TRANSCRIPT

Welcome...

At Tiffi n University, our students endeavour to excel in both the classroom and the athletic arena. Our athletic pro-grams have enjoyed tremendous success in recent years with conference championships, teams being nationally ranked and challenging at national tournaments. There have been numerous individual ac-colades including All-Americans, and it is no small accomplishment that in the past few years we have set new standards of excellence with our individual and team academic achievements. We expect our student-athletes to be just as successful in the classroom. A recent self study con-ducted by the university indicated that, of all the athletes who completed their eligibility at Tiffi n Uni-versity in the last fi ve years, 95% of those athletes graduated. While many colleges would be ecstatic with these results, we will never be content until it is 100%. We are proud of our rich history and look forward to setting new milestones as we enter the NCAA Division II playing fi eld and the highly competitive Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference. We are proud of our athletes and what they have accomplished. They have been the force behind the winning tradition that has been established, and I am confi dent the future will also be highly successful for Tiffi n University athletics.

2011 Season Preview

Paula Fantini enters her second year as Head Women’s Soccer Coach at Tiffi n University.

Fantini, a native of Brazil, was named GLIAC South Coach of the Year last year after leading the Dragons to a fi rst place fi nish and NCAA postseason berth with a 12-6-2 overall record. This marks the second time in three years that the Lady Dragons have qualifi ed for the NCAA National Tournament.

A former women’s soccer star at Union College (KY), Paula Fantini joined the Lincoln Memorial coaching staff in 2007 after obtaining a double major in physical education and sports management, minors in health and general business and a master’s in health and physical education.

While serving as assistant for both the men’s and women’s soccer programs at Lincoln Memorial, the teams both had winning records. The men’s team

fi nished second in the South Atlantic Conference last year with a 10-5-1 record and record of 21-12-3 during Fantini’s tenure. The women’s team went 18-14-4 overall during that same stretch. In 2007 both the men’s and women’s teams at LMU won the SAC regular season and tournament championships. The men’s squad fi nished as NCAA National Runner-up, winning the Appalachian Region Championship while the women reached the Southeast Region Semifi nals.

As a student-athlete, Fantini excelled on and off the fi eld. She was a Dean’s List honoree every semester at Union, and was a three-time Academic all-conference honoree, as well as a two-time All-American Scholar Athlete. She was named All-Conference and All-Region three times, and was named All-American twice. She ranks fourth in career points in Union’s history.

Fantini has a strong coaching background in both club soccer (Impact USA Nike) and in college soccer (University of Campinas).

Melissa Bigg enters her fi rst year assisting with the Dragons. A native of Canada, she comes to Tiffi n University after working as a certifi ed ACE personal trainer in a Cincinnati sports club. Before working she pursued her academic and soccer career at the University of Cincinnati, where she played all 65 games as a midfi elder in her four years and was named captain in her senior season. She also has experience playing in the W-League between 2006 & 2009, and winning a Canadian Club National Championship in 2005. She graduated in June of 2010 with a Bachelor’s of Science in Health Promotion Exercise and Fitness and is currently pursuing a Master’s of Business in Sports Management.

ParadisoAthletic Complex

Tiffi n University enjoys playing its home games at the Paradiso Athletic Com-plex. One of many attractive new facilities on display, the Paradiso Athletic Complex is

one of the top soccer fi elds in the area. With warmup fi elds, a large outfi eld electronic scoreboard, a developing press box area, and team dugouts, the fi eld offers the Tiffi n University soccer teams a great place to call home. The fi eld is just 1.5 miles from the Tiffi n Uni-versity campus and resides on 78 acres of land that also house all the outdoor athlet-ics teams at TU.

The Paradiso Athletic Complex debuted in the fall of 1997. Also included are two softball fi elds, Heminger fi eld, two football practice fi elds, a Nature Preserve, and a developing outdoor track and fi eld facility. Another new addition to the fi elds is the Athletic Fieldhouse. In addition, there is expanded parking accomodating hundreds of vehicles. An indoor practice facility is also in development nearby.

As Athletic Director at Tiffi n University and Head Baseball Coach since 1992, I can personally attest to the fact that this is an exciting time at Tiffi n University and particularly its athletic department. As a full member of the Great Lakes Intercolle-giate Athletic Conference, arguably the nation’s fi nest conference, it is time to make a strong commitment to excellence. I am committed to increasing the visibility and our outreach efforts of TU’s athletic department while remaining conscious of your needs and concerns.

Because of this the Tiffi n University Athletic Department annually holds the Tiffi n University Athletic Department Golf Outing. By supporting Tiffi n University Athlet-ics through participation in the golf outing, the community assists us with this com-mitment and ensures our student athletes compete at the highest level.

Thanks for your continued support,

Lonny Allen Athletic Director Tiffi n University

Our Athletic Department is eager to continue our growing success. As our University and reputation continues to prog-ress within the community, the GLIAC, and the NCAA, we want to thank you, the fans, for supporting us in our endeav-ors. With the generous support and funding from friends, parents, alumni, and neighbors we can continue to prosper to be an elite NCAA D-II institution. Your annual involvement with our athletic fundraising guarantees that you will be recognized and promoted as a loyal constituent of Tiffi n University Athletics throughout the entire school year. Tiffi n University looks forward to the increase of our annual partnerships.

Share the Pride, Build on Traditionis a $12 million comprehensive campaign designed to create endowed student scholarships, construct the new recreation center, and make other campus improvements. These enhancements, coupled with recent investments in new student apartments, the Tiffi n University Nature Preserve, Paradiso Athletic Complex, and the Miami Street Improvement Project, will result in a total investmentby Tiffi n University of more than $30 million in the Tiffi n community.

Campaign ObjectivesRecreation Center$9,400,000The Recreation Center will consist of two connected buildings: a fi eld house and an indoor practice facility. The connector will include a lobby and locker room facilities.

Other Campus Development$1,600,000Over the past several decades, TU has created a campus that not only refl ects the University’s own growth and success, but also en-hances the appearance and economic well being of the City of Tiffi n. To continue pursuing the campus master plan, TU seeks $1.6 million for land acquisition, landscaping, parking and others amenities.

Endowed Student Scholarships$1,000,000Without fi nancial aid, many Tiffi n University students could not afford higher education. Since over 80 percent of TU students receive some level of aid, TU leaders seek $1 million to bolster the endowment resources of the University to create additionalstudent scholarships.
