QCHCC ANNUAL GALA

As Founder of the Greater Quad Cities Hispanic Chamber of Commerce I am proud to welcome you to our 2018 Annual Gala. Looking back over the last 9 years, our mission was to highlight and support Hispanic businesses in the Quad Cities. I think we’ve done that. And tonight’s program will do that as well as bring you an outstanding Keynote Speaker in Juana Bordas. We’re so excited to have Juana here.

Thank you to our many sponsors and members for their participation in this evenings event. Only through your support can we continue to spearhead important community initiatives and lead the way for our business community. Thank you also to the Board of Directors and staff along with Executive Director Lee Vasquez, for all your hard work to bring this event to our Quad Cities area.

I would like to thank the Community Foundation of the Great Riverbend for their sponsorship this year. Thank you to all our colleges and universities for investing in our future by bringing students to participate in this evenings event. Thank you to all the organizations, nonprofits and businesses, that are fully engaged and have come together to work on the challenges of our Hispanic business community.

It is an exciting time to be a member of the Greater Quad Cities Hispanic Chamber of Commerce. We are creating unique opportunities to help our member businesses succeed and tonight’s event brings us all closer together as we work to show a more inclusive and diverse community. As Juana will tell us later, we can work together and play together: Salsa, Soul and Spirit.

Thank you, and enjoy Robert Ontiveros“Everyone wins when people get an opportunity to show what they can do.”

On behalf of the Greater Quad Cities Hispanic Chamber of Commerce, I would like to welcome you to our 9th Annual Gala and Business Awards celebration.

I would like to give a special thank you to our members, sponsors and supporters. It is because of your ongoing support that we can continue the important work of providing the workshops, programs, networking opportunities and other resources that make a difference in our communities as well as other communities in our region.

Our mission is to support and promote the success of our local businesses while embracing our unique Hispanic identity. By all of us working together we can achieve this mission, and, the goals that we set out over 9 years ago.

Thank you for joining us this evening. We hope that you have an enjoyable experience and that you will join us next year when we will be celebrating our 10th year. We hope that you will join us for this special occasion as we celebrate this special milestone!

Thank you for supporting the Greater Quad Cities Hispanic Chamber of Commerce. It is because of you that the Hispanic Chamber can provide a voice for Latino businesses in our community.

At the Hispanic Chamber, we believe that our purpose is to support the growth of our community’s contributions while embracing our unique cultural identity. That is why we provide programming like the Multicultural Speaker Series, Networking Mixers, and the Empowering Latina Leadership Alliance.

This year we celebrated two years of empowering and inspiring Latinas in the Quad Cities through the Empowering Latina Leadership Alliance (ELLA) initiative. ELLA programming, including the Empower Hour, Latina Leadership Panel and Catrinas & Cocktails, has brought together over 300 Latinas! Our members help us deliver such valuable resources to our community.

It’s incredibly exciting to watch how the Greater Quad Cities Hispanic Chamber of Commerce continues to grow and impact the Quad Cities business community. Thank you for supporting our programming and working with us to empower our Latino community.

QCHCC ANNUAL GALA

It was an honor to be invited by Zenaida Landeros of the Greater Quad Cities Hispanic Chamber of Commerce to lecture in her Multicultural Speaker Series in June 2017. I was truly moved by the vision, energy, and commitment of the many community leaders who attended the event.

The Quad Cities is very fortunate to have the Greater Quad Cities Hispanic Chamber of Commerce as one of the forward-thinking organizations that works tirelessly to make sure that the growing Latino population of the area continues to be, and to be understood, as a resource to the local economy. The entrepreneurship and hard work that Hispanic families bring are vital to the future prosperity in the region. Just as importantly, the contributions that Hispanic families make to the communities of the region through their participation in schools, churches, and other organizations brings an energy of high aspirations and willingness to invest in the future that only strengthens the civic fabric of the area.

Although I cannot attend the Annual Gala, I have every reason to think that it will once again be an incredible success under the leadership of Lee Vasquez, Executive Director, and Zenaida Landeros, Associate Director, of the Greater Quad Cities Hispanic Chamber of Commerce. I have told many of my friends and colleagues that if they want to visit an area where the values of collaboration, inclusion, understanding, and sacrifice, all directed at building the common good, are present, they need to visit the Quad Cities. It will be an experience that will empower you to see how a better future can be built for all families.

Over the years, I have had the good fortune and privilege of working with many community organizations focused on providing leadership and making a difference.   I can honestly say, without reservation, that the Greater Quad Cities Hispanic Chamber of Commerce ranks high on my list in reference to impact, determination, focus, and involvement.  It is that level of achievement that made the opportunity to keynote at a 2017 Multicultural Speakers Series event that much more meaningful and special to me.

Upon meeting Mr. Lee Vasquez, it was obvious to me why the Hispanic Chamber is successful.  Lee epitomizes what a community leader should be… caring, concerned, informed, and active.  After meeting several GQCHCC members, staff and other community supporters at the event, it was clear why the organization continues to be a viable and trusted resource in the Quad Cities.  CQCHCC members and supporters recognize and value the power of a unified voice and collective action in furthering the Latino/Hispanic community’s interests.  I applaud you all for your consistent advocacy in furthering an important agenda through the Quad Cities Hispanic Chamber.

This Annual Gala serves as a time to celebrate and commemorate successes and accomplishments, and to further establish our contributions to the community… I trust you will CELEBRATE!  It serves as a time share and solidify our rightful aspirations for “life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness” …  I know you will SHARE!  This gathering also serves as a time to reflect on the continuing challenges faced by members of the Hispanic/Latino community.  Whether young or older, documented or not, rich or poor, first generation or 5th generation, this truth is self-evident… too many in our community still struggle to be included, represented, and respected. I implore you to REFLECT on and COMMIT to changing that reality within your spheres of influence and authority.

Deseándoles todos “buen provecho” y una buena vida.
