YOUR ROUTE TO SUCCESS

YOUR ENGLISH FOR ACADEMIC PATHWAYS PROGRAM (EAP)

Your program will consist of a combination of a General English and a Specific Skills class. Once you reach the Intermediate level, you have the option to change your General English classes to IELTS classes. At the Higher Intermediate level, you have the option to change your General English classes to TOEFL classes. All students must take the English for Academic Pathways (EAP) Specific Skills class upon reaching the Higher Intermediate level. Upon completion of the EAP program and passing the required level test for partner transfer, you will be issued the English for Academic Pathways Certificate.

*Please note that 10 weeks per level is a guide to average progress rates on an Intensive English course.* We cannot guarantee an exact period of study over which specific language goals can be attained.* EAP skills class needs to be taken for a minimum of 5 weeks.

KAPLAN LEVEL TRANSFER REQUIREMENTS

The English for Academic Pathways Certificate is issued to students who have completed a minimum 5 weeks of the English for Academic Pathways Course and the required Kaplan level by passing the level test.

Kaplan International Languages is proud to name over 30 partner universities and colleges across Canada. These schools will accept successful completion of Kaplan International English levels instead of a TOEFL or IELTS score, unless noted otherwise. Our partner schools also offer conditional acceptance to eligible Kaplan International students, making the study permit application process easier.

Canada offers international students the opportunity to work during their studies and after graduating. The following information is an overview of options. To ensure you understand the requirements, please visit the Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) website. IRCC is the department responsible for immigration to Canada and for issuing study permits and student work permits.

Students can apply before or after their English course start date. However, there is a minimum of 8 weeks’ enrollment required. If you know before arriving at Kaplan that you want to apply for UPS, we'll start helping you right away. If you decide to use UPS once you arrive, you'll sit down for an information session with an advisor who will take you through all the steps.

PLEASE READ CAREFULLY BEFORE SIGNING: Minimum enrollment of 8 weeks in a Kaplan International school is required to use UPS. In the case where Kaplan is unable to obtain admission for you in an appropriate college or university, the applicable UPS fee will be refunded to you. Once your UPS application is received, Kaplan will provide you with the necessary application materials for each school. Each application will include a list of required supporting documentation which may include letters of recommendation, academic transcripts, and/or a personal statement. Once you submit the required college/university application and its supporting documents and fees to Kaplan, Kaplan will submit your application and negotiate your admission to selected institutions.
