INTRODUCTION

The SKSXC is a remote start interface that connects to the Volvo telematics module in thepassenger side kick.

The installation requires four (4) connections to the telematics harness.

Standalone, the SKSXC will work using the factory key fob (3X lock)

Step 1 — Remove trim cover along door sill

Remove plastic trim cover alongpassenger door sill

Step 2 — Access kick area

Pull back carpet to expose kick area

Un-clip SIM module in upper righthand portion of footwell and setaside




Step 3 — Access and remove telematics module

Remove black cover in kick area

Unclip telematics module from floorand set aside with access toharnessing

For the XC90, you will use thewiring harness to the right of thetelematics module that goes into thedoor

Step 4 — Identify CAN, power, and ground wires

Identify twisted pair of purple /white and purple / green wires frommain harness of telematics module

For XC90 the wires that are neededare in the wiring harness to the rightof the telematics module (towardsthe door)

Identify red wire

Identify black / white wire




Step 5 — Connect CAN wires

Connect brown / red wire fromSKSXC harness to purple / whitewire from telematics harness

Connect brown wire from SKSXCharness to purple / green wire fromtelematics harness

Be sure to solder and insulate allconnections

Step 6 — Power connection

Connect red wire from SKSXCharness to red wire in telematicsharness

Be sure to solder and insulateconnection




Step 7 — Ground connection

Connect black wire from SKSXCharness to black / white wire fromtelematics harness

Be sure to solder and insulate allconnections

Step 8 — Test remote start operation

Ensure that vehicle is in a safelocation to start engine

Close all doors (all doors must beclosed for remote start to work)

It is important to test before re-assembling vehicle in case anytroubleshooting needs to beperformed

From outside vehicle, press lockbutton on key fob three (3) times




Step 9 — Test key takeover

With remote start on, unlock andenter vehicle with key

Rotate turn-to-start clockwise(ignition). Instrument cluster willturn on.

Test gear shift. If gear shifts, keytakeover has been performed.

Step 10 — Test hood shutoff

Open hood

Step outside vehicle and close alldoors (leave hood open)

Attempt to remote start using 3Xlock on the key fob

Verify that remote start does not turnon

Close hood




Step 11 — OPTIONAL - Compustar Drone connection (data cable swap)

Using a pick tool, un-pin white andblue wires on Drone blackconnector

Re-pin blue wire in place of originalwhite wire location (inside pin, nextto black wire)

Re-pin white wire in place of originalblue wire location (outside pin)

Step 12 — OPTIONAL - Compustar Drone connection data connection

Connect black plug from Drone toblack port on SKSXC




Step 13 — OPTIONAL Compustar Drone connection (check cellular connection)

Ensure that blue and green LEDs onDrone are both flashing

If blue and green LEDs are notflashing, check to ensure blue andwhite wires (RX and TX) arereversed according to step 11. If noLEDs are on or flashing, checkpower and ground




Step 14 — OPTIONAL - Test Drone operation

Setup Drone module/account onmobile application in accordancewith Drone quick-start instructions(or go to test site if you are aCompustar dealer).

Close all doors and lock vehicleusing key fob. Remote start will notwork unless all doors are closed andvehicle is locked.

Open Drone mobile application orlogin to Drone on web browser andpress 'START' button. Vehicleshould start.

Step 15 — Mount module(s) and re-assemble kick area

Place telematics module back infactory location in kick

Securely mount SKSXC and Drone(if applicable) above telematicsmodule in kick area

Replace access panel back overtelematics module

Move carpet back to original position

Replace plastic trim cover
