A vector is any quantity that has magnitude (size) and direction.

A vector is used to describe translations.

Vectors can be written as an ordered pair

<2,-3>

These are the components of the vector. 2 is the x component and -3 is the y component.

To find the magnitude of the vector use pythagorean theorem. √(22 + (-32 ))

To find the x component take the cosine of the angle formed from the vector and the x-axis and multiply it by the magnitude.

To find the y component take the sine of the angle formed from the vector and the x-axis and multiply it by the magnitude.
