July 28, 2019

For those of you who joined us at our Winter 2017 Conference, welcome back to the beautiful Grand Hyatt Tampa Bay! This conference is special to me for many reasons:

It’s my last conference as President of the FL SWANA Chapter, and it has been an honor to serve you, our wonderful members in the largest single chapter of SWANA. Returning to this location has exceeded all our expectations. Thanks to all of you for being here and supporting our organization. We especially appreciate our sponsors and exhibitors—their participation allows us to provide you with these quality experiences—along with our exhibitor and sponsorship committee who helped make this happen. We have a great two-day program that includes a tour of the Coca-Cola bottling plant and their zero waste to landfi ll certifi cation. We also partnered with the Hinkley Center again to bring you the latest in solid waste research. Kudos to the program committee—I think there’s something here for everyone. This is truly my favorite hotel here in my home town. I hope you have a chance to enjoy a beautiful sunset and/or take a walk on the trail through the nature preserve. If you do, give yourself a minute to relax, take a deep breath and be grateful for the experience (and for living in Florida).

Congratulations to our new slate of offi cers and our new directors. The results of our election will be announced at our chapter business meeting, so I don’t want to spoil anything. And I want to recognize those who are completing their terms—your service to our chapter has been invaluable. I hope you will remain involved and look forward to seeing you at future events. Meanwhile, let’s all enjoy this one!

Sincerely,

Tammy Hayes
