Keynote Session: The Road to Reinvention

Economic Trends that Impact Future Innovation

Josh Linkner

The most successful companies, brands and individuals make reinvention a regular part of their business strategies. Transformation demands an ongoing process of discovery and imagination. Creative change advocate, Josh Linkner lays out a systematic approach for continually challenging and reinventing yourself and your business as prescribed in his book, The Road to Reinvention. He will identify six elements in any business that are ripe for reinvention and share examples, methods and step-by-step techniques for creating deliberate, productive disruption. Change is inevitable. You need to decide: Will you drive that change or be driven away by it? Will you disrupt or be disrupted? By choosing to deliberately reimagine your own status quo, you can secure a strong future for your company.

Josh Linkner is a venture capitalist, tech entrepreneur, New York Times bestselling author of Disciplined Dreaming, and top-rated keynote speaker. As CEO and managing partner of Detroit Venture Partners, he helps startups disrupt the old guard while helping to rebuild his hometown of Detroit, MI. Josh is on a mission to drive creativity, innovation, and reinvention. And he also plays a mean jazz guitar.

Danielle Marceau

What does the GDP, Industrial Production and labor market statistics portend for the future business environment? Is it time to invest in growth or lay low? ITR economist, Danielle Marceau, explains which economic indicators to follow and what they tell us about consumer spending, retail construction and retail sales over the next few years.

Danielle Marceau is the new author of A.R.E.’s quarterly Financial Report and an economist at ITR Economics™. She provides economic consulting services for small businesses, trade associations, and Fortune 500 companies across a spectrum of industries. Danielle’s specialty is applied research regarding business-cycle trend analysis, growth-cycle trend analysis, and the utilization of cyclical analysis at a business level. As lead economist for ITR’s Acquisition & Communications Portal statistical data reporting program, she collects, analyzes, forecasts and reports on association and company-specific data. Global Manufacturing Trends

Is 3D Printing the Future of Prototyping?

Karen Kurek

Manufacturers and distributors are optimistic about their growth prospects for the coming year, but they remain concerned about economic conditions, regulatory hurdles and other potential threats to prosperity. Learn what the major challenges and strategies were for the 1,067 industry executives across the United States who contributed to the 2013 Manufacturing & Distribution Monitor Report. Insights and winning strategies will be presented by the publisher’s own “Voice of Manufacturing,” veteran Karen Kurek. The session will cover the outlook for growth, cost expectations, workforce concerns, information technology and best practices of thriving manufacturers and distributors.

Karen Kurek is a partner with McGladrey LLP and head of the firm’s national industrial products practice. She delivers financial assurance services to her clients along with consultation in the areas of tax planning and strategy formation (acquisitions, divestures, and international/ cross border matters). Throughout her career, she has consulted with, and/or delivered, financial assurance services to scores of manufacturing and distribution companies, as well as other enterprises across a broad spectrum of industries.

Donovan Weber

Learn what makes 3D printing a cost-effective alternative to full-scale design. Explore the options available from local provider, Forecast 3D, with presenter, Donovan Weber, COO and company co-founder. Then consider the pros and cons of this new technology as it relates to your retail customers.

Donovan Weber is Chief Operations Officer and co-founder of Forecast 3D. Having come from a line of “makers” himself, he has been in the Additive Manufacturing arena for 20 years having started Forecast 3D in the summer of 1994.
