D I R E C T O R SHERWOOD GOOZEE Directed by Sherwood Goozee, who has
been busy since his graduation from the U n i versity of the Pacific, acting and serving as a stage manager. M r . Goozee, while i n the navy, initiated the Hi l l top Playhouse on the island of Guam; on. Broadway, he acted i n A Thurber Carnival, stage managing credits i n clude three seasons of summer musical stock i n New York and a season w i t h the H y a t t Music Theater. M a r r i e d to Priscilla Morrow, an actress he met when both were playing summer stock and w i t h two s m c i l l children, he chose four years ago to leave the professional theatre i n favor of seeing his family more often. M r . Goozee, who is now teaching i n the San Jose school system, spends his summers working i n theatrical productions.
THE WEST VALLEY LIGHT OPERA ASSOCIATION The object of the Association is to promote cultural activity in the area and to provide opportunities for drama students and others who have dramatic aspirations to take part i n theatrical productions under the guidance of professional directors. West Valley Light Opera is fortunate to have secured the services of Mr . Sherwood Goozee as Director. His picture and past accomplishments appear elsewhere i n the program. I t was under his skillful direction that our first show of this season, "Oliver", was produced. We sincerely hope that you enjoy our shows. Should you feel inclined to become a member, our representative w i l l be happy to explain the advantages of membership.
THE OVERTURES One unique feature of this Association for players is that we operate the entire year. To accomplish this, a group was formed from among our membership. This group is called T H E OVERTURES. They consist of six males and six female singers, two pianists, a Director-Choreographer and a Lighting Director. The OVERTURES jjrovide a training ground for stage presence and experience to newcomers to our group, a pool of talents for our productions, and maintain interest on the part of our players between shows. They are available at reasonable rates to perform for business, civic and fraternal organizations. For information please write to the Association or telephone 243-5353 or 356-6410.
WOMEN'S AUXILIARY The most recent group to be organized in association with the West Valley Light Opera is the Ladies Auxil iary. The pr imaiy purpose of this group is to raise funds by projects and social activities to aid the Association. Membership in the Auxil iary is open to al l interested ladies and dues are $3.00 per year. Additional information may be obtained by calling either U N 7-9242 or 243-5353.
ACKNOWLEDGEMENT TO MACY'S, VALLEY FAIR We wish to take this opportunity to express our gratitude to Macy's Valley Fair for their generosity in so many departments. The production of "Here's Love" has surely benefited by their interest and cooperation.
