• Dr. Fabian is a program director at the National Institute of General MedicalSciences (NIGMS) where he manages research grants in the areas of bioorganic andmedicinal chemistry as well as overseeing institutional training grants in ChemicalBiology. With a strong interest in career development, co-chairs Chemistry-BiologyInterface Career Development Conference (CBICareer.org).
• Prior to joining NIGMS, Dr. Fabian was the founding scientist at Ambit Biosciences inSan Diego where he led efforts to develop the company’s core technology,KINOMEscan, forever changing the field of kinase drug discovery.
• Dr. Fabian earned a B.S. in chemistry from the University of Nebraska (Go Huskers!)and a Ph.D. in physical organic chemistry from the University of California, SanDiego. He was then a NIH Fellow at Yale University. Shortly afterwards he served onthe chemistry faculty at the University of Mississippi just long enough to enjoysome of the best barbeque he’s ever had the pleasure of eating.
