opener.

4. Disableall locks and remove all ropes connected togaragedoor before installing opener to avoidentanglement.

5. Install garage door opener 7 feet or more above floor.6. Mount emergency release handle6 feet above floor.7. NEVERconnect garagedoor opener to power source

until instructed to do so.

8. NEVERwear watches, rings or loose clothing whileinstalling or servicing opener. They could be caught ingarage door or opener mechanisms.

9. Install wall-mounted garagedoor control:• within sight of the garagedoor• out of reach of children at minimum height of 5 feet• awayfrom all moving parts of the door.

10. Place entrapment warning labelon wall next to garagedoor control.

11. Place manual release/safetyreverse test label in plainview on inside of garagedoor.

12. Upon completion of installation, test safety reversalsystem. Door MUST reverseon contact with a one-inch high object (or a 2x4 laid flat) on the floor.

Installation procedures vary according to garage doortypes. Follow the instructions which apply to yourdoor.

SECTIONAL DOORAND ONE-PIECE DOOR WITH TRACK

1. Close the door and mark the inside verticalcenterline of the garage door.

2. Extend the line onto the header wall above thedoor.

You can fasten the header bracket within 4 feetof the left or right of the door center only if atorsion spring or center bearing plate is in theway; or you can attach it to the ceiling (seepage 14) when clearance is minimal. (It may bemounted on the wall upside down if necessary,to gain approximately 1/2".)

If you need to install the header bracket on a 2x4(on wall or ceiling), use lag screws (not provided)to securely fasten the 2x4 to structural supports asshown here and on page 13.

3. Open your door to the highest point of travel asshown. Draw an intersecting horizontal line on theheader wall 2" above the high point. This heightwill provide travel clearance for the top edge of thedoor.

NOTE: Door clearance brackets are available forsectional doors when headroom clearance is lessthan 2". See accessory page 39.

ONE-PIECEDOORWITHOUTTRACK1. Close the door and mark the inside vertical

centerline of your garage door. Extend the lineonto the header wall above door, as shown.

If headroom clearance is minimal, you can installthe header bracket on the ceiling. See page 14.

If you need to install the header bracket on a 2x4(on wall or ceiling), use tag screws (not provided)to securely fasten the 2x4 to structural supportsas shown.

2. Open your door to the highest point of travel asshown. Measure the distance from the top of thedoor to the floor. Subtract the actual height of thedoor. Add 8" to the remainder. (See Example).

3. Close the door and draw an intersecting horizontalline on the header wall at the determined height.NOTE: If the total number of inches exceeds theheight available in your garage, use the maximumheight possible, or refer to page 14 for ceilinginstallation.

INSTALLATION STEP 2

Install the Header Bracket

You can attach the header bracket either to the wallabove the garage door, or to the ceiling. Follow theinstructions which will work best for your particularrequirements. Do not install the header bracketover drywall. If installing into masonry, useconcrete anchors (not provided).

• Center the bracket on the vertical centerline withthe bottom edge of the bracket on the horizontalline as shown (with the arrow pointing toward theceiling).

• Mark the vertical set of bracket holes. Drill 3/16"pilot holes and fasten the bracket securely to astructural support with the hardware provided.

• Extend the vertical centerline onto the ceiling asshown.

INSTALLATION STEP 3

Attach the Rail to the HeaderBracket

NOTE: (Optional) With an existing Craftsmaninstallation, you may re-use the old header bracketwith the two plastic spacers included in the hardwarebag. Place the spacers inside the bracket on eachside of the rail, as illustrated.

• Position the opener on the garage floor below theheader bracket. Use packing material as aprotective base. NOTE: If the door spring is in theway you'll need help. Have someone hold theopener securely on a temporary support to allowthe rail to clear the spring.

• Position the front rail end within the header bracketand join with a 5/16"x1-1/2" clevis pin as shown.

• Insert a ring fastener to secure.

INSTALLATION STEP 4

Position the Opener

Follow instructions which apply to your door type asillustrated.

SECTIONAL DOOR OR ONE-PIECE DOOR WITHTRACK

A 2x4 laid flat is convenient for setting an ideal door-to-rail distance.

• Raise the opener onto a stepladder. You wilt needhelp at this point if the ladder is not tall enough.

• Open the door all the way and place a 2x4 laid flaton the top section beneath the rail.

• If the top section or panel hits the trolley when youraise the door, pull down on the trolley release armto disconnect inner and outer sections. Slide theouter trolley toward the motor unit. The trolley canremain disconnected until Installation Step 12is completed.

To prevent damage to garagedoor, rest garage dooropener rail on 2x4 placed on top section of door.

Hang the Opener

Two representative installations are shown. Yoursmay be different. Hanging brackets should be angled(Figure 1) to provide rigid support. On finishedceilings (Figure 2), attach a sturdy metal bracket tostructural supports before installing the opener. Thisbracket and fastening hardware are not provided.(See Accessories.)

1. Measure the distance from each side of the motorunit to the structural support.

2. Cut both pieces of the hanging bracket to requiredlengths.

3. Drill 3/16" pilot holes in the structural supports.

4. Attach one end of each bracket to a support with5/16"-18xl-7/8" lag screws.

5. Fasten the opener to the hanging brackets with5/16"-18x7/8" hex screws, lock washers and nuts.

6. Check to make sure the rail is centered over thedoor (or in line with the header bracket if thebracket is not centered above the door).

7. Remove the 2x4. Operate the door manually. Ifthe door hits the rail, raise the header bracket.

INSTALLATION STEP 6Install the Premium Control Console

Locate door control within sight of door, at a minimumheight of 5 feet where small children cannot reach,away from moving parts of door and door hardware.If installing into drywall, drill 5/32" holes and use theanchors provided. For pre-wired installations (as in newhome construction), it may be mounted to a single gangbox (Figure 2).

1. Strip 1/4" of insulation from one end of bell wire andconnect to the two terminal screws on back of doorcontrol by color: white to 2 and white/red to 1.

2. Pry off cover along one side with a screwdriver blade(see Figure 1). Fasten with 6ABx1-1/4" self-tappingscrews (standard installation) or 6-32xl" machinescrews (into gang box) as follows:

• Install bottom screw, allowing 1//8" to protrudeabove wall surface.

• Position bottom of door control on screw head andslide down to secure. Adjust screw for snug fit.

• Drill and install top screw with care to avoidcracking plastic housing. Do not overtighten.

• Insert top tabs and snap on cover.

3. (For standard installation only) Run bell wire upwalt and across ceiling to motor unit. Use insulatedstaples to secure wire in several places. Be carefulnot to pierce wire with a staple, creating a short oropen circuit.

4. Connect the bell wire to the terminal screws on themotor unit panel: white to 2; white/red to 1.

5. Position the antenna wire as shown.

6. Use tacks or staples to permanently attachentrapment warning label to wall near door control,and manual release/safety reverse test label in aprominent location on inside of garage door.

DO NOT connect power and operate opener atthis time. The trolley will travel to the full openposition but will not return to the close positionuntil the sensor beam is connected and properlyaligned.

Attach the Emergency ReleaseRope and Handle

• Thread one end of the rope through the hole in thetop of the red handle so "NOTICE" reads right sideup as shown. Secure with an overhand knot atleast 1" from the end of the rope to preventslipping.

Electrical Requirements

To avoid installation difficulties, do not run theopener at this time.

To reduce the risk of electric shock, your garage dooropener has a grounding type plug with a thirdgrounding pin. This plug will only fit into a groundingtype outlet. If the plug doesn't fit into the outlet youhave, contact a qualified electrician to install theproper outlet.

If permanent wiring is required by your localcode, refer to the following procedure.

To make a permanent connection through the 7/8"hole in the top of the motor unit:• Remove the motor unit cover screws and set the

cover aside.

• Remove the attached 3-prong cord.

• Connect the black (line) wire to the screw on thebrass terminal; the white (neutral) wire to thescrew on the silver terminal; and the ground wireto the green ground screw. The opener must begrounded.

• Reinstall the cover.

Install The Safety Reversing Sensor

The safety reversing sensor must be connectedand aligned correctly before the garage dooropener will move in the down direction.

IMPORTANT INFORMATION ABOUTTHE SAFETY REVERSING SENSOR

When properly connected and aligned, the sensorwill detect an obstacle in the path of its electronicbeam. The sending eye (with an orange indicatorlight) transmits an invisible light beam to thereceiving eye (with a green indicator light). If anobstruction breaks the light beam while the door isclosing, the door will stop and reverse to full openposition, and the opener lights will flash 10 times.

The units must be installed inside the garage so thatthe sending and receiving eyes face each otheracross the door, no higher than 6" above the floor.Either can be installed on the left or right of the dooras long as the sun never shines directly into thereceiving eye lens.

The mounting brackets are designed to clip onto thetrack of sectional garage doors without additionalhardware.

• Be sure power is not connected to the garage dooropener BEFOREinstalling the safety reversing sensor.

• To prevent SERIOUSINJURY or DEATHfrom a closinggaragedoor:- Correctly connect and align the safety reversing

sensor. This required safety device MUST NOTbedisabled.

- Install the safety reversing sensor so beam is NOHIGHERthan 6" above garagefloor.

If it is necessary to mount the units on the wall, thebrackets must be securely fastened to a solidsurface such as the wall framing. Extension brackets(see accessories) are available if needed. Ifinstalling in masonry construction, add a piece ofwood at each location to avoid drilling extra holes inmasonry if repositioning is necessary.

The invisible light beam path must be unobstructed.No part of the garage door (or door tracks, springs,hinges, rollers or other hardware) may interrupt thebeam while the door is closing.

INSTALLING THE BRACKETS

Be sure power to the opener is disconnected.

Install and align the brackets so the sensors will faceeach other across the garage door, with the beam nohigher than 6" above the floor. They may be installedin one of three ways, as follows.

Garage door track installation (preferred):

• Slip the curved arms over the rounded edge ofeach door track, with the curved arms facing thedoor. Snap into place against the side of the track.It should lie flush, with the lip hugging the backedge of the track, as shown in Figure 1.

if your door track will not support the bracketsecurely, wall installation is recommended.

Wall installation:

• Place the bracket against the wall with curved armsfacing the door. Be sure there is enough clearancefor the sensor beam to be unobstructed.

• If additional depth is needed, an extension bracket(see Accessories) or wood blocks can be used.

• Use bracket mounting holes as a template to locateand drill (2) 3/16" diameter pilot holes on the wall ateach side of the door, no higher than 6" above thefloor.

• Attach brackets to wall with lag screws(not provided).

• if using extension brackets or wood blocks, adjustright and left assemblies to the same distance outfrom the mounting surface. Make sure all doorhardware obstructions are cleared.

Floor installation:

• Use wood blocks or extension brackets (seeAccessories) to elevate sensor brackets so thelenses will be no higher than 6" above the floor.

• Carefully measure and place right and leftassemblies at the same distance out from the wall.Be sure all door hardware obstructions are cleared.

• Fasten to the floor with concrete anchors as shown.

MOUNTING AND WIRING THE SAFETY SENSORS

• Slide a 1/4"-20xl/2" carriage bolt head into the sloton each sensor. Use wing nuts to fasten sensors tobrackets, with lenses pointing toward each otheracross the door. Be sure the lens is not obstructedby a bracket extension. See Figure 4.

• Finger tighten the wing nuts.

• Run the wires from both sensors to the opener. Useinsulated staples to secure wire to wall and ceiling.

• Strip 1/4" of insulation from each set of wires.Separate white and white/black wires sufficiently toconnect to the opener terminal screws: white to 2and white/black to 3.

ALIGNING THE SAFETY SENSORS

• Plug in the opener. The indicator lights in both thesending and receiving eyes will glow steadily ifwiring connections and alignment are correct.

The sending eye orange indicator light will glowregardless of alignment or obstruction. If the greenindicator light in the receiving eye is off, dim, orflickering (and the invisible light beam path is notobstructed), alignment is required.

• Loosen the sending eye wing nut and readjust,aiming directly at the receiving eye. Lock in place.

• Loosen the receiving eye wing nut and adjustsensor until it receives the sender's beam. Whenthe green indicator light glows steadily, tighten thewing nut.

TROUBLESHOOTING THE SAFETY SENSORS

1. If the sending eye indicator light does not glowsteadily after installation, check for:

• Electric power to the opener.• A short in the white or white/black wires. These

can occur at staples, or at screw terminalconnections.

• Incorrect wiring between sensors and opener.• A broken wire.

2. If the sending eye indicator light glows steadily butthe receiving eye indicator light doesn't:

• Check alignment.

• Check for an open wire to the receiving eye.

3. If the receiving eye indicator light is dim, realigneither sensor.

NOTE: When the invisible beam path is obstructedor misaligned while the door is closing, the door willreverse. If the door is already open, it will not close.The opener lights will flash 10 times. See page 21.

Fasten the Door Bracket

Follow instructions which apply to your door typeas illustrated below or on the following page.

A horizontal reinforcement brace should be longenough to be secured to two vertical supports. Avertical reinforcement brace should cover theheight of the top panel.

The illustration shows one piece of angle iron as thehorizontal brace. For the vertical brace, two pieces ofangle iron are used to create a "U"-shaped support(Figure 1). The best solution is to check with yourgarage door manufacturer for an opener installationdoor reinforcement kit.

NOTE: Many vertical brace installations provide fordirect attachment of the clevis pin and door arm. Inthis case you will not need the door bracket; proceedto Installation Step 12.

SECTIONAL DOORS

• Center the door bracket on the previously markedvertical centerline used for the header bracketinstallation. Note correct UP placement, asstamped inside the bracket (Figure 2).

• Position the bracket on the face of the door withinthe following limits:

A) The top edge of the bracket 2"-4" below the topedge of the door.

B) The top edge of the bracket directly below anystructural support across the top of the door.

To prevent damage to garage door, reinforce inside ofdoor with angle iron both vertically and horizontally.

Connect Door Arm to Trolley

Follow instructions which apply to your door type asillustrated below and on the following page.

SECTIONAL DOORS ONLY

• Make sure garage door is fully closed. Pull theemergency release handle to disconnect the outertrolley from the inner trolley. Slide the outer trolleyback (away from the pulley) for 8" minimum asshown in Figures 1, 2 and 3.

• Figure I:

- Fasten straight door arm section to outer trolleywith the 5/16"xl" clevis pin. Secure theconnection with a ring fastener.

- Fasten curved section to the door bracket in thesame way, using the 5/16"x1-1/4" clevis pin.

• Figure 2:

- Bring arm sections together. Find two pairs ofholes that tine up and join sections. Select holesas far apart as possible to increase door armrigidity.

• Figure 3, Hole alignment alternative:

- If holes in curved arm are above holes in straightarm, disconnect straight arm. Cut about 6" fromthe solid end. Reconnect to trolley with cut enddown as shown.

- Bring arm sections together.

- Find two pairs of holes that line up and join withscrews, tock washers and nuts.

• Pull the emergency release handle toward theopener at a 45° angle so that the trolley releasearm is horizontal. Proceed to Adjustment Step 1,page 28. Trolley will re-engage automatically whenopener is operated.

ALL ONE-PIECE DOORS

1.Assemble the door arm, Figure 4:

• Fasten the straight and curved door arm sectionstogether to the longest possible length (with a 2or 3 hole overlap).

• With the door closed, connect the straight doorarm section to the door bracket with the5/16"xl- 1/4" clevis pin.

• Secure with a ring fastener.

2. Adjustment procedures, Figure 5:

On one-piece doors, before connecting the doorarm to the trolley, the travel limits must beadjusted. Limit adjustment screws are located onthe left side panel as shown on page 28. Followadjustment procedures below.

• Open door adjustment: decrease UPtravel limit

- Turn the UP limit adjustment screw counter-clockwise 5 1/2 turns.

- Press the Door Control push button. The trolleywill travel to the fully open position.

- Manually raise the door to the open position(parallel to the floor), and lift the door arm tothe trolley. The arm should touch the trolley justin back of the door arm connector hole. ADJUSTMENT STEP 1

Adjust the UP and DOWN TravelLimits

Limit adjustment settings regulate the points at whichthe door will stop when moving up or down.

To operate the opener, press the Door Control pushbutton. Run the opener through a complete travelcycle.

• Does the door open and close completely?

• Does the door stay closed and not reverseunintentionally when fully closed?

If your door passes both of these tests, no limitadjustments are necessary unless the reversing testfails (see Adjustment Step 3, page 30).

Adjustment procedures are outlined below. Read theprocedures carefully before proceeding toAdjustment Step 2. Use a screwdriver to make limitadjustments. Run the opener through a completetravel cycle after each adjustment.

NOTE: Repeated operation of the opener duringadjustment procedures may cause the motor tooverheat and shut off. Simply wait 15 minutes andtry again.

NOTE: If anything interferes with the door's upwardtravel, it will stop. If anything interferes with thedoor's downward travel (including binding orunbalanced doors), it will reverse.

HOW AND WHEN TO ADJUST THE LIMITS

• If the door does not open completely but opensat least five feet:

Increase up travel. Turn the UP limit adjustmentscrew clockwise. One turn equals 2" of travel.

NOTE: To prevent the trolley from hitting the coverprotection bolt, keep a minimum distance of 2-4"between the trolley and the bolt.

• ff door does not open at least 5 feet:

Adjust the UP (open) force as explained inAdjustment Step 2.

• ff the door does not close completely:Increase down travel. Turn the down limitadjustment screw counterclockwise. One turnequals 2" of travel.

If door still won't close completely and the trolleybumps into the trolley stop bolt (see page 4 or 5),try lengthening the door arm (page 26) anddecreasing the down limit.

• If the opener reverses in fully closed position:Decrease down travel. Turn the down limitadjustment screw clockwise. One turn equals 2"of travel.

Without a properly installed safety reversal system,persons (particularly small children) could beSERIOUSLYINJUREDor KILLEDby a closing garagedoor.

• Incorrect adjustment of garage door travel limits willinterfere with proper operation of safety reversalsystem.

• If one control (force or travel limits) is adjusted, theother control may also needadjustment.

• After any adjustments are made, the safety reversalsystem MUST he tested. Door MUST reverseoncontact with one-inch high object (or 2x4 laid flat) onfloor.

To prevent damage to vehicles, besure fully open doorprovides adequate clearance.

ADJUSTMENT STEP 2

Adjust the Force

Force adjustment controls are located on the backpanel of the motor unit. Force adjustment settingsregulate the amount of power required to open andclose the door.

If the forces are set too light, door travel may beinterrupted by nuisance reversals in the downdirection and stops in the up direction. Weatherconditions can affect the door movement, sooccasional adjustment may be needed.

The maximum force adjustment range is about3/4 of a complete turn. Do not force controlsbeyond that point. Turn force adjustment controlswith a screwdriver.

NOTE: If anything interferes with the door's upwardtravel, it will stop. If anything interferes with thedoor's downward travel (including binding orunbalanced doors), it will reverse.


• Too much force on garagedoor will interfere withproper operation of safety reversal system,

HOW AND WHEN TO ADJUST THE FORCES

1. Test the DOWN (close) force

• Grasp the door bottom when the door is abouthalfway through DOWN (close) travel. The doorshould reverse. Reversal halfway through downtravel does not guarantee reversal on a one-inchobstruction. See Adjustment Step 3, page 30.If the door is hard to hold or doesn't reverse,DECREASE the DOWN (close) force by turningthe control counterclockwise. Make smalladjustments until the door reverses normally.After each adjustment, run the opener througha complete cycle.

• If the door reverses during the down (close)cycle and the opener lights aren't flashing,INCREASE DOWN (close) force by turning thecontrol clockwise. Make small adjustments untilthe door completes a close cycle. After eachadjustment, run the opener through a completetravel cycle. Do not increase the force beyondthe minimum amount required to close the door.

2. Test the UP (open) force

• Grasp the door bottom when the door is abouthalfway through UP (open) travel. The doorshould stop. If the door is hard to hold ordoesn't stop, DECREASE UP (open) force byturning the control counterclockwise. Make smalladjustments until the door stops easily andopens fully. After each adjustment, run theopener through a complete travel cycle.

• If the door doesn't open at least 5 feet,INCREASE UP (Open) force by turning thecontrol clockwise. Make small adjustments untildoor opens completely. Readjust the UP limit ifnecessary. After each adjustment, run theopener through a complete travel cycle.

• Operate the door in the down direction. The doormust reverse on striking the obstruction.

• If the door stops on the obstruction, it is nottraveling far enough in the down direction.Increase the DOWN limit by turning the DOWNlimit adjustment screw counterclockwise 1/4 turn.

NOTE: On a sectional door, make sure limitadjustments do not cause the trolley to movewithin 2-1/2" of the trolley stop bolt. If necessarylengthen straight door arm to maintain thisminimum distance.

• Repeat the test.• When the door reverses on the one-inch board,

remove the obstruction and run the opener through3 or 4 complete travel cycles to test adjustment.

Using Your Garage Door Opener

Your Security÷ opener and hand-held remote controlhave been factory-set to a matching code whichchanges with each use, randomly accessing over100 billion new codes. Your opener will operate withup to eight Security÷ remote controls and oneSecurity÷ Keytess Entry System. If you purchase anew remote, or if you wish to deactivate any remote,follow the instructions in the Programming section.

Activate your opener with any of the following:• The hand-held Remote Control: Hold the large

push button down until the door starts to move.• The wall-mounted Door Control." Hold the push

button down until the door starts to move.

• The Keyless Entry (See Accessories): If suppliedwith your garage door opener, it must beprogrammed before use. See Programming.

When the opener is activated (with the safetyreversing sensor correctly installed and aligned)

1. If open, the door will close. If closed, it will open.2. If closing, the door will reverse.

3. If opening, the door will stop.

4. If the door has been stopped in a partially openposition, it will close.

5. If obstructed while closing, the door will reverse. Ifthe obstruction interrupts the sensor beam, theopener light will blink for five seconds.

6. If obstructed while opening, the door wilt stop.7. If fully open, the door will not close when the beam

is broken. The sensor has no effect in the openingcycle.

If the sensor is not installed, or is misaligned, thedoor won't close from a hand-held remote. However,you can close the door with the Door Control, theOutdoor Key Switch, or Keytess Entry, if you activatethem until down travel is complete. If you releasethem too soon, the door will reverse.

The opener light will turn on under the followingconditions: when the opener is initially plugged in;when power is restored after interruption; when theopener is activated.

It wilt turn off automatically after 4-1/2 minutes orprovide constant light when the Light feature on thePremium Control Console is activated. Bulb size is75 watts maximum.

Security+ Light Feature: Light will also turn onwhen someone walks through the open garage door.With a Premium Control Console, this feature may beturned off as follows: With the opener light off, pressand hold the light button for 10 seconds, until thelight goes on and off again. To restore this feature,start with the opener light on, then press and hold thelight button for 10 seconds until the light goes off,then on again.

Having a Problem?

1. The opener doesn't operate from either the DoorControl or the remote control."

• Does the opener have electric power? Plug a lamp into theoutlet. If it doesn't light, check the fuse box or the circuitbreaker. (Some outlets are controlled by a wall switch.)

• Have you disabled all door locks? Review installationinstruction warnings on page 11.

• Is there a build-up of ice or snow under the door? The doormay be frozen to the ground. Remove any restriction.

• The garage door spring may be broken. Have it replaced.

• Repeated operation may have tripped the overloadprotector in the motor. Wait 15 minutes and try again.

2. Opener operates from the remote, but not from theDoor Control:

• Is the door control lit? If not, remove the bell wire from themotor unit terminals. Short the red and white terminals bytouching both terminals at the same time with a piece ofwire. If the opener runs, check for a faulty wire connectionat the door control, a short under the staples, or a brokenwire.

• Are the wiring connections correct? Review InstallationStep 6, page 18.

3. The door operates from the Door Control, but not fromthe remote control:

• Is the door push button flashing? If your model has theLock feature, make sure it is off.

• Program the opener to match the remote control code.(Refer to instructions on the motor unit panel.) Repeat withall remotes.

4. The remote control has short range:

• Change the location of the remote control in your car.

• Check to be sure the antenna on the side or back panel ofmotor unit extends fully downward.

• Some installations may have shorter range due to a metaldoor, foil backed insulation, or metal garage siding.(Antenna Extender Kit 41A3504)

5. Opener noise is disturbing in living quarters of home:

• If operational noise is a problem because of proximity ofthe opener to the living quarters, the Vibration Isolator Kit41A3263 can be installed. This kit was designed tominimize vibration to the house and is easy to install.

6. The garage door opens and closes by itself:

• Be sure that all remote control push buttons are off.• Remove the bell wire from the door control terminals and

operate from the remote only. If this solves the problem, thedoor control is faulty (replace), or there is an intermittent shorton the wire between the door control and the motor unit.

• Clear memory and re-program all remote controls.

7. The door doesn't open completely:• Is something obstructing the door? Is it out of balance, or

are the springs broken? Remove the obstruction or repairthe door.

• If the door is in good working order but new doesn't openall the way, increase the up force. See Adjustment Step 2.

• If the door opens at least 5 feet, the travel limits may needto be increased. One turn equals 2 inches of travel. SeeAdjustment Step 1.

Repeat the safety reverse test after the adjustment iscomplete.

8. The door stops but doesn't close completely:

• Review the travel limits adjustment procedures on page 28.

Repeat the safety reverse test after any adjustment of doorarm length, close force or down limit.

9. The door opens but won't close:

• If the opener light blinks, check the safety reversing sensor.See Installation Step 10.

• If the opener light doesn't blink and it is a new installation,check the down force. See Adjustment Step 2, page 29.For an existing installation, see below.

Repeat the safety reverse test after the adjustment is complete.

10. The door reverses for no apparent reason and openerlight doesn't blink:

• Is something obstructing the door? Pull the emergencyrelease handle. Operate the door manually. If it is unbalancedor binding, call a trained door systems technician.

• Clear any ice or snow from the garage floor area wherethe door closes.

• Review Adjustment Step 2 on page 29.• If door reverses in the fully closed position, decrease the

travel limits (Adjustment Step 1).Repeat safety reverse test after adjustments to force or travellimits. The need for occasional adjustment of the force andlimit settings is normal. Weather conditions in particular canaffect door travel

11. The door reverses for no apparent reason and openerlight blinks for 5 seconds after reversing:

• Check the safety reversing sensor. Remove any obstructionor align the receiving eye. See/nsta//alion Step 10.

12. The opener light doesn't turn on:

• Replace the light bulb5

(75 watts maximum). Use a standard neck garage door openerbulb if regular bulb burns out.

13. The opener lights don't turn off:

• Is the Light feature on? Turn it off.

14. The opener strains or maximum force is needed tooperate door:

• The door may be out of balance or the springs may bebroken. Close the door and use the emergency releasehandle to disconnect the trolley. Open and close the doormanually. A properly balanced door will stay in any point oftravel while being supported entirely by its springs. If itdoes not, disconnect the opener and call a trained doorsystems technician. Do not increase the force to operatethe opener.

15. The opener motor hums briefly, then won't work:• The garage door springs may be broken. See above.• If the problem occurs on the first operation of the opener,

door may be locked. Disable the door lock. If the chain wasremoved and reinstalled, the motor may be out of phase.Remove the chain; cycle the motor to the down position.Observe the drive sprocket. When it turns in a clockwisedirection and stops in the down position, reinstall the chain.

Repeat the safety reverse test after the adjustment iscomplete.

16. The opener won't operate due to powerfailure:• Use the emergency release handle to disconnect the

trolley. The door can be opened and closed manually.When power is restored, press the Door Control pushbutton and trolley will automatically reconnect (unlesstrolley is in lockout position.) See page 32.

• The Emergency Key Release accessory (for use ongarages with no service door) disconnects the trolley fromoutside the garage in case of power failure.

17. The chain droops or sags:

• It is normal for the chain to droop slightly in the closed doorposition. Use the emergency release to disconnect thetrolley. If the chain returns to normal height when the trolleyis disengaged and the door reverses on a one-inch board,no adjustments are needed (see page 11).

PROGRAMMING

Your garage door opener has already been programmed at the factory to operate with your hand-held remotecontrol. The door will open and close when you press the large push button.

Below are instructions for programming your opener to operate with additional Security+ remote controls.

To Add an Additional Hand-held Remote Control

The motor unit lights will blink once when the PIN hasbeen learned.

Test by pressing the new PIN, then press Enter. Thedoor should move.

To set a temporary PIN

You may authorize access by visitors or service peoplewith a temporary 4-digit PIN. After a programmednumber of hours or number of accesses, this temporaryPIN expires and will no longer open the door. It can beused to close the door even after it has expired. To seta temporary PIN:1. Press the four buttons for your personal entry PIN

(not the last temporary PIN), then press and hold thebutton.

The opener light will blink three times. Release thebutton.

Observe el punto donde la puerta hace contacto conel piso. El espacio entre la base de la puerta y el pisono debe exceder 0.625 cm (1/4 de pulgada). Si no esas[, se corre el riesgo de que el sistema de reversade emergencia no funcione correctamente. VeaAjustes, Paso 3. Va a ser necesario reparar ya sea elpiso o la puerta.

INSTALACI(_N CON UNA PUERTA SECCIONAL

MONTAJE, PASO 1

Monte el riel e instale el trole

No encienda ni use el abridor hasta que Ilegue al pasode la instalacibn correspondiente, de otra maneracorre el riesgo de complicar el proceso de instalacibn.

El riel delantero tiene una "ventana" cortada en el extremode la puerta (yea la ilustraci6n). El orificio que seencuentra arriba de esta ventana es m_s grande en laparte superior del riel queen la parte inferio_ Hay unorificio m_s peque_o que se encuentra a 8.75 cm (3-1/2pulg.) y est_ cerca de la orilla del rieL Gire el riel posteriorde manera que tenga un orificio similar cerca de la orillaopuesta, m#s o menos a 11.87 cm (4-3/4 pulg.) delextremo. Un riel de tres partes utiliza dos rieles posteriores

1. Quite el brazo recto de la puerta y el pasador dechaveta que viene empacado dentro del riel delantero yp6ngalo a un lado para usarlo en la Paso 12 de laInstalaci0n.

2. Alinee las secciones del riel sobre una superficie planaexactamente como se indica y luego deslice losextremos m_s peque_os dentro de los m_s grandes.Las pesta_as que se encuentran a Io largo de los ladosdel riel se van a ajustar en su lugar.

3, Coloque el motor sobre el material de empaque paraproteger la cubierta del mismo y apoye el extremoposterior del riel encima. Para que le resulte m_sc6modo, ponga algtin tipo de apoyo bajo el extremodelantero del rieL

4. Ponga en el riel una pinzas con seguro como topetemporal del trole a 20 cm (8 pulg.) del centro del orificiode la polea Ioca, como se indica en la ilustracibn.

5. Revise y cercibrese de que haya 4 cojinetes dedesgaste dentro del trole interno, estos cojinetes sonnegros y de pl_stico. Si los cojinetes se han soltadodurante el transporte, revise todo el material deempaque. Ponga los cojinetes de desgaste en su lugarcomo se indica.

6. Conecte los troles interno y externo como aparece en lailustracibn.

7. Deslice el trole a Io largo del riel desde el extremoposterior hacia las pinzas.

• Coloque un perno de 1/4-20xl-3/4 de pulg. dentro delorificio de la cubierta de protecci6n que se encuentra enel extremo posterior del riel, como se indica en lailustracibn. Apriete bien el pemo con con tuerca de1/4-20 de pulg.

• Quite los dos tornillo de ]a parte superior del motor.

• Coloque los desplegadores en la m6nsula en 'U'.Escuchar_ un chasquido cuando quedan en su lugar.

• Ponga la m6nsula en 'U' sobre el motor con el ladopiano hacia abajo y alinee los orificios de la m6nsulacon los orificios de los tornillos. Sujete con los tomillosque quit6 antes.

• Alinee el riel con la parte superior del motor. Deslice elextremo del riel en la m6nsula en 'U', hasta los topesque sobresalen en la parte superior y a los lados de lam6nsula.

Instale la polea Ioca

• Acomode la cadena o cable a un lado del riel. como seilustra. Tome el extremo del cable que tiene una lazaday pase aproximadamente 30 cm (12 pulg.) de cable atrav6s de la ventana. Deje el cable colgando hasta Ilegaral Paso 5 de Montaje.

• Retire la cinta de la polea Ioca. El interior del centro debeestar engrasado. Si se ha secado, vuelva a engrasarlopara asegurar que la operaci6n sea adecuada.

• Coloque la polea Ioca dentro de la ventana comoaparece en la ilustraci6n,

• Inserte el perno Ioco desde la parte superior y a travOsdel riel y la polea. Apriete con una roldana y una tuercade 3/8 de puig. por debajo del riel hasta que la roldanaquede comprimida.

• Haga girar la polea para cerciorarse de que da vueltalibremente.

• Pase un perno de 1/4-20xl-3/4 de pulg. por el orificio deparo del trole que se encuentra en la parte delantera delriel, como aparece en la ilustraci6n.Apriete bien con unatuerca de 1/4-20 de pulg.

Instale la cadena o cable y coloquela cubierta de la polea

1, Jale el cable alrededor de la polea Ioca y hacia el trole.

2, Conecte la lazada del cable a la ranura de retenci6n del

trole, como aparece en la ilustraci6n:

Paraevitar posibles lesiones graves en los dedos causadasperlas partes m6viles del abridor de puerta de coehera:

• SIEMPREtenga las rnanos lejos de la polea mientras estdfuncionando el abridor.

• Ponga la cubierta de la polea ANTESde hacer funcionarel abridor,

• Empuje los pemos de la barra de enlace maestrodesde abajo hacia arriba y p_seloe a trav6s de lalazada del cable y la ranura del trole.

• Empuje la tapa del enlace maestro sobre los pernos ylas ranuras de los pernos.

• Deslice el resorte de clip sobre la tapa y eobre lasranuras de los pernos hasta que los doe pemos est6nbien colocados y seguros en eu lugar.

3, Con el trole contra las pinzas, alimente el resto delcable o cadena a Io largo del riel, hacia el motor yalrededor de la polea. Los dientee de la polea debenengancharse en la cadena,

4, Revise para cerciorarse de que la cadena no est6torcida, luego con6ctela a la flecha roecada con elenlace maestro reetante,

5, Enrosque la tuerca interna y la roldana en la flecha deltrole,

6, Pase la flecha roscada del trole a trav6s del orificio quetiene el trole, Cerci6rese de que la cadena no est6tercida.

8. Quite las pinzas con seguro.

9. Alinee las pesta_as de la cubierta de la polea con lasranuras de la placa de montaje. Oprima la cubierta einserte las pestaffas en las ranuras.

Apriete la cadena

• Gire la tuerca interna y ajuste la roldana; baje ambas porla flecha roscada, alej_ndolas del trole.

• Para apretar ]a cadena, gire ]a tuerca externa en ladirecci6n que se indica en la Figura 1.

• Una vez que la cadena est6 aproximadamente 1.25 cm(1/2 pulg.) arriba de la base del riel en su punto medio,vuelva a apretar la tuerca interna para asegurar el ajuste.

Si la cadena queda demasiado floja la polea puede hacerruido.

Una vez terminada la instalaciOn, es posible que observeque la cadena cuelga un poco cuando la puerta est_cerrada, pero esto es normal. Si la cadena regresa a laposici6n que se ilustra en la Figura 2 cuando la puertaest_ abierta, no vuelva a ajustar la cadena.

NOTA: En el futuro, cuando le d6 mantenimientoSIEMPRE jale la manija de emergencia para desconectarel trole antes de ajustar la cadena.

NOTA: Es posible que la cadena se afloje despuOs delPaso 3 de Ajustes (Pruebe el Sistema de reversa deseguridad). Verifique que la tension sea la debida yreajuste la cadena si es necesario. Luego repita el Paso 3de Ajustes.

Ya termin6 de armar su abridor de puerta de cochera,por favor lea les siguientes advertencias antes decontinuar a la Secci6n de instalaci6n:

INSTALACION

INSTRUCCIONES MUY IMPORTANTES PARA LA INSTALACION

Para reducir el riesgo de una lesibn grave o la muerte:

1. LEAY SIGA AL PIE DELA LETRATODASLASINSTRUCCIONESPARALA INSTALACION.

2. Instale el abridor de puerta decochera solo si la puerta de lacochera est_ debidamenteequilibrada y lubrieada. Si la puertano esta debidamente equilibrada es posible que no retrocedecuando ast se requiere, Io que podria ocasionar una lesiongrave e incluso la muerte.

3. Todas las reparaciones de los cables, resortes y otras parteslas DEBEIlevar a cabo un tecnico especializado en sistemasde puertas, antes de instalar el abridor,

4. Desarmetodos los seguros y retire todas las cuerdasconectadasa la puerta de la cochera antes de instalar elabridor con el objeto deevitar que se enreden.

5. Instale el abridor de la puerta de cochera a una distancia de2.10 m (7 pies) del piso.

6. Monte la manija de liberaciOndeemergencia a una distanciade 1.80 m (6 pies) del piso.

1. Cierre la puerta y marque la linea central vertical delinteriorde la puerta.

2. Contint]e marcando esta linea hacia arriba hastaIlegar a la pared delantera, arriba de la puerta.

Es posible instalar la m_nsula del cabezal hasta auna distancia de maximo 1.20 m (4 pies) a cadalado del centro de la puerta, pero _nicamente siun resorte de torsibn o un place central de apoyose encuentra en el recorrido, Tambi6n cuando elespacio es reducido, se puede instalar la m6nsulaen el cielo raso o plafbn de la cochera (yea lapagina 14). (Asimismo, se puede instalar invertidasobre la pared si es necesario, esto le dar_aproximadamente 1.25 cm (1/2 pulg.) de espacio.)Si necesita instalar la mensula del cabezal en unpedazo de madera de 5x10 cm (2x4 pulg.) (ya seaen la pared o en el techo), use tornillos de cabezacuadrada o pijas (no se incluyen) para sujetar elpedazo de madera de 5x10 cm (2x4 pulg.) a lossoportes estructurales, como se indica aqui yen lapagina 13.

3. Abra la puerta hasta el punto mas alto de surecorrido como se muestra. Marque una lineahorizontal que intersecte en la pared delantera y a5 cm (2 pulg.) del punto m&s alto del recorrido. A estaaltura, el extremo superior de la puerta tendr&suficiente espacio para su recorrido.

NOTA: Existen tambi&n las m&nsulas de extensi6n parapuertas seccionales que requieran mDs de 5 cm(2 pulg.) de tolerancia. Vea la Secci6n de Accesoriosen la pDgina 37.

2. Abra la puerta hasta el punto mas alto del recorridocomo se muestra. Mida la distancia entre la partesuperior de la puerta y el piso, a esto restele laaltura real de la puerta, y al resultado semele 20 cm(8 pulg.). (Vea el ejemplo).

3. Cierre la puerta de la cochera y marque una lineahorizontal sobre la pared delantera a la altura que lehaya determinado mediante el cMculo anterior.NOTA: Si el n#mero total de centimetros excede laaltura disponible en su cochera, use la altura m#ximaposible, o consulte la p#gina 14 para la Instalaci6nen el cielo raao o plaf6n.

• Abra completamente la puerta de manera que quedeparalela con el piso, mida la distancia entre el piso yla parte superior de la puerta.

• Coloque el abridor a esta altura, utilizando unaescalera como apoyo.

• La parte superior de la puerta debe de estar alineadacon la parte superior de la unidad del motor. Noinstale el abridor a mas de 5 cm (2 pulg.) arriba deeste punto.

Cuelgue el abridor

Aqui se muestran dos ejemplos distintos para lainstalaci6n; sin embargo, es posible que su cochera noconcuerde con ninguno de ellos. Las m_nsulas desoporte deben de estar en angulo, Figura 1, para queproporcionen un soporte dgido. En caso de tener uncielo raso, Figura 2, instale una m_nsula de metalresistente en algt_n soporte de la estrucura antes deinstalar el abridor. No se incluye esta m_nsula ni latornilleda. (Vea Accesorios)

1. Mida la distancia entre cada lado de la unidad delmotor y el soporte de la estructura.

2. Corte las dos partes de las m6nsulas colgantes a lamedida adecuada.

3. Taladre los orificios de 3/16 de pulgada en lossoportes de la estructura.

4. Sujete un extremo de cada m_nsula al soporte contornillos de cabeza cuadrada o pijas de5/16 -18xl-7/8 pulgadas.

5. Sujete el abridor alas mensulas colgantes contornillos hexagonales de 5/16 -18x7/8 pulg., y sustuercas y roldanas correspondientes.

6. Verifique que el abridor est6 centrado sobre la puerta(o alineado con la m#nsula del cabezal, si lamensula no est& centrada sobre la puerta).

7. Quite el pedazo de madera de 5x10 cm (2x4 pulg.).Haga funcionar la puerta manualmente. Si la puertagolpea el riel, suba la mensula del cabezal.

NOTA: No conecte el abridor a la fuente de energiael_ctrica en este momento.

Instale la luce y lente

• Instale un foco de 75 vatios (maximo) en socket delabridor. Si este se encuentra conectado, la lucespermaneceran encendidas por aproximadamente 4minutos y medio, y se apagar&n por si solas.

• Aplique cierta presi6n a los lados de cada lente ydeslice las lengQetas en los paneles laterales. (Veala ilustraci6n).

• Para que le resulte m_s e6modo, la lente sepuede instalar despu6s de Ilevar a eabo el Paso 4de Ajustes que apareee en la pagina 30.

• Para quitadas, invierta el procedimiento. Tengacuidado de no desprender las lengQetas inferiores dela lente.

Coloque la cuerda y la manilade emergencia

• Pase un extremo de la cuerda a traves del orificioque se encuentra en la parte superior de la manijaroja de manera que la palabra "NOTICE" (aviso) sealegible, como se indica en la ilustraci6n. AsegQrelacon un nudo en un extremo de la cuerda por Iomenos a 2.5 cm (1 pulg) del extremo de la cuerdapara evitar que se resbale.

• Pase el otro extremo de la cuerda a trav_s del orificiodel brazo de liberaci6n del trole exterior.

• Ajuste el largo de la cuerda de tal manera que lamanija quede a seis pies del piso y haga un nudopara asegurarla.

NOTA: Si es necesario cortar la cuerda, queme con uncerillo o un encendedor el extremo que cort4 parasellarla y evitar que se desenrede.

Requisitos para la instalacibn el_ctrica

Para evitar dificultades con la instalacibn, noencienda ni use el abridor en este momento.

Para reducir el riesgo de choque el_ctdco, su abridor parapuerta de cochera viene con una clavija de conexi6n atierra de tres patas. Esta clavija s61ose puede conectar auna toma de corriente puesta a tierra y con tres entradas.Si la clavija no entra en la toma de corriente que ustedtiene, dirijase a un electdcista profesional para que leinstale la toma de corriente correcta.

Si la reglamentacibn local exige que su abridortenga cableado permanente, siga los siguientespasos.Para conectar el abridor a la corriente el_ctrica deforma permanente a traves del orificio de 2.19 cm(7/8 pulg.) Iocalizado en la parte superior del motor:

• Quite los tornillos de la tapa del abridor y deje lacubierta a un lado.

• Quite el cable de tres entradas.

• Conecte el cable (Ifnea) negro al tornillode laterminal de cobre, el cable blanco (neutral) al tornillode la terminal color plata, y el cable a tierra al tornilloverde de la puesta a tierra. El abridor debe de estarpuesto a tierra.

• Vuelva a poner la tapa en su lugar y atornille.

Paraevitar la posibilidad de una LESIONgrave e induso LAMUERTEpor electroeuciOno incendio:• Cerci6rese de que el abridor no est6 conectado a la energia

reversa de seguridad

El sensor del sistema de reversa de seguridad debeestar instalado y correctamente alineado, antes deque el abridor de la puerta de cochera mueva lapuerta hacia abajo. Este es an dispositivo deseguridad que no se puede desactivar.

INFORMACI(_N IMPORTANTE CON RESPECTOAL SENSOR DEL S|STEMA DE REVERSADE SEGURIDAD

Si se instala y se alinea correctamente, el sensor delsistema de reversa de seguridad detectara cualquierobst&culo que se cruce en el recorrido del rayoelectr6nico. El ojo emisor (el que tiene la luz indicadorade color anaranjado) envia un rayo electr6nico invisibleal ojo receptor (el que tiene la luz indicadora de colorverde). Si algQnobjeto obstruyera este rayo invisiblemientras la puerta se esta cerrando, la puerta sedetendra automaticamente, retroceder& hasta abrirse porcompleto, y la luz del abridor parpadeara diez veces.Estos sensores se deben de instalar en el interior de lacochera de manera que el ojo emisor y el ojo receptoresten uno frente al otro a ambos lados de la puerta y auna distancia m&xima de 15 cm (6 pulg.) del piso. Ambossensores se pueden instalar en cualquiera de los doslados de la puerta, ya sea el derecho o el izquierdo,siempre y cuando nunca le de el sol directamente a lalente del ojo receptor.Las m6nsulas para la instalaci6n han sido diseSadaspara que se sujeten directamenta al carril de la puerta,sin la necesidad de tomilleria ni piezas adicionales.

• Cerci6rese de que la energfaelectrica no esteconectada alabridor de la puer[a de la eoeheraANTESde Jnstalarelsensor del sJstemade reversa de seguridad,

• Paraevitar una LESIONGRAVEe incluso LA MUERTEcuando

la puerta de la eochera se est_ cerrando:- Conecte y altnee correctamente el sensor del sistema de

- Instale el sensor del sistema de reversa de segurJdademanera que el rayo NO EST£amas de 15 cm (6 pulg,) delpiso,

Si es necesario instalar las unidades sobre la pared,asegt_rese de que todos las m6nsulas est6n sujetas auna superficie s61ida, por ejemplo, uno de los soportesde la pared. Las m6nsulas de extensi6n estandisponibles, si se necesitan (vea la Secci6n deAccesorios). Siva a instalar los sensores sobre ladrilloo mamposteria, use un pedazo de madera para evitarhacer orificios innecesariossobre el ladrillo en caso quenecesite cambiados de lugar.

El trayecto del rayo elecr6nico invisibledebe de estarlibre de cualquier obstrucci6n. Ninguna de las partesde la puerta (los carriles, resortes, bisagras, rodillos, uotras piezas o tornilleria) debe interrumpir el rayocuando la puerta se este cerrando.

Asegt_rese de que el abridor no est_ conectado a lacorriente eldctrica.

Instale y alinee las m6nsulas de manera que lossensores est6n uno frente al otro en los lados opuestosde la puerta, a una distancia m#xima de 15 cm (6 pulg.)del piso. Instale las m6nsulas de acuerdo con una delas tres maneras siguientes:

Instalaci6n en el carril de la puerta de la cochera(recomendada):• Deslice los brazos curvos sobre la orilla redondeada

de cada uno de los carriles de la puerta, con losbrazos curvos apuntando hacia la puerta. Col6quelosen su posici6n contra el costado del carril. Debe dequedar parejo, con el reborde pegado a la orillaposterior del carril, como se ilustra en la Figura 1.

Si el cardl de su puerta no soporta la m_nsulafirmemente, se recomienda que la instale sobre la pared.

Instalaci6n en la pared:

• Coloque la m_nsula contra la pared con los brazoscurvos apuntando hacia la puerta. Cerci6rese de quehaya suficiente espacio para que el rayo del sensorno se tope con ninguna obstrucci6n.

• Si es necesario tener m&s profundidad, puede usarm_nsulas de extensi6n (vea Accesorios) o pedazosde madera.

• Use los orificios de montaje de la mensula paramarcar o taladrar (2) los dos orificios de 3/16 depulgada de di&metro a cada lado de la puerta a unadistancia m&xima de 15 cm (6 pulg.) del piso.

• Sujete la mensula a la pared con tomillos de cabezacuadrada o pijas (no se incluyen).

• Si est& usando m_nsulas de extensi6n o pedazos demadera por la falta de espacio, asegt_rese de que lasdos unidades queden a la misma distancia de lasuperficie de montaje. Asimismo, aseg6rese de queno haya ninguna obstrucci6n.

Instalaci6n en el piso:

• Use pedazos de madera o mensulas de extensi6n(vea Accesorios) para elevar las mensulas de lossensores de manera que las lentes queden a unadistancia m&xima de 15 cm (6 pulg.) de] piso.

• Cuidadosamente mida e instale las unidades derechae izquierda a la misma distancia con respecto a lapared. Aseg6rese de que no haya ningunaobstrucci6n.

• Sujete a] piso las m#nsulas para los sensores con lossujetadores para el piso, como se muestra enla ilustraci6n.

MONTAJE Y CABLEADO DE LOS SENSORES DELSISTEMA DE REVERSA DE SEGURIDAD

• Deslice la cabeza de un perno de coche de 14-20xl/2pulgada dentro de la ranura de los sensores. Use tuercasde mariposa para sujetar los sensores alas m6nsulas, conlas lentes de cada sensor frente a frente a ambos lades de

la puerta. Cerci6rese de que la extensi6n de la m6nsula noobstruya las lentes. Vea la Figura 4.

• Apriete las tuercas de mariposa a mano.

• Lleve los cables de los dos sensores al abridor. Utilicegrapas con aislamiento para sujetar el cable a la pared yal cielo raso,

• Pele 625 mm (1/4 pulg.) del aislamiento en cada juege decables. Separe los cables blanco y blanco y negro lesuficiente para poder conectados a los torninos terminalesdel abridor: el blanco al 2 y el blanco y negro al 3.

C0MO ALINEAR LOS SENSORES DE SEGURIDAD

• Conecte el abridor; las luces del sensor emisor y delsensor receptor se deben de encender y permanecerencendidas si todas las conexiones del cableado y laalineaci6n se han hecho correctamente,

La ]uz anaranjada del sensor que emite el rayo seencender_ aunque est6 obstruido o fuera de alineaci6n,pero si la luz verde del sensor receptor del rayo est_apagada, parpadea o se ve baja, (y no hay ningunaobstrucci6n en el recorrido del rayo de luz invisible) ser_necesario alinearlos.

• Afloje la tuerca de mariposa del sensor emisor y reajusteel sensor. Apunte directamente al otro sensor y apriete latuerca de mariposa.

• Afloje la tuerca de mariposa del sensor receptor del rayo,y reajuste hasta que reciba el rayo del sensor emiso[Una vez que la luz verde brille permanentemente, aprietela tuerca de mariposa.

DIAGN(3STICO DE FALLAS CON RESPECTO A LOSSENSORES DEL SISTEMA DE REVERSA DESEGURIDAD

1, Si la luz verde del sensor que emite el rayo no permaneceencendida despu6s de la instalaci6n, verifique Io siguiente:• El suministro de corriente el6ctrica al abridor.

• Que haya un corto circuito en alguno de los cables, yasea el bance, o el blance y negro. Esto ocurrefrecuentemente dende hay alguna grapa o en lasconexiones de las terminales roscadas.

• Algt_n error en la conexi6n de los cables de lossensores al abridor.

• Algt_n cable roto.

2. Si la luz indicadora del sensor que emite el rayo enciende ypermanece encendida, pero la luz del otto sensor no enciende:• Verifique que est6n correctamente alineados.

• Verifique que no haya un co[to en el cable del sensorreceptor.

3. Si la luz indicadora del sensor receptor esta d6bil o baja.veriflque la alineaci6n de los sensores.

NOTA: Si la trayectoria del rayo invisible seve obstruida oest4 fuera de alineaci6n, al tratar de cerrar la puerta 6sta seabrir4 autom4ticamente. Si la puerta est4 abierta,simplemente no se podr4 cerrar, y las luces de abridorparpadear4n diez veces. Vea la p4gina 21.

INSTALACI6N, PASO 11

Sujete la m_nsula de la puerta

Siga las instrucciones que correspondan al tipo depuerta de cochera que usted tenga, como se muestraen la ilustraci6n o en la pagina siguiente.Si usa un puntal horizontal, 6ste debe de ser Iosuficientemente largo para sujetarlo a dos soportesverticales. Si usa un puntal vertical, _ste debe de serde la altura del panel superior.La ilustraci6n muestra una pieza de hierro en angulocomo puntal horizontal. Para el puntal vertical se debenusar dos piezas de hierro en &ngulo con objeto de crearun soporte en "U" (Figura 1). La mejor soluci6n esponerse en contacto con la compaSia fabricante de lapuerta de su cochera e informarse acerca de los juegosde refuerzos de puertas para la instalaci6n de un abridor.NOTA: Muchas de las instalaciones con soporte opuntal vertical toman en cuenta la instalaciSn directa delos pasadores de chaveta y el brazo de la puerta. Eneste caso, no necesitar# instalar la m#nsula para lapuerta; proceda al Paso 12.

PUERTAS SECCIONALES

• Coloque la m_nsula para la puerta sobre la lineacentral vertical que habia marcado previamente parala instalaci6n de la m_nsula del cabezal. Asegt_resede que la leyenda "UP" (arriba) est_ en la posici6ncorrecta, como esta indicadoen la parte interior de lam_nsula (Figura 2).

• Coloque la m#nsula sobre la parte frontal de la puerta,dentro de los Iimites siguientes:A) El borde superior de la mensula 5-10 cm (2-4 pulg.)

debajo del borde superior de la puerta.

Paraevitar que la puerta de la cochera se daae, refuerce elinterior de la puerta con _ngulos de hierro tanto vertical comohorizontalmente.

• Marque y taladre dos orificios de 0.78 cm(5/16 de pulg.) para los sujetadores a la derecha ya la izquierda. Sujete la mensula al refuerzo vertical(si este existe), como se muestra en la Figura 1.

Si el tipo de instalaci6n de su cochera no requiererefuerzos verticales, pero si necesita los orificios paralos sujetadores de la m_nsula, taladre y sujete como semuestra en la Figura 2.

• Coloque la m@nsulade la puerta al centro de la partesuperior de la misma, alineada con la mensula delcabezal, segQn se indica en la ilustraci6n. Marque yasea los orificios derecho e izquierdo o superior einferior.

• Taladre los orificios piloto de 0.78 cm (5/16 pulg.) ysujete la m@nsulacon la tornilleria que se incluye.

Si la puerta no tiene un marco exterior expuesto,taladre dos orificios de 0.47 cm (3/16 pulg.) y sujete lamensula a la parte superior de la puerta con tornillos decabeza cuadrada de 5/16x1-1/2 pulg. (No se incluyen).

NOTA: La mensula para la puerta puede ser instaladasobre la orilla superior de la puerta si es necesario parasu instalaci6n en particular. Conecte el brazo de la puerta al trole

Siga las instrucciones que correspondan al tipo depuerta de cochera que usted tenga, como se muestraa continuaci6n yen las dos p&ginas siguientes.

S_LO PARA PUERTAS SECCIONALES

• Cerci6rese de que la puerta de la cochera estecompletamente cerrada. Jale la manija deemergencia para desconectar el trole exterior deltrole interior.Deslice el trole exterior hacia atr&s (endirecci6n opuesta a la polea) por Io menos 20 cm(8 pulg.) como se indica en las Figuras 1, 2 y 3.

• Figura 1:

- Sujete la secci6n recta del brazo de la puertaal trole exterior con un pasador de chaveta de5/16xl pulg. Asegure la conexi6n con el anillosujetador.

- Sujete la secci6n curva del brazo a la m_nsula dela puerta de la misma manera, con un pasador dechaveta de 5/16 por 1-1/4 pulg.

• Figura 2:

-Junte las dos secciones del braze, Iocalizando dospares de orificios que se puedan alinear.Seleccione dos orificios que est_n tan separadoscomo sea posible para aumentar la rigidez delbrazo de la puerta.

• Figura 3, Opciones para alinear los orificios:

- En caso de que los orificios del brazo curvo no sepuedan alinear con los oriflcios del brazo recto,desconecte el brazo recto y corteaproximadamente 15 cm (6 pulg.) del extremo queno tiene orificios. Vuelva a conectarlo al trole, conel extremo cortado hacia abajo, come se muestra.

-Junte las dos secciones de los brazos.

- Localice dos pares de orificios de ambas seccionesque se puedan alinear y Qnalos con tornillos,roldanas y tuercas.

• Jale la manija de emergencia hacia el abridor en unangulo de 45 grados, de manera que el brazo deliberaci6n del trole este en posici6n hodzontal.Proceda a la secci6n de Ajustes, Paso 1 en lapagina 28. El trole volver& a estar listoautom&ticamente, cuando se opere el abridor.

1. Arme el brazo de la puerta, Figura 4:

• Sujete las dos secciones del los brazos de la puerta(recto y curvo) a la mayor distancia posible, de(manera que dos o tres de los odficios sesobrepongan uno al otro).

• Cierre la puerta y sujete la secci6n recta del brazo ala mensula de la puerta con el pasador de chavetade 5/16x1-1/4 de pulgada.

• AsegQrelos con un anillo sujetador.

2. Procedimiento de ajuste, Figura 5:

Si tiene una puerta de una sola pieza, deber_ ajustarlos limites del recorrido antes de conectar el brazo dela puerta. Los tornillos de ajuste del limite derecorrido se encuentran en el panel del ladoizquierdo, como se muestra en la ilustraci6n queaparece en la p&gina 28. Siga el procedimiento deajuste que aparece a continuaci6n.

• Ajuste de la puerta al abrirla: disminuya el limitedel recorrido hacia arriba

-Ajuste el tornillo para ajustar el limite del recorridohacia arriba, d&ndole cinco y media vueltas hacia laizquierda (direcci6n opuesta alas manecillas delreloj).

- Oprima el bot6n de control de la puerta. El troledeber& ir hasta la posici6n completamente abierta.

-Abra la puerta manualmente de manera que esteparalela con el piso y suba el brazo de la puerta altrole. El brazo de la puerta debera de tocar el trolejusto en la parte posteriordel orificio conector.Consulte la ilustraci6n correspondiente al brazo dela puerta y al trole en su posici6ncompletamenteabierta. Si el brazo no se extiende Io suficiente,ajuste el limite del recorrido de la puerta; cadarevoluci6n del tornillo equivale a 5 cm (2 pulg.) delrecorrido del trole.

Consulte la ilustraci6ncorrespondiente al brazo de la puerta y al trole ensu posici6n completamente cerrada. Si el brazoqueda detras del orificio conector, ajuste el limitedel recorrido de la puerta; cada revoluci6n deltornillo equivale a 5 cm (2 pulg.) de recorrido deltrole.

& Conecte el brazo de la puerta al trole

• Cierre la puerta y sujete el brazo curvo al orificioconector del trole con el 61timopasador de chaveta.Es posible que necesite levantar un poco la puertamanualmente para poder hacer esta conexi6n.

• Asegure con un anillo sujetador.

• Opere el abridor durante un ciclo completo delrecorrido. Si la puerta parece estar en cierto &ngulo(hacia atr&s) cuando esta completamente abierta,asi como se muestra en la siguiente ilustraci6n,disminuya el limite del recorrido hacia arriba hastaque la puerta quede paralela al piso.

AJUSTES, PASO 1

A_uste el limite del recorrido haciaarriba y hacia aba_o

AI ajustar el limite del recorrido de la puerta, se regulahasta qu_ punto _sta se detendra al abrir y al cerrar.

Para poner en marcha el abridor, oprima el bot6n decontrol de la puerta. Haga funcionar el abridor duranteun ciclo competo del recorrido.• &La puerta se abre y se cierra completamente?

• &La puerta se mantiene cerrada y no retrocedeindebidamente cuando est& completamente cerrada?

Si su puerta pasa estas dos pruebas, no necesitar&hacer mas ajustes al limite del recorrido. Pero si nopasa la prueba de la reversa, tendr& que ajustar ellimite del recorddo. (Vea Ajustes, Paso 3 en lap_gina 30.)

El procedimiento de ajuste se explica a continuaci6n:Lea el procedimiento con cuidado antes de continuarcon el Paso 2 de la Secci6n de Ajustes. Use undesarmador para hacer los ajustes al limite delrecorrido. Despu6s de Ilevar a cabo un ajuste, hagafuncionar el abridor durante un ciclo completo delrecorrido,

NOTA: El abrir y cerrar la puerta varias veces duranteel procedimiento de ajuste puede causar que el abridorse sobrecaliente y al sobrecalentarse se apagar#.$51o espere quince minutos y continEte con los ajustesnecesarios.

NOTA: Si algo interfiere con el recorrido de la puertaen su trayectoria hacia arriba, _sta se detendr& Perosi algo la obstruye en su trayectoria hacia abajo(incluyendo un posible desnivel o desequilibro), estoactivar# la reversa y la puerta retroceder#.

C6MO Y CUANDO AJUSTAR LOS LiMITES

• Si la puerta no se abre completamente, pero abrepor Io menos 1.50 m (5 pies):Aumente el limite del recorrido hacia arribaD_ vuelta al tornillo de ajuste del limite hacia arriba,girandolo hacia la derecha (en el sentido de lasmanecillas del reloj). Cada revoluci6n del tomilloequivale a 5 cm (2 pulg.) del recorrido.

NOTA: Para evitar que el trole se golpee con el pemo dela cubierta de protecoiSn, mantenga una distancia minimade 5 a 10 cm (2 a 4 pulg.) entre el trole y el pemo.• Si la puerta no abre por Io menos 1.50 m (5 pies):

Ajuste la fuerza del movimiento hacia arriba de lapuerta (abierta), como se indica en el Paso 2 de lasecci6n de Ajustes.

• $i la puerta no cierra completamente:Aumente el limite del recorrido hacia abajo, de vueltaal tornillo de ajuste del limite del recorrido hacia laizquierda, (direcci6n opuesta alas manecillas delreloj); cada revoluci6n del tornillo equivale a 5 cm(2 pulg.) del recorrido.Si at_n despues de este ajuste la puerta contint_a sincerrar completamente y el trole choca con el pemode paro del trole (vea la pagina 4 6 5), alargue elbrazo de la puerta (pagina 26) y disminuya el limitedel recorrido hacia abajo.

Si el sistema de reversa de seguridad no se ha instaladodebidamente, las personas (y los nihos peque_os enparticular) podrian sutrir LESIONESGRAVESe incluso LAMUERTEcuando se cierra la puerta de la cochera.• El ajuste incorrecto de los limites del recorrido de la puerta

de la cochera habra de interferir con la operaci6n adecuadadel sistema de reversa de seguridad.

• Si se ajusta uno de los controles (limites de la fuerza o delrecorrido), es posible que sea necesario ajustar tambien elotro control,

• Despuds de Ilevar a cabo cualquier ajuste, SE DEBEprobar elsistema de reversa de seguridad. Lapuerta DEBEretrocederal entrar en contacto con un objeto de 2.5 cm (1 pulg) dealtura, o bien un pedazode madera de 5 x 10 cm (2 x 4)acostado enel piso.

Paraevitar que los vehiculos sufran daffos,cerci6rese de quecuando la puerta estdcompletamente abierta deje el espaciosuficiente.

Pruebe la puerta para verificar que no se doble ni sepandee. Jale la manija de liberaci6n de emergencia,y abra y cierre la puerta manualmente. Si la puerta sepandea, Ilame a un tecnico especializado en sistemasde puertas. Si la puerta no parece estar desniveladani se pandea, contindie con el ajuste de la fuerza delmovimiento hacia abajo de la puerta (cerrada), comose indica en el Paso 2 de de la secci6n de Ajustes.

Ajuste la fuerza

Los tornillos para el ajuste de la fuerza del abridor seencuentran en el panel posterior de la unidad del motonEstos ajustes controlar_n la fuerza que ser_ necesariapara abrir y cerrar la puerta.

Si la fuerza es muy d6bil, es posible que la puerta haga esosmolestos retrocesos al cerrarla (movimiento hacia abajo) yque se detenga al abrirla (movimiento hacia arriba). El climapuede afectar el movimiento de la puerta, asi que es posibleque tenga que hacer algunos ajustes ocasionalmente.

El m_ximo para los tornillos de ajuste de la fuerza es3/4 de una vuelta, no trate de forzar el tornillo mbs allbde este punto. Use un desarmador para hacer los ajustes.

NOTA: Si algo interfiere con el recorrido de la puerta en sutrayectoria hacia arriba, 6sta se detendr#. Pero si algo laobstruye en su trayectoria hacia abajo (incluyendo unposible desnivel o desequilibro), esto activar# la reversa yla puerta retroceder#.

C(_MO Y CUANDO AJUSTAR LA FUERZA DEL ABR|DOR

1. Pruebe la fuerza del recorrido hacia abajo (cerrar)

• Cierre la puerta manualmente agarr_ndola per la parteinferior y det6ngala m_s o menos a la mitad delrecorride HACIAABAJO (cerrar); la puerta deber_retreceder. Si la puerta retrocede a la mitad delrecorrido, esto no garantiza que la puerta retroceder# altoparse con una obstrucciSn de 2. 5 cm (1 pulg). Dirfjaseal Paso 3 de la seccidn de Ajustes, en la p#gina 30.Si es dificil sostener la puerta, o bien si la puertano retrocede, DISMINUYA la fuerza del movimientoHACIAABAJO (cerrar), con el tornillo de ajusted_ndole vuelta hacia la izquierda (direcci6n opuesta alas manecillas del reloj). Haga pequeSos ajustes hastaque la puerta entre en reversa correctamente.Despu6s de Ilevar a cabo un ajuste, haga funcionar elabridor durante un ciclo cempleto del recerrido.

• Si la puerta retrocede autombticamente en latrayectoria hacia abajo (cerrar), y la luz de abridorno est& parpadeando, AUMENTE la fuerza de latrayectoria hacia abajo (cerrar) con el terniflo de ajusted_ndole vuelta hacia la derecha (direcci6n de lasmanecillas del reloj). Haga pequeSos ajustes hasta quela puerta haga un ciclo complete y despu6s de ]levar acabo el ajuste, haga funcionar el abridor durante unciclo complete del recorrido. No aumente la fuerza m#sdel mfnimo necesario para cerrar la puerta.

2. Pruebe la fuerza del recorrido hacia arriba (abrir):

• Cierre la puerta manualmente agarr_ndola por la parteinferior y det6ngala m_s o menes a la mitad delrecerrido HACIAARRIBA (abrir); la puerta deber_detenerse. Si la puerta no se detiene o es dificilsostenerla, DISMINUYA la fuerza de la puerta HACIAARRIBA con el tomillo de ajuste, d_ndole vuelta hacia laizquierda (direcci6n opuesta alas manecillas del relej).Haga pequeSos ajustes hasta que la puerta haga unciclo completo. Despu6s de Ilevar a cabo el ajuste, hagafuncienar el abrider durante un cicle completo delrecorrido.

• Si la puerta no abre por Io menos 1.5 m (5 pies),AUMENTE la fuerza del RECORRIDO HACIAARRIBA(abrir) con el tornillo de ajuste, d_ndole vuelta hacia laderecha (direcci6n de las manecillas del reloj). HagapequeSos ajustes hasta que la puerta abracempletamente. Reajuste el limite del recorrido HACIAARRIBA si es necesario. Cdmo usar su abridor de puerta de cochera

Su abridor Security÷ y el control remoto manual han sidoprogramados en la f_brica con un c6digo coincidente quecambia cada vez que se usa, accesando al azar m_s de100,000 mi]lones de c6digos nuevos. Su abridor funcionar_con varios controles remotos Security÷, utilizando hasta 8funciones y un Sistema de entrada sin Ilave de Security÷.Si compra un control remoto nuevo, o si desea desactivaralgt]n control remoto, siga las instrucciones que aparecenen la secci6n sobre C6mo programar el abridor.

Active su abridor de alguna de las siguientes maneras:

• El Control remoto manual: Mantenga oprimido el bot6ngrande hasta que la puerta se empiece a mover.

• El Control de pared de la puerta: Mantenga oprimido elbot6n hasta que la puerta se empiece a mover.

• La Entrada sin Ilave (vea Accesorios): Si su abridor depuerta de cochera viene con este accesorio, deber_estar programado antes de usar]o. Vea C6mo programarel abridor.

Una vez activado el abridor (con el sensor de seguridadde reversa correctamente instalado y alineado)

1. Si la puerta est_ abierta se va a cerrar. Si la puerta est_cerrada se va a abrir.

2. Si la puerta se esta cerrando va a retroceder.

3. Si la puerta se est_ abriendo se va a detener.

4. Si la puerta se ha detenido en un punto parcialmenteabierta, se va a cerrar.

5. Si al cerrarse la puerta se top5 con alguna obstrucci6n,va a retroceder. Si ]a obstrucci6n interrumpe el rayo delsensor, la luz del abridor va a parpadear durante cincosegundos.

6. Sial abrirse la puerta se top6 con alguna obstrucci6n,se va a detener.

7. Si la puerta est_ completamente abierta, no va a cerrarsi el rayo est_ interrumpido. El sensor no tiene ningL_nefecto en el ciclo de apertura.

Si el sensor no se ha instalado o est_ desalineado, lapuerta no va a cerrar con el control remoto manual. Sinembargo, la puerta se puede cerrar con el Control de lapuerta, el Interruptor de la Ilave externa, o la Entrada sinIlave, siempre y cuando los active hasta que el recorridohacia abajo haya terminado. Si suelta demasiado pronto, lapuerta va a retroceder.

La luz del abridor se va a encender en los siguientescasos: siempre que conecte el abridor inicialmente; cuandose restaura el suministro de energia despu6s de unainterrupci6n; cuando el abridor se activa.

La luz se apaga autom_ticamente despu6s de cuatrominutos y medio, o se queda encendida cuando se activaLuz en la Consola de control Premium. Los focos debenser de 75 vatios m_ximo.

La caracteristica de la luz del Security÷: La ]uz se va aencender tambiOn si alguien camina por la puerta de lacochera cuando est_ abierta. Si tiene la Consola de controlPremium, esto puede desactivarse como sigue: Con la luzdel abridor apagada, oprima y mantenga oprimido el botSnde la luz durante 10 segundos hasta que la luz seencienda y se apague de nuevo. Para volver a activareeto, empiece el procedimiento con la luz encendida, luegooptima y mantenga oprimido el botOn de la luz durante 10segundos hasta que la luz se apague y luego se enciendade nuevo.

Esta funci6n est_ diseSada para evitar la operaci6n de lapuerta con los controles remotos manuales. No obstante, lapuerta se puede abrir y cerrar con los siguientesaccesorios: el Control de la puerta, el Interruptor de la Ilaveexterna, y la Entrada sin Ilave.

Para activar esta funci6n oprima y mantenga oprimido elbot6n del segure (Lock) por dos segundos. La luz del botbnva a parpadear mientras est6 activado el seguro.

Para desactivar la funci6n, oprima y mantenga oprimido elbot6n del seguro por dos segundos. La luz del botbn dejar_de parpadear. La funcibn del seguro tambi6n se apagasiempre que el bot6n SRT (Receptor / TransmisorInteligente) del panel del motor est6 activado.

Si tiene algun problema

1. El abridor no funciona con el control de la puerta ni con elcontrol remoto:

• _Esta el abridor conectado ala electricidad? Conecte una I_mparaala toma de corriente. Si no se enciende, revise la caja de fusibleso el cortacircuito. (AIgunas tomas de corriente se controlan con uninterruptor de pared).

• &Ha desactivado todas los seguros de las puertas? Revise lasadvertencias de las instrucciones de instalacidn que aparecen en lap&gina 11.

• &Hay nieve o hielo acumulado debajo de la puerta? La puertapuede congelarse y quedarse pegada al piso. Elimine estarestricci6n.

• El resorte de la puerta de cochera puede estar roto. Haga que Iocambien.

• Es posible que las repetidas operaciones hayan disparado elprotector de sobrecarga del motor. Espere 15 minutos y vuelva aintentar.

2. El abridor opera con el control remoto, pero no funciona con elcontrol de la puerta:

• &Esta iluminado el control? Si no es asi, quite el alambre del timbrede las terminales de la unidad del motor. Ponga en corto lasterminales roja y blanca tocando con un pedazo de alambre ambasterminales al mismo tiempo. Si el abridor funciona, revise si hayalguna mala conexidn en Io alambres del control de la puerta, uncorto bajo las grapas, o alg6n alambre roto.

• &Las conexiones del cableado son correctas? Revise el Paso 6 dela secci6n de Instalaci6n en ]a p_gina 18.

3. La puerta funciona con el control de la puerta, pero no funcionacon el control remoto:

• _.Esta parpadeando el bot6n de la puerta? Si el modelo de suabrider tiene la funci6n de seguro (Lock), cercidrese de que est6apagada.

• Programe el abridor para que coincida con el c6digo del controlremoto. (Consulte las instrucciones que se encoentran en el paneldel motor). Repita esto con todos los controles remotos.

4. El control remoto tiene cotto alcance:

• Cambie la ubicaci6n del control remote en su coche.

• Revise y cerci6rese de que la antena que se encaentra a un lade oen el panel posterior de la unidad del motor se extienda hacia abajocompletamente.

• Algunas instalaciones pueden tener menor alcance si las puertasson de metal, tienen aislamiento, o el recubrimiento extemo de lacochera es de metal. (Estuche de extensidn de antena 41A3504).

5. El ruide que hace el abridor moleete en la$ hebitacienes de lecase:

• Si el ruido de la operacidn del abfidor es un problema porque lashabitaciones de la casa est6n muy cerca, se puede instalar unAislador de la vibraci6n 41A3263. Este accesorio esta diseSadopara minimizar la vibraci6n en la casa y es f_cil de instalar.

6. La puerta de la cochera se abre y se cierra pot si misma:

• Aseg_rese que todos los botones del control remote est_n apagados.

• Quite el alambre del timbre de las terminales del control de lapuerta y haga funcionar la puerta solamente con el control remote.Si esto resuelve el problem& el control de la puerta tiene algunafalla (cambielo), o hay alg_n corto intermitente en el alambre entreel control de la puerta y la unidad del motor.

• Limpie la memoda y vuelva a programar todos los controles remotos.

7. La puerta no hable completamente:

• _.Hay algo que est6 obstruyendo la puerta? _.Esta desequilibrada, olos resortes estan rotos? Elimine la obstruccidn o repare la puerta.

• Si la puerta esta en buenas condiciones pero no abre completamente,aumente la fuerza hacia arriba. Vea Ajustes, Paso 2.

• Si la puerta abre por Io menos cinco pies, es posible que se tenganque aumentar los I{mites del recorrido. Una vuelta equivale a 5 cm(2 pulg.) del recerfido. Vea Ajustes, Paso 1.

Repita la prueba de segutidad de reversa despuea de terminar el ajuste.

8. La puerta se detiene pero no cierra completamente:

• Revise los procedimientos de ajuste de los I{mites del recorrido queaparecen en la p_gina 28.

Repita la prueba de seguridad de reversa despu6s de realizercualquier ajuste al largo del brazo de la puerta, ala fuerza o al limitehacia abajo.

& La puerta se abre pero no se cierra:

• Si la luz del abridor parpadea, revise el sensor de seguddad dereversa. Vea la secci6n de InstalaciSn, Paso 10.

• Si la luz del abridor no parpadea y setrata de una instalaci6nnueva, revise la fuerza hacia abajo. Vea la secci6n deAjustes,Paso 2que aparece en la pagina 29. Si setrata de una instalaci6nya existente, vea a continuaci6n.

Repita la prueba de seguridad de reverse despues de terminarel ajuste.

16. La puerta retrocede sin raz6n aparente y la luz del abridorno parpadea:

• &Hay algo que est6 obstruyendo la puerta? Jale la manija deliberaci6n de emergencia. Opere la puerta manualmente. Si est_desequilibrada o se pandea, Ilame a un t6cnico especializado ensistemas de puertas.

• Limpie el piso de la cochera si tiene hielo o nieve en el puntodonde la puerta cierra.

• Revise Ajustes. Paso 2 en la p_gina 29.

• Si la puerta retrocede ala posicidn completamente cerrada,disminuya los limites de recorrido (Ajustes, Paso I).

Repita la prueba de seguridad de reverse despues de hacer losajustes ala fuerza o a los Ifmites del recorrido. La necesidad de unajuste ocasional de la fuerza y del limite es normal Las condicionesclimatol&gicas en particular pueden afectar el recorrido de la puerta.

11. La puerta retrocede sin raz6n aparente y la luz del abddorparpadea por cinco segundos deepu_s de que retrocede:

• Revise el sensor de reversa de seguridad. Quite cualquierobstrucci6n o alinee el ojo receptor. Vea la secci6n de Instalaci6n,Paso 10.

12. La luz del abridor no se enciende:

• Cambie los feces (de 75 vatios maximo). Use un foco estandarpara puerta de cochera, si el foco se funde.

13. La luz del abrider no seepaga:

• _,Est_ activada la funci6n de luz? Si es asi, ap&guela.

14. El abridor necesita la maxima fuerza pare eperar la puerta:

• La puerta podria estar desequilibrada, o los resortes podrianestar rotos. Cierre la puerta y use la manija de liberaci6n deemergencia para desconectar el trole. Abra y cierre la puertamanualmente. Si la puerta est_ bien equilibrada se sostiene encualquier punto del recorrido con s61o el soporte de sus resortes.Si esto no ocurre, desconecte el abridor y llama a un t6cnicoespecializado en sistemas de puertas. No aumenta la fuerzapara operar el abridor.

15. El motor hace un ruido brevemente pero luego no funciona

• Los resortes de la puerta de cochera podrfan estar rotes. Vea losp&rrafos anteriores.

• Si el problema se presenta la primera vez que opera el abddor,puede ser que la puerta est_ con seguro. Quite el seguro de lapuerta. Si ha quitado la cadena y la ha vuelto a instalar, el motorpodria estas desfasado. Quite la cadena; corra el ciclo del motorhasta la posici6n hacia abajo. Observe la polea o rueda dentada, sigira ala derecha, es decir en el sentido de las manecillas del reloj,y se detiene en la posici6n hacia abajo, vuelva a instalar la cadena.

16. El abridor no funciona debido a una falla en el suministrode energ[a

• Use la manija de liberaci6n de emergencia para desconectar eltrole. La puerta se puede abrir y cerrar manualmente. Cuando serestaure el suministro de energia, oprima el bot6n de control de lapuerta y el trole se vuelve a conectar autom_ticamente (a menosque est6 con seguro). Vea la p&gina 32.

• El accesorio Uave de liberaci6n de emergencia (que se usasolamente en las cocheras que no tienen una puerta de servicio)desconecta el trole desde afuera de la cochera en caso de unafalla en el suministro de energia.

17. Si la cadena se cuelga o se afloja:

• Es normal que la cadena cuelgue un poco cuando la puerta estacerrada. Use la liberaci6n de emergencia para desconectar el trole.Si la cadena vuelve a su altura normal cuando el trole est&desconectado y la puerta retrocede al toparse con un pedazo demadera de 2.5 cm (1 pulg.), no es necesarie efectuar ning6najuste. (Vea la p&gina 11).

COMO PROGRAMAR EL ABRIDOR

Su abridor de puerta de cochera ya viene programado de f_brica para operar con su control remoto manual. La puerta seabrir_ y se cerrar_ cuando oprima el bot6n grande.

A continuaci6n aparecen las instrucciones para programar su abridor para que opere con controles remotosSecurity÷ adicionales.

Cbmo agregar un control remoto manual adicional

COMO USAR EL BOT6N "APRENDER" (LEARN) COMO USAR LA CONSOLA DE CONTROL PREMIUM

1. Oprima y suelte el bot6n "Aprender"de la unidad del motor. La luzindicadora de este bot6n estar&

encendida por 30 segundos.

2. En 30 segundos, oprima ymantenga oprimido el bot6n delcontrol remoto manual* que deseeusar para su puerta de cochera.

3. Suelte el bot6n cuando las luces de

la unidad del motor empiecen aparpadear. Ya aprendi6 el c6digo.Si no se han puesto focos, seescuchar_n dos chasquidos.

1. Oprima y mantenga orimido elbot6n delcontrolremotomanual*

que desee usar para la puerta desu cochera.

2. Mientras mantiene oprimido elbot6n del control remoto, oprima ymantenga oprimido el bot6n LUZ(LIGHT) de la Consola de ControlPremium.

3. ContinL)e oprimiendo los dosbotones mientras oprime tambi6n labarra de la Consola de Control

Premium (con los tres botonesoprimidos).

4. Suelte los botones cuando las luces

Para borrar todos los cOdigos de lamemoria de la unidad del motor

Para desactivar cualquier control remotoque no desee usar, antes que nada borretodos los c6digos:Oprima y mantenga oprimido el bot6n"Aprender" de la unidad del motor, hastaque la luz del indicador de "Aprender" se apague(aproximadamente 6 segundos). Ya estar_n borrados todoslos c6digos anteriores. Vuelva a programar cada uno delos controles remotos o la entrada sin nave que desee usar.

*Controles remotos de 3 funciones

Si su abridor de puerta de cochera tiene un bot6n grande.su operaci6n ha sido programada en la f_brica. Los botonesadicionales de cualquiercontrol remoto de 3 funcione_

Security÷. o de un minicontrol remoto puedenprogramarse para operarotros abridores de puerta decochera Security÷.

Para poner o cambiar el PIN de la Entrada sin Ilaves

Nora: Su nueva Entrada sin Ilave debe programarse para que opere el abridor de la puerta de su cochera.

COMO USAR EL BOT_N "APRENDER" (LEARN) COMO USAR LA CONSOLA DE CONTROL PREMIUM

1. Oprima y suelte el bot6n "Aprender"de la unidad del motor. La luzindicadora de este bot6n estar_encendida por 30 segundos.

Para cambiar un PIN existente

Si el PIN existente ya es conocido, una persona Io puedecambiar sin usar una escalera.

1. Oprima los cuatro botones que correspondan al PINactual, luego oprima y mantenga eprimido el bot6n #.

La luz del abridor parpadear_ dos veces. Suelte elbot6n #.

2. Oprima el nuevo PIN de cuatro digitos y luego oprimaEnter.

Las luces de la unidad del motor van a parpadear una vezcuande el PIN se haya aprendido.

Pruebe oprimiendo el nuevo PIN, luego oprima Enter.La puerta debe moverse.

Para poner un PIN temporal

Usted puede autorizar el acceso a sus visitas o a personalde servicio con un PIN temporal de cuatro digitos.Despu6s de un determinado nemero de horasprogramadas, o n6mero de accesos, este PIN temporalexpira y no vuelve a abrir la puerta. Se puede usar paracerrar la puerta a6n despu6s de que haya expirado. HagaIo siguiente para poner un PIN temporal:

1. Oprima los cuatro botones correspondientes a su PINde entrada personal (no el eltimo PIN temporal); luegeoprima y mantenga eprimido el bot6n _.

La luz del abridor va a parpadear tres veces. Suelte elbot6n.

Nora: Este m6todo requiere dos personas si la Entradasin Ilaves ya estb montada afuera de la cochera.

1. Elngrese un n6mero de identificaci6npersonal (PIN) que haya elegide,usando el teclade. Luege oprima ymantenga eprimido el bet6n ENTER.

2. Mientras mantiene oprimido el bot6nENTER, oprima y mantenga oprimidoel bot6n de la luz (LIGHT) de laConsola de Control Premium.

3. ContinQe oprimiendo los dosbotones, ENTER y LIGHT, mientrasoprime tambi6n la barra de laCensola de Control Premium
