• Therefore, we believe that social impact should be the primary purpose* of our organizational partner.
* Note: Social impact/return can co-exist with financial return!

MAJOR STUDENT PROGRAMS• Nonprofit Board Fellowship• Impact Corps • Social Impact Track: Michigan Business Challenge• Social Impact Challenge• The Summer Fund
• Serve as a non-voting board member for a SE Michigan nonprofit during the academic year
• Complete a board-level project, leveraging graduate skills and building new community networks
Major Student Programs
Board Fellowship Program• Fellows produce a deliverable for orgs in SE Michigan
• Nonprofit organization missions are diverse:
• Human services, arts/culture, environment, health, economic development, and more.
• Continuous academic, professional, and peer-level training support provided throughout year
• Develop leadership, persuasive, and other soft skills
• Open to graduate students in Business, Social Work, Public Policy, Urban Planning, Information, Education and Public Health

Academic Year• 7-month individual placement with Detroit-based social
enterprises for BBA Seniors & MBA2’s
• High-impact projects with senior staff including:• Strategic Planning, Marketing, Business development

Summer Internships• 10-week summer internships for Ross MBAs and BBAs
• Management consulting opportunities with leading impact organizations located across the world
• High-impact projects with senior staff including:Strategic Planning, Marketing, Business development
• MBA students receive $10K academic stipend; BBA receive $6K; travel and signing bonuses possible

• Develop social entrepreneurship skills and take an idea from concept to business plan and then launch
• Get connected to capital in various forms• Build either a for-profit or nonprofit social enterprise

• Encourage new for-profit or nonprofit ventures to tackle social/environmental issues; foster social entrepreneurship
• Multiple rounds Nov-Feb for all U-M students: $15K top prize• Social enterprises that succeed will:
• Clearly identify social/environmental issue • Articulate target population served • Identify social impact outputs, outcomes, and key metrics• Build a financially sustainable business model

• Center partners social impact organizations to develop a live case around a social challenge currently facing an urban city
• Multidisciplinary student teams tackle a pressing social issue in a competitive environment

• Deliver value for cross-sector partners through actionable ideas, recommendations, and implementation
• Students step outside comfort zone and work across disciplines to create cross-sector solutions to social issues
• Open to all U-M students; teams compete for $2,500 • Competition runs for 2-3 weeks in February through two
intensive rounds • New post-competition implementation phase for 2016
