For more than 30 years, Donor Network West has been working to save and heal lives through organ and tissue donation for transplantation and research. A federally designated nonprofit, 501(c)3 organ procurement organization serving the northern California and northern Nevada regions, Donor Network West partners with 175 hospitals, doctors, nurses, more than 500 funeral homes and 44 coroners and medical examiners to connect the generous organ and tissue gifts from donors to the thousands of men, women and children waiting for a lifesaving transplant.

With more than 100,000 people in the United States waiting for an organ transplant and twenty-two people dying each day waiting for a lifesaving organ, the need is great. A single donor can save up to eight lives through organ donation and heal as many as 75 lives through tissue donation.

We need your help to reach the more than 13 million people in our service area with the message of organ and tissue donation. Through your tax deductible charitable contribution, our more than 400 employees work each day to educate diverse communities through partnerships with schools, universities, hospitals, community groups, civic organizations, health organizations, hospitals, and faith-based organizations and through a variety of digital marketing and advertising campaigns.

Donor Network West is a federally designated nonprofit, 501(c)3, organ procurement organization (OPO). Established in 1987, we serve more than 13 million people and connect a donor’s gift to those in need in 45 counties in northern California and northern Nevada.

Organ, eye, and tissue donation offers the hope to heal. The generous decisions of donors and their families allow us to recover and allocate organs and tissues for transplantation and research. We are able to carry out our mission of saving and healing lives thanks to our partnership with 175 hospitals, doctors, nurses, more than 500 funeral homes and 44 coroners and medical examiners.

In 2020, Donor Network West provided its services to 411 organ donors and 2,150 tissue donors, resulting in 1,177 organs transplanted.

Donor Network West Partner

Each year Donor Network West aims to reach the more than 13 million individuals in our service area with engaging and diverse educational programs and materials to empower them to say “yes” to donation for themselves and their loved ones. Equally as important, we work to honor, respect and support donor families throughout the donation process and for many months following donation. Your annual tax-deductible contribution will help us continue our efforts to save and heal more lives through organ and tissue donation for transplantation and research with the goal of ultimately ending the transplant waiting list.

Donor Family Ceremonies Sponsor

Each year, Donor Network West honors the past year’s organ, eye and tissue donors for their gift of life with special private receptions. The Donor Family Ceremonies are held in the Spring in Pleasanton and Fresno, California, and Reno, Nevada to accommodate the donor families throughout our service area and provide each donor family the opportunity to join with other donor families to celebrate the lives of their loved ones.

Donor Network West Donate Life Run/Walk Sponsor

The Donor Network West Donate Life Run/Walk is a 5K, 10K and Kids Dash fundraising event hosted every September, the first Saturday after Labor Day. The event brings donor families, transplant recipients and those waiting for a lifesaving transplant together to raise awareness about organ, eye and tissue donation for transplantation and inspire others to say “yes” to donation.

Team CalNev Transplant Games of America Sponsor

The Transplant Games of America is a festival-style event produced by the Transplant Life Foundation for individuals who have undergone life-saving transplant surgeries. Each year, more than 4,000 living donors, organ transplant recipients, bone marrow, corneal and tissue transplant recipients and their families gather together to compete for gold, silver and bronze medals in individual and team/relay events. The Transplant Games highlights the critical importance of organ, eye and tissue donation, while celebrating the lives of donors and recipients. Team CalNev is comprised of more than 50 athletes from across northern California and northern Nevada. Your charitable gift provides financial assistance for team uniforms, team meals, and travel scholarships for donor families and transplant recipient athletes with financial need.

Health Education Sponsorship

In addition to educating communities about the importance of organ and tissue donation, there is a significant need for more health education in multicultural communities that are disproportionately affected by diseases that lead to

organ failure and ultimately land them on the organ transplant waiting list. As ending the organ transplant waiting list is our ultimate goal, it is vitally important that we provide health education programming to those within our service area. Digital Marketing Donation Drive Sponsorship

With more than 100,000 people waiting for a lifesaving organ transplant in the United States, we have a lot of work to do. To elicit a change in behavior around organ and tissue donation, it is vital that we utilize digital marketing as a channel to reach more people. 1 in 20 Google searches is a person searching for health-related information. That’s a lot of people. Over the course of the next year, Donor Network West will aim to develop and implement a series of diverse digital marketing campaigns to reach a variety of audiences about organ, eye and tissue donation. Through this sponsorship opportunity you have the chance to collaborate with us on the development and implementation of a digital marketing campaign on a particular topic related to organ, eye and tissue donation.

The Transplant Games were founded in 1990 and have been held every two years since, in various cities around the United States. In 2018, the Games were held in Salt Lake City, Utah and brought together more than 8,000 recipients, living donors, donor families, patients on the national and state waiting lists, transplant professionals, supporters and spectators. Over the course of six days, 41 state teams and 2 international teams, comprised of transplant recipients and living donors, competed in 21 athletic and recreational competitions. Team NorCal (now Team CalNev) became the biggest winner by taking home the overall Team Cup with 120 medals! The mission of the Transplant Games is to:

• Honor the lasting legacy of donors who gave the ultimate gift of life• Highlight the importance of organ, eye and tissue donation and celebrate the success of transplantation• Promote registration on the local and national level
